As part of our trip to Cuba we spend two night there. Check in was slow as in most hotle in Cuba, wifi only in reception area and you have to pay for it. Room Size was average but dirty, cupboards ready to collapse and you could see the pipes coming through. In the balcony the balcony bars were full of rust, When we open the wate in the bathrooom blackwate cate for 30 mins. We went to the reception to complain and they blame the area saying that was an area probelm. Being a big group we asked our fellow travellers and indeed another one two room had the same issue so it was a hotel problem and not an area issue, Food was actually good and we like the barbeque in the villa style house restauranys oppsite the hotel. \roasted pig was indeed very nice cooked and tasty. Next day buffet dinner was good for Cuba standards and same for Breakfast. Poor are rundown with lot of local the first day having parties there. It is o nthe beach side but quite a long walk to the city center. There is a mini-market for basic staff acrros the road.

I spent time at this hotel hosting 2 private group tours from Canada .the hotel and amenities are AMAZING . BUT cuba is now making transportation very difficult and very expensive for tourists ..we must only ride in yellow taxis , which are 4x as much money as a Cuban taxi .. many long term vacationers are thinking of going to a different country because of these issues ..tourists want an authentic cuban experience . Old cars taxi , visit the coutry side without costing an arm and a leg . It's unfortunate, Cubaes is seeing tough times and now pushing their tourists away ..

The exterior and lobby with many hanging ferns are attractive however the rooms, although reasonably well equipped are not at the same standard. Dinner and breakfast were both OK. I had views of the bay from my room. It was not up to the standard of some other Melia hotel at which I stayed in Cuba.

Dear Betula103, Thank you very much for spending your time in sharing your experience in this important portal for travelers although we regret that it did not turn out as you expected. Our Hotel Jagua is managed by the prestigious Meliá Hotels International group since January 2018 but is not a Meliá Hotel yet. We are about to enter a remodeling process this year and it will allow us to offer better services, better locations and completely renovated rooms for the final incorporation into the Meliá Group's business portfolio with the required quality standards. Stayed for a couple of nights as part of an escorted tour. Lobby and entrance are modern. Restaurant was buffet style and ok. Some strange combinations of food (even allowing for the fact it is in Cuba!). Rooms are reasonably well equipped and comfortable. Silly things like no channel.guide for tv could be easily solved. Shower wasn't great and rooms could do with upgrading. Curtains not thick enough to keep light out. No locks on balcony doors and my room door wasn't secure, frame was loose! Worst problem was the noise at night from neighbouring clubs and pubs. Music was still going st 3 am. Friendly staff, but this hotel could easily be improved to make it so much better.

Beautiful location and water views (although a long walk to the center of town), fancy lobby but we never had hot water. Hotel doesn't have a Cuban feel. but also doesn't live up to the melia name. Pool looked nice although we didn't try it.

Dear carley36, First, let us thank you for spending some of your time telling us your impressions of our hotel. Like you say, Hotel Jagua by Meliá is located in very a privileged area, south of the historic center, allowing an impressive panoramic view of the Bay of Jagua, the Escambray mountains and the City of Cienfuegos itself, in addition to the tranquility typical of locations somewhat distant from the city center. We would like to tell you that our Hotel is undergoing a remodeling process proposed by Meliá Hotels International this year, in the coming months. This process will allow us to provide services with quality standards of this prestigious hotel group. Thank you for praising our pool and our lobby. Best regards, Orly Community Manager
