If I could give more than 5 stars I would ! I have stayed in many places that are considered luxurious yet none have compared to my stay at the Battle Creek Lodge. The owners made sure that we truly felt like it was our home away from home. They have met all of our needs and simply exceeded our expectations. Tammy and Cine have been wonderful hosts going above and beyond for us. Amazing coffee and fresh pastries were served every morning along with wonderful conversations and lots of knowledge about the area that only comes with being a true local. They even made sure that my mom who’s visiting from Poland got to try some s’mores for the first time! The room was very clean and had everything one could need! Definitely would stay here again ! :)

Great time once again at Battle Creek Lodge! Rooms are very comfortable, staff is great. After a long day of seeing the sites and hiking, its always nice to come back to the lodge and rest, relax and cool down on the balcony and large guest area- lots of seating and gas fire pits to enjoy. We particularly like the view across the creek to the hillside of Keystone, I dont think there has been 1 day during all of our visits that we havent seen deer running the trails of the hills. Beds were very comfortable. Room was very quiet, so much so that we had to set a wake up alarm to prevent oversleeping (again). We love the rustic feel/look of the lodge. We do miss being able to have breakfast downstairs with Cini and Tammy- Covid has taken that away. We were still able to enjoy the breakfast, but really missed the company. We also missed their tips during breakfast on what to do and see on our trips to the Black Hills. They both have helped us plan our days during our visits. Their knowledge of the area is incomparable, especially Cini's! We love the decor, the history, the location. The "old"area at the top of the stone steps was a pleasant surprise! We have always walked up there and looked around but this visit was special. The area was very welcoming as it has been cleared and cleaned. I even built a cairn there for you 2 to remember and as a thank you for all the personal touches you have brought to our visits. I actually was able to "win" at the pop bottle ring toss game on the 2nd floor seating area!…

This was the perfect getaway for our family of four. The room was comfortable and sparkling clean. Healthy snacks and souvenirs are available in the cute lobby along with excellent coffee and breakfast pastries. The check-in process was super easy, and staff were available if needed. The location is superb and best of all are the amazing hosts, Tammy and Cine. Seriously, the best place to stay in Keystone!

If u like complete high lifestyle this place isnt for you. But if u like a nice cozy cabin with a home like feeling then this is your place to stay. My family and i stayed at the eagle view and we loved it. Also nothing beats a nice stay if owners and managers are friendly and there again they get an A+

When I travel I want where I sleep to be part of my experience. The slamming doors of chain hotels is not my style. This cute and historic lodge was the unique experience I wanted. Lovely and personable owners. Absolutely charming. AMAZING PILLOWS!

We spent three wonderful days at Battle Creek Inn this weekend. The bed was amazingly comfortable. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The hosts are amazing!! The decks are perfect to sit and visit and also enjoy the beautiful setting. Minutes to all the yummy restaurants and shops. Will definitely be returning!

The room where we stayed is nice, clean and cozy. And right at the heart of Keystone town just a walk to dining and shops. We loved our stay though only 1 night, we will definitely go back and would recommend to our family and friends.

We stayed here two nights in July 2021. We had booked a, not so good, Airbnb in Hot Springs, SD. So, after several hours of searching for a new place to stay I was so lucky to find The Historic Ice House in Keystone, SD. This was one of the coolest places I have ever stayed. We had our three teenage daughters with us and it was the perfect size. Upon check-in there was a small snafu but they were so quick to fix it that I was blow away by the service. I will always try to book a spot with any of the vacation rentals that Battle Creek have in Keystone! Thank you so much for saving our family trip and giving us wonderful memories!

The place needs to be updated. The beds are very uncomfortable. Stains on the carpet. The bathroom fan doesn't do anything. Shower drain is very slow. Fills up while taking a shower. Every time we received towels, some we still damp. The location is great and the lady in the office is very friendly.

Hello ~ I regret that you had this experience with us. We replace our mattresses every two years - as we believe firmly that a good mattress, a good shower, and good coffee are essential in good travel. We get many compliments on our beds, but I understand that beds are subjective. I hate to admit that after your review, I walked through the rooms and I agree -- the carpets need cleaned. I talked to our cleaning staff about how to spot clean stains and I have been more diligent about checking the rooms. I am sorry that we missed the mark on that and I appriciate you bringing it to our attention. I hope that is corrected now. I also checked the fans and cleaned out the drains as a precaution - although I was unable to find one that wasn't working. If you are able to send me the room number you were in, that would be very helpful. I hope that we addressed the issues that came from your visit. I encourage people to say something while they are still on the property if they have issues. There is little that can't be fixed right away and we want to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We spent a week at Battle Creek Lodge. It definitely is not the average big name hotel! This cute rustic lodge has charm that doesn’t end! The rooms are nicely and simply decorated with pictures and furniture that fits the rustic look. The queen bed we had was very comfortable. Tammy and Cine are great hosts, treating their guests like family! We immediately felt at home. If you want a more personal touch when staying in Keystone, stay at Battle Creek Lodge. We think you will not be disappointed!
