We were a group of photographers on a photography tour. We were amazed of the room view and excellent food. Didn’t expect such high quality. We were spoiled with Chef’s gourmet dinners during our stay. Waking every morning and seeing the beautiful bay of Ilulissat is enchanting.
We were very impressed with our stay overall. The staff handled whatever we threw at them with friendly efficiency and were all helpful. The view was fantastic and we were able to see the Northern Lights right from the outside patio. When one of our excursions had a vehicle problem, the staff made arrangements to take us to the excursion. An important point - - the heaters in the rooms worked well.
It's my 6st stay in Ilullissat, Greenland and my first at Hotel Icefiord, however not the last. With a unique location next to Unesco World Heritage site, you"ll have first class view to the icefiord, and having the option to have excellent foods and wines served by people who actually care in servicing you. So my greatest recommandation to this nice hotel.
Hotel Icefiord do offer an 5 star holiday stay during our 5 day / 4 night stay in Ilulissat. Everything are above our expectation and should be ranked the top in Ilulissat Hotel. 1. Rooms are carefully decorated with sea view and warm atmosphere. 2. Food are of super high quality - with 5 courses dinner during New Year Eve - fresh food, tasteful Greenlandic Lamp, Lobster soup with Prawns. For their contential breakfast, Hotel specifically add on one rice soup to fit the Asian customers (this is a big plus of the hotel). 3. The overall services are of perfect. Anders, Maria, Sophie and the whole team provides warm and good support to all of us.
We loved our stay here. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, our suite was warm and comfortable and the location is outstanding. The breakfast buffet offered a reasonable selection of items and the restaurant serves quality meals in the evening. Thoroughly recommended.
Although the hotel is quite basic, you get pretty much what you need during your stay in Ilulissat. The rooms are clean and with fantastic views. The hotel offers free of charge airport pick up and drop off which is great. There is a restaurant on site and although the menu is not extensive, the food is really good. My only issue was, they don’t serve vegetables during breakfast (same during dinner - the dishes have either zero or very little of them). I do understand they are expensive in Greenland, but it would be a great option (even with additional charge). The restaurant could invest in portable credit card machine, as when you want to pay for dinner, you need to go to the counter where the machine is. No big issue, but it felt weird. If I was in Ilulissat again, I would definitely stay in this hotel again.…
The hotel is located right on the Disko Bay waterfront close to the ice fjord mouth. From the hotel's restaurant, bar and terrace there are panoramic views of Disko Bay with Disko Island and Arveprinsens Ejlande on the horizon. And thanks to the Front office staff - who had read about our travel articles and upgraded our stay - we were put up in a corner room with magnificent views of the impressive Disko bay and the ever-changing constellations of icebergs, right from our room Another advantage of staying at this hotel was it was within walking distance to Sermermiut - the well-known hiking trail with an amazing view of the beautiful icebergs from Kangia Icefiord that float by – which we decided to check out the following day. While we were not expecting a warm summer weather, we certainly didn’t expect to be showered with Snowflakes that started drizzling down soon after we checked in, making the arrival experience super romantic. LOCATION: Excellent location right next to the bay with partial views of the magnificent Icefjord DINE + DRINK: The breakfast was quite boring and bland, considering the price we paid for the room! They could have surely done better on this front ROOM: We stayed in 215, so this review is based on that; VIEW: Spectacular view of the Disko bay, Icebergs and even the Ilulissat Icefiord!; SIZE: Very spacious room; AIR-CON: No Air con but only heater provided; BED: The same problem we have been facing in all Nordic hotels- Super small beds and 2 separate beds that made it very difficult to sleep as a couple and kept waking up multiple times fearing the separation of the beds and falling down! This was a big downside; BATHROOM: Stand in shower; TOILETRIES: Lovely Cosmetics FACILITIES: No Gym or Pool and Pure Arctic Chill! SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all my needs with a smile and made us feel comfortable and well taken care of. Special Shout out to EMIL at the front desk. HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free MEDIUM speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. Small Plasma TV screen dishing out dozens of channels spanning sports, news, music, primarily in Danish…
Loved this hotel. Clean and spacious room, consistent internet connection, good tea/chocolate in the room, close enough to central part of town to walk to, fabulous views, quiet at night and comfortable bed. And free shuttle to airport. Really enjoyed this hotel and if we come back to Illulissat, will be booking here!
We stayed two nights here and in general our experience was positive: stable internet, clean rooms, fair breakfast, free shuttle to and from airport, short walking distance to town center. And of course - gorgeous sea view from the rooms and the restaurant’s open terrace. The younger personnel at reception did not show good professional skills to my opinion and this is the field for further improvements.
...the Chef is really, really good and the view is beyond description. However, the service is uncoordinated and at times has little regard for the customer. Whether it was not honoring a reservation or telling us [non-Danish speakers] that we couldn't eat outside (when Danish speakers were being served outside right next to us). We talked with the nice Manager about the issue(s) and we hope that our thoughts will only make the hotel better.
