excellent OFront accomodations; reasonable price. clean. no bugs!! convenient gift shop at Villa Tropical for a variety of souvenirs and necessities. snorkeling is great if conditions are right. beautiful quiet neighborhood. I adore the owners and staff at VT. very kind and helpful. I have been coming back here for 8 years. I bring friends and family. Day trips include gozalandia Falls, rincon beaches or Artwalk, Tres Palmas marine preserve, hiking around Las Ruinas, walking down the beach, Jobo beach, the tunnel and “face” in Isabela; many good restaurants and food trucks nearby. plus grocery shopping and cooking in su casa.
What an incredible location! From the moment we checked in we felt at home. Trevor and Jocelyn were so helpful with everything from equipment rentals to advice on where to eat, hike, and snorkel. The unit itself was extremely comfortable with plenty of space both inside and on the incredible deck. The bedrooms had AC units, but we barely needed to use them because the ceiling fans made everything so comfortable. Beds and linens were superb, and the hot water in the shower was plentiful. We'll definitely be back, hopefully for a longer stay after Covid is over.
My husband and I lodged at Villa Tropical's unit M4 over a long weekend in May. The quiet surroundings were utter perfection. M4 has 180-degree waterfront views, roomy patio space, and everything you need for a tropical getaway. The staff is friendly and attentive but not intrusive. Our unit was clean and fully prepared for our arrival. With the exception of the front room air conditioner not fully working (a part was on order during our stay - supply chain!), we could not have been more satisfied!
My boyfriend and I stayed in the Front Shack at Villa Tropical, and it was nothing short of amazing. I really wasn’t sure what to expect upon booking, and was quite nervous, but I was pleasantly surprised with basically everything. I wasn’t able to meet Jennifer or Trevor, but we did have the pleasure of meeting Joycelyn and she was so lovely! We had a good time chatting with her about the culture, and she ever so kindly explained some of the language to us. Our apartment was that of a studio; when you first walk in there is a fridge and stove to your left and a kitchenette to your right. It is fully stocked with silverware and dishes (including cooking utensils, wine glasses, and tupperware). There is a fully functioning grill on the front deck, we used it one afternoon. Moving further into the apartment you have a couch and swivel TV, then a full sized bed. A large closet comes next followed by the bathroom. It is small but it is clean and the hot water in the shower works well along with good water pressure. I didn’t realize Villa Tropical was developed beyond this AirBnb ad. So, I would advise you to take time to look at their website, as there is a lot of helpful information I wish I would’ve known…. For example: I believe you can utilize the laundry machines- this I did not realize and feel really bad for leaving dirty linens. I also read on their website that they will stock your fridge for a fee; I think this really would’ve helped us, as we arrived on Easter day and everything was closed. Snorkel equipment can be rented for $10 total for your whole stay. Also, we drove to walmart and spent literally half our day there; save yourself the headache and go to the Econo that’s like 5 minutes away from the Villa. We never made it to Ola Lola’s.. They were always closed when we wanted to go, but we did go to the Eclipse, and I would recommend it just for its ambiance and how close it is to the Villa. There is a gift shop attached to the Villa stocked with liquor, sunscreen, gifts, tshirts, ect. I really jam packed a bunch into our trip, and if I could do it over again I would plan more time to just hang out at the Villa. The beach is literally your backyard - you step out onto the huge deck and have the most gorgeous view, then you go down the steps and you’re touching sand. If you walk the beach to the left (Towards Eclipse), it literally goes untouched for miles and most of the time you only run into one or two people. Right out front the Villa, there is a good assortment of fish to see when snorkeling. Our neighbors saw a sea turtle.…
We have been coming to Puerto Rico for the past 13 winters - usually late January to early February - less crowded then and resort costs are lower. We usually stay in 4 star resorts in Rio Grande / Fajardo area but we also like Isabela/ Rincon area. Since we came longer this year (almost 2 weeks) and first 7 days were here. The location is great on Shacks beach which is a haven for kite surfers and wind boarders with ample wind. We rented a 2BR in Q6 - that was clean - but modest. small kitchen with ample appliances and dishes and cookware .... which we used very little. also a nice BBQ Grill and tables on a patio beachside. The AC was great at night but breeze was sufficient during the day. They have beach towels, a few chairs and outside showers to rinse off. Isabela has the best beaches and a nice bike trail - Pasea Lineal and the couple who own Bike rental - Pedalea are great. Lastly - try to get to the office before they close at 6PM and it is a little hard to find a first - put in OLA LOLAS bar in GPS and right around the corner ... and OLA LOLAS is a great place to eat or drink .... cold beer and THE best fish tacos. Eclipse restaurant is also walking distance and is hit or miss. Lastly - second half of our vacation went to El Conquistador resort in Fajardo near Rain Forest. Much different from a beach apartment ... but together a great combo and nice way to spend a couple weeks.…
We stayed for a week at villa tropical while we attended a nearby wedding. The apartment was absolutely perfect! We stayed in M4 quinones I think. It was large with a complete and well stocked kitchen. The private balcony over looks the beach and that gorgeous Caribbean blue ocean. It was quiet and very tastefully decorated. Extremely clean. The office staff were friendly and helpful - we rented snorkel gear at the office for $10.00 day. Villa tropical is well located near the main road which takes you to airport and Also the coastal road. You can walk the deserted beach for miles in either direction. It’s safe and beautiful- we had no problems or complaints whatsoever. It’s tucked in to a very nice beach neighborhood. We would stay again for certain- it was like having our own second home on the beach! …
If you are on the west side of Puerto Rico, and you are seeking for apartment style living, with a beachside view at a great price…this place is for you! We had a great upstairs apartment, with a balcony overlooking the ocean. We loved listening to the sound of the ocean at night, getting up early in the morning to sit outside, and watching the surfers. Well worth it! Traveling across the island via car, can be a bit daunting! So recommend, if able, get a flight into Aquadilla instead. Jet Blue flys into there. If you do plan to drive across the island, expect a 2.5 hour or so drive. We arrived at night! I would recommend, if you are arriving at night, get a room in San Juan, and drive it during the day. Not far, is the restaurant Eclipse. You can walk down the beach, or make the four minute drive. They do like reservations there, but food is excellent! The app Eclipse uses for bookings is Open Table. There is also, Ola Lolas Garden Bar. They have fabulous peanut butter burgers! Make sure to either have cash or Venmo on your phone if headed to the Garden Bar. There are other places great to eat, but those were the two immediately available restaurants. …
This place is awesome! Lots of room to spread out and we had a beautiful balcony overlooking the ocean. Just a short walk to neighboring resort where our friends were to be married. Jocelyn took care of us and was always so courteous and friendly. I miss the hammocks already!
This review is a bit late but here goes. Once again I was welcomed back to Villa Tropical by Trevor and Jennifer to their wonderful place in paradise...this year I was there for a little over 3 weeks.from January 15th 2020 until February 7th 2020 . This hotel has an apartment like set up. This year i spent 2 nights is a one bedroom beautiful apartment with lots of privacy . I was traveling alone this year and after 2 nights of privacy I asked to be moved to a different apartment on Shacks beach . This was apartment TR. In this building there is a shared large deck and was much more fun for me.. At this apartment I saw over 7 Hump Back wales from the deck. This is a great building to watch surfers and kite surfers flying high in the are. These kite surfers are ultra friendly . If you stay at Villa Tropical don't be shy to strike up a conversation with them. The beach has a very well protected area for families with young children. I have visited Puerto Rico for 7 years now. It would have been 8 years but I didn't stay right after Katrina hit the island. After my many visits to PR I was so happy to discover Villa Tropical...Don't waste your time of money searching for a better vacation rental it won't be found. Jennifer and Trevor will make you feel right at home. The maids and handy man are ready to serve you as if you where a guest in their home.…
The apartments sit right on the beach. Beach is more rock than sand so you have to get past the initial beach in some places but once in the water wow. To the west of the apartments is 5 miles of native beach and jungle. No houses etc. we go several times a year and stay here. Blue hole dive site right on beach.
