5 Love the place and La Jota Restaurant is the best. All the amenities are nice and the location is simple awesome. They have individuals rooms call “casitas” which in Spanish means “little houses” with all the privacy you need to have a romantic stay. Every “casita” has a private pool with water heater so you can spend the night in the pool having your favorite champagne. In the restaurant we were attended by a very sweet waitress called Fatima. She was the best and payed attention to every detail to make me and my wife feel very comfortable. The last night she brings a dessert with “Happy Anniversary” in letters in the plate. That was a very nice detail. The place 100% recommended. And thank you Fatima for make our stay unforgettable.

Came here to celebrate my 20 year anniversary. The property is beautiful. Has that old world charm, ocean views, sunrise, sunset…just stunning. The “casitas” are private, clean, private pools (perfect for COVID) but….they drop the ball on the details. They have this amazing gem of a property but the service seems inexperienced. They are nice enough; but you don’t get that attention to detail treatment you expect from this kind of facility ($$$). Simple stuff like asking for a bike rental recommendation…they looked at me like “no, we don’t rent bikes”. (That’s not what I asked, dude) I reported a huge spider on my room and just wanted someone to check out if there was a nest or something I should be concerned about. They just looked at me like….ehhh ok… but never got back to me. Not to mention the horrible experience I had at the restaurant but they are a separate thing so I won’t mention it in detail. It wasn’t until I wrote an email explaining my negative experience that they did something to try and “fix it”. They wouldn’t need to fix anything if they did it right the first time. Is it a big deal? No, but it is annoying that you can’t get the little things right. Then it became awkward and uncomfortable for all. This property can be awesome and amazing but they need to up their hospitality service game. When you book a hotel like this you are looking for a certain EXPERIENCE that they just didn’t provide. I hope they improve so we don’t loose this one too. Again, they were all nice…but lacking that great service experience.

I wanted to love the Royal Isabela and we did have a nice stay there but they just missed the mark for the price. The casitas are spacious and nice but also starting to show their age. I would go back but am sharing what I wish I had known and will know next time. Let me start by saying the staff were friendly and accommodating. The grounds and views are beautiful. We had a gold lesson with Tom, and he was great. It’s a good place to get away and relax. Now for what I wish I had known. The “on-site” restaurant is over-priced. The food was good but not great. Also, it took over 90 minutes for us to get our meal and when it came my husband’s dish was hot but mine was cold (not a good thing for lobster ravioli). They took it back and rewarmed it for me but it was wasn’t the same and was disappointing for what they charged. They charge for water, and for refills on non-alcoholic drinks, which we found this out the hard way. The bartender brought my husband a refill that he did not ask for and we only found out when the bill came that refills weren’t free. That seems like something they should have mentioned when bringing something that wasn’t ordered. Same with coffee at breakfast. There are many great places to eat in nearby Isabela and Aguadilla. Also, be aware if you get a message that the massage therapist will up charge you. In the middle of my massage, the therapist asked if I wanted her to do my feet. I thought this was a typical question (some people don’t want their feet or faces done). I said yes and only later found out that there was an extra $25 charge, which in my experience should have been asked either before the massage started or explained when she asked the question. The experiences at the restaurant and with the massage left me feeling nickled and dimed, which was disappointing given how much the Royal Isabela costs.

This hotel a bit pricey but worth it. Is very beautiful, we stayed in one of the “casitas” we loved having the private pool and how spacious the room was. We went exploring in Isabela a found a pozita that was perfect for snorkeling and site seeing. There’s a couple of bregaste places nearby we recommend going to verde menta and the coffee spot. The hotel restaurant is very good also and great service overall.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Royal Isabela! And in general everything we expected from our stay was met or exceeded expectations! The location, views, and setting absolutely blew us away! After 4 days we did not want to leave! The casitas are so warm, inviting, romantic, and private! The hike to the beach is beautiful but challenging to some! It’s worth the hike tho! If you are looking for a quiet, romantic, and great location with your significant other, I would highly recommend Royal Isabela!!

I really wish I could give a better star rating but it just wasn’t that great. Let’s start with the good. It’s a really beautiful location with an amazing beach. The staff is very friendly and the bar is nice. The not so good: casitas are in need of renovations. Broken power outlets. Broken leaky faucets and not very clean. Covid has been hard but I’ve stayed in many places during the pandemic that haven’t had the issues experienced here. The coffee in the room was never replenished. At this price point things like the linens should be much better. I walked by the same pieces of trash on the steps for my 3 day stay. We were awakened by leaf blowers which is fine but there is no place to get a coffee before 8. Aside from a beautiful golf course there really aren’t many amenities. I would have given Royal Isabela 3 stars if it hadn’t been for the restaurant. The food is ok and the service is friendly. It was just so slow - even by Caribbean island standards. It seems like a place that has just changed ownership or is in some sort of transition and is just figuring it out. Would love to go back knowing the issues get sorted, but in the current state I wouldn’t recommend.

For my 20th wedding anniversary my wife and I decided to stay at Royal Isabela. We had Royal Isabela on our places to stay list for a long time and we were able to finally book a stay for our anniversary date. It was worth the wait. From the entrance to the property you are being transformed into this mindset that allows you to fully enjoy this piece of paradise. The service and hospitality received by the staff was top notch especially from Denise, Marilu, Rafael, Gabriel and many others. They were very attentive and friendly to us making our stay spectacular. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful. We stayed in Casita 19, which had full privacy and beautiful views of the natural preserve and the Atlantic Ocean. The Casitas have a few years since the hotel opened and you might see that throughout it but that is part of what gives them its character and is part of the experience. They are spacious and have an outdoor terrace as well as a private plunge pool perfect to enjoy the Atlantic views. There are many things to do in the property so I would recommend at least two full days. We stayed for one full day and only had a chance to do the hike down to the beach which is pretty cool. There are other trails to walk, a golf course and a tennis court to enjoy so fully recommend the stay for a few days.

I so wanted to rate this resort 5 stars due to the absolute beauty that surrounds it but I simply can't avoid to mention how many times I was met with terrible and unfriendly service. My husband and I came here for our first wedding anniversary and stayed at the presidential suite. When we were checking in, the front desk agent decided it was a good time to vent about how they can barely handle how full they are, and just seemed overall displeased to provide a welcoming environment. Once we got to the room, I found that the roses and champagne that I had ordered (and was charged) before arriving was never setup. I decided to let it pass, since we are in the middle of a pandemic and it is something that can easily be missed. Nonetheless, I decided a call to front desk would fix the issue. When I spoke to them, I was repeatedly told that although my email confirmation and bank statement showed I had been charged the romance package, it was not reflecting on their reservation. At no point did the agent attempt to rectify the situation. When you work in guest services at a five star hotel, you will do whatever it takes to retain a customer when a mistake has been made. I expected to immediately be believed, but instead the agent kept questioning my confirmation, as if I hadn't been charged, and was basically told to bring the "evidence" before we were to check out the next day. At no point in time did she provide a swift solution of being understanding and removing the charge. I'm mindful of the time this happened, and stress was a major factor for most service oriented people. Sadly, I would be doing a disservice to others and not mention or rate this what I truly believe it deserves. I would love to come back and visit, hopefully with better service!
