If you grew up in a tenement block in the 1970s, you'll already have a good idea of the architectural merits of the Pasacaballo; crumbling concrete walkways and gantries - at least the lifts work and it's clean. It's painted blue on the outside, presumably in an effort to cheer it up. There are some very untidy areas visible from... More

We stayed in rooms where the bathroom was remodeled, we did see the trip advisor room pics of those that were not remodeled. Our room overlooked the water and had a table and refrigerator. The bathroom was way better than we expected, the water pressure was nil, so you could sort of shower, but if you tried to wash your... More

Having read earlier reviews of this hotel, and even though we were only due to stay here for 1 night; I was dreading the experience. The reality turned out to be much better than either of us were expecting. The hotel is more a up-market hostel, and is obviously tired, but from a location point of view, I doubt if... More

This hotel gives you great comfort for cuban standards. The rooms are well kept. They are clean. The bathroom is fully functional with a walk in shower. The pool is amazing. So try to free up some time to enjoy it. Service is friendly. We had a great time. What I really appreated is the architecture of this Soviet-era clifftop... More

For a two star hotel, I personally thought it was great! Most of the hotels I had stayed at that had 4 and 5 stars were not even close to what I found at Pasacaballo. The rooms were super clean, AC was cold, Bathrooms were clean and hot water was available. I personally loved it! Front desk staff was not... More

This is no exotic tourist hotel but it gives those who are sufficiently adventurous to step outside the all-inclusive resorts the chance to sample something different. The warmth of the welcome was without precedent, even among that which we had come to expect from friendly Cuban people. The rooms are not as luxurious as you will find in the main... More

Cienfuegos a quaint seaport town founded by the French in the early 19th Century. The Hotel - Islazul Pasacaballo is situated on beautiful grounds, which is its major asset. Accomodations is best described as economical i.e. no frills like an ice machine. The room was well kept and on our television we could access a Canadian channel. We enjoyed our... More

Our group stayed here for two nights and enjoyed the hotel property, however we had a couple of incidents that were of concern. First, several of our group got stomach illness after swimming in the pool. Second, one of our party could not find his computer when packing, but when we went to the management and asked for names of... More
