Spent three nights; grounds are beautiful, overall the staff is excellent; the bar is stingy on drink liquor; a fabulous dinner in the restaurant (food exceptional, wait staff ok); breakfast food and staff wonderful; our room needed updating / tired furnishings and could use a...More
Booked a stay with their romantic weekend package. We stayed in room 27, Andrew Jackson, and it was perfect! Hal met us and told us where everything was and helped us to our room. He was so nice! There was champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries...More
We stayed here en route from Memphis to New Orleans and were left disappointed as we thought it would be a whole lot better than it was.

Offcourse the house is great... but I am sure there are much more houses that have the same look. I saw some amazing other places too. Which are much smaller and give more personal touch. The Monmouth was for me already too commercial. NO personal touch. Food... not so great. Certainly not special. BUt I am sure if you look around you can found a place just as nice and with more hospitality character. Have a great day!!!

This property is the perfect place for someone who is slow walking. I would recommend, however, that someone accompany the 85 year old, and think staying in the Main House or Pond Cottage would be perfect. Then you could easily access your car for anyplace else you wished to go to and zip down quickly to the Garden Room for breakfast. :)
