The day before we were to arrive, the owner sent us an email confirming our stay and we replied that we would arrive about 4pm. Along the road, we sent her another email saying when we would arrive. We followed that up with a call to her and left a message.
When we arrived around 4pm, no one was home. We called her and left another message plus sent another email saying we were at the house. We waited 30 minutes, called and left another message. We drove by several times and never saw a new car in the parking slot. Finally, we went to eat. We called her again and left another message. About 6:30 we decided to look for another place to stay and made a reservation at a hotel. In all, we emailed her three times and called her six times.
Finally at 7:15 she called us and said she was home. She said her cell phone had gone dead so she did not receive our calls or emails. She never offered to give us a refund or any money back. In fact, she screamed at us saying it was our choice to leave.
We would not recommend staying here.
As per their website, this place has a late check in (5pm) we arrived at 3 & called to see if we could get in early. As that was not possible, we took the opportunity to drive to the down town area & we checked out the couple of stores that were open.
We checked into the annex room located to the side of the main house & we were told that a continental breakfast was laid out for the following morning & a hot breakfast would be served to us on the morning of our checkout.
Continental breakfast consisted of an individual box of Cheerios a shop bought muffin wrapped in cling film & a banana- it was non descript & as stated on their website.
There was an annex room to the side of the bathroom which was handy to keep our cases in. The bathroom was functional.
The room rate that we paid was supposed to include free wifi. THERE WAS NO WIFI AVAILABLE.
The website clearly states that 'Upon your arrival, you will find homemade Southern pecan pralines'. THERE WERE NO PRALINES.
The bed is very uncomfortable & sleep escaped us due to the very noisy, yappy dog that barked fairly consistently for the eintire 2 nights.
There is a book of positive reviews left in the room although I could not find any current reviews.
Our room was not attended to during our stay & I had to call to get more coffee which was fine.
On our second night the happy dog was worse.
Warm southern breakfast was fine, hash browns & some sort of sausage bread.
Rather than write a bad public review, I decided to leave the owner a note, outlining my disappointment with our stay which I felt was not good value. We did not get all of the things we had pre paid for.
We locked up the room & left the key in the designated space.
I received a voicemail from the owner later that day & I was absolutely shocked when I listened to it.
The voicemail in its entirety has been sent to the Natchez tourist board & the local newspaper, I will figure out how to post it here later.
I was accused of being a tightwad for not purchasing 'the proper equipment for my laptop before I left for my trip'. I HAD BOOKED THIS PLACE SPECIFICALLY FOR ITS PROMISED WIFI.
Jackie also said 'It's people like you that give your people a bad name'. GOOD TO SEE RACISM ALIVE & WELL IN THE SOUTH!
Jackie said 'You shouldn't be such a cheapskate'. $169 PER NIGHT, LIKE MOST PEOPLE, I EXPECT TO GET WHAT I PAID FOR.
I have already posted some photo's & I have more to post. I really expected/hoped that Jackie had been calling me to apologize for not providing what I had purchased, however she took the opportunity to rant & rage which is clearly very unprofessional. She did also say in the voicemail that she was calling the cops on the yappy dog.
Good luck to anyone who has already booked this place. I am still hopeful of a simple apology but am realistically expecting a reply similar to the voicemail that was left.
In this day an age, with the world literally at our fingertips, it astounds me that businesses do not care about simple customer service!
"Read all the reviews! The other terrible reviews rang true to our experience. The owner is unprofessional when she screams at guests."Read full review
"Don't bother! There are plenty of other places to stay in Natchez that will deliver what is promised & will not leave abusive voicemails if you dare to complain!"Read full review
