This is a beautifully restored plantation style home from 1818. Our room had a canopy bed, a fireplace and a very nice bathroom. The mattress was much smaller than the king we are used to and not as comfortable. The carpet was a bit stained...More
This is a beautiful sothern property with historic rooms. We had called to make reservations to ensure we got a room in one of th he two original buildings. When we arrived there was a problem with the room we reserved. The staff was extraordinarily...More
Monmouth was built in 1818 and sits on a commanding knoll. Your first sight is breathtaking, as the 4 large columns supporting the 2 story galleries gives you a powerful interpretation of the architectural style. I Have visited it during the spring, but this time...More
The Monmouth House is located just outside of downtown Natchez on a large tract of land with a beautiful 26 acre garden and a massive house built in 1818 and renovated in 1863. I’d call it a large B&B as opposed to a hotel. There...More

Offcourse the house is great... but I am sure there are much more houses that have the same look. I saw some amazing other places too. Which are much smaller and give more personal touch. The Monmouth was for me already too commercial. NO personal touch. Food... not so great. Certainly not special. BUt I am sure if you look around you can found a place just as nice and with more hospitality character. Have a great day!!!

This property is the perfect place for someone who is slow walking. I would recommend, however, that someone accompany the 85 year old, and think staying in the Main House or Pond Cottage would be perfect. Then you could easily access your car for anyplace else you wished to go to and zip down quickly to the Garden Room for breakfast. :)
