Our Go to hotel in the Hills when we go up to Keystone, this time kinda missed the mark .Usually you could do a white glove test in any of their suites and it would pass with flying colors, That said this time we were kinda taken back by being met with dead bugs in the world pool tub , which they did apologize and relocated us to another suite which was better but didn't have the usual sparkling clean look to it. there where old straws by the bed and just felt dirty as if the room had set dormant for a while. Maybe it's from the slow season I'm not sure, Staff was friendly and helpful as always, I would still recommend them out of all the times we've stayed there this has been the only time the rooms where like this. The location of the hotel is awesome you can walk anywhere from there. it's a relatively quiet hotel also. Bring your pillow the hotel uses very small ones. All in all I would recommend them for location ,friendly staff, and usually very nice rooms.

My wife and I stay here every year. The grounds and rooms are great, they have a lobby with a fireplace, hot chocolate, and reading materials. Side-view of Mt. Rushmore. They serve hot breakfast that rotates selection daily. They have a bar and a fire pit. WHY YOU SHOULD STAY HERE: We stayed at the K-Bar last May when there was a freak blizzard that killed power everywhere and stranded the guests at the hotel. The hotel took extra steps to comfort us with an ongoing fireplace AND hot breakfast (even with no power!). In the past there were some minor concerns I had regarding the customer service of some of their phone staff. The hotel reached out to me for information so that they could take steps to improve. I am grateful they did, that alone it great customer service. Jordan is an awesome guy. This place is completely worth it.

We stayed here for three nights to explore the area - Custer state park, Badlands NP and Mount Rushmore along with Crazy Horse memorial and it was certainly a convenient base for all of these places. We had a suite with a Jacuzzi and fireplace which was very spacious and had all you needed....however it was on the ground floor at the back of the hotel and faced onto the cliff face. When we initially entered the room although it was in the day we had to let our eyes adjust to the darkness in order to find the light switches. The room was clean and functional but depressingly dark - the furnishings and decor did nothing to lift this - hence we spent as little time in the room as possible. The jacuzzi bath was never used . Why did nobody think to use lighter colour decor in such a dark place? We had breakfast on one morning out of three as the breakfast room was like a "staff canteen" with no character at all. The staff were pleasant and the room was clean enough but sadly this hotel needs an injection of brightness and vision to it. I would also add that this is the very first time that I have written an average review and it doesn't lie well with me :( On a brighter note perhaps the suites on highter floors had light?

We had a lovely large family room. It worked for the needs of our group. The room was clean and comfortable. The large table was very nice for the group to all enjoy an eat in meal. Great location and very friendly staff. The staff helped plan some activities that we would have over looked.
