First time glamping and was thrilled to find an Under Canvas site near Mount Rushmore, where I was planning to vacation. Online reservations were seamless. Subsequent emails from Under Canvas explained check-in process along with information regarding additional services and amenities.

Arrived mid-afternoon and was greeted in reception by Chase who walked me through all the particulars including tent accommodations and associated tutorials. Golf cart trip to pick-up luggage and a quick (albeit, bumpy) ride to my tent - I was presented with a lovely tent which included my vacay splurge of the stargazer feature.

Dinner first evening was a pleasant surprise, tasty arugula salad with flank steak and a cold cider. Delish. Sightseeing while eating dinner was also a special treat as I had a slight line to Mount Rushmore, which at a little after 8:30 PM was glowing from the lighting ceremony.

Accommodations within tent were comfortable with a comfy bed fitted with dual duvets, porch seating which was perfect for watching the stunning sunrises and bathroom was pleasantly well-appointed. Didn't miss the electronics and gave me the chance to escape technology for two nights and just be.

Second night was a real treat as the skies were spectacularly clear and I fell asleep gazing at the stars. Magical.

I checked out early after my second night to get a jump start on my drive to The Badlands. Overnight staff were very accommodating and again carted me to my car.

First-time customer and was very impressed with the customer service extended to me, attentive, but not aggressive. Would recommend to anyone considering a glamping experience.

We loved our stay at Under Canvas Mount Rushmore. The property is beautiful and the staff is very kind and accommodating. I have only two complaints. First, we didn't have any housekeeping services during our stay unless we asked. The beds weren't made daily like you would have in a hotel and the towels were not refreshed. Considering the cost of the stay, which was definitely equivalent to any 5 star resort, I would have expected housekeeping. We have been on African tented safaris and always had housekeeping, so this is a surprise. My only other feedback is about the meal portions and cost. The food is pricey, but not out of line with what you would expect at a nice resort. What was disappointing were the portion sizes as it relates to the cost. We all could've eaten two entrees. Otherwise, I loved the experience and will happily stay at other Under Canvas properties in the future. If you are a light sleeper, come prepared with ear plugs and eye shades. The property gets windy at night and the canvas tents are quite noisy when they blow. When it rains, it's another level of noisy. That being said, it's all part of the experience and glamping in the great outdoors.

When we arrived, the staff were very friendly and helpful. They showed us around and showed us how to use all of the accessories in our tent. They helped us with luggage to our room and they were very accommodating. I am not normally a camper but I absolutely loved the experience! I saw some of the complaining reviews below. Obviously they did not read the website and know what they were getting into. This is exactly what they state… Glamping! The tents do get a bit warm during the heat of the day however we took that time to explore and tour. The pull shower had great water pressure and the water got really hot. The s’mores every night were a nice touch.

As far as Covid precautions, the staff wore masks and made us feel safe being there.

Overall, we had a great experience! Friendly, helpful staff! We are looking forward to Glamping in some of the other Under Canvas locations.

This is a neat concept.

But we had some issues. I didn't want to make a scene on checkout, and they said a survey was coming so I guess this is it.

Night #1 of 3 the battery pack for our CPAP machine was loudly beeping in the middle of the night. So we turned it off not to bother other guests. The result was poor sleep for mom and dad of four kids. This was a big trip for us, so not good. This could have been prevented by having well charged equipment. If someone is asking for power for a medical issue, it should be taken seriously.

There was no daily housekeeping as advertised. It would have been nice to get the beds made, garbage picked up, etc like in normal hotels that are much less posh.

As a result of the no housekeeping, we ran out of soap mid-shower, and had to ask to get that filled up.

Food was good, but lines were long. A different ordering system would be great. Also, you have to wait in line to ask for a cup of water or free hot chocolate, this can be improved.

We were on a bucket list trip to Mount Rushmore and wanted to try camping. This was a great place to stumble upon. When we arrived, we were impressed by the service given during our check in and the detail given to go over our tent and the heating/lighting instructions. The reception tent is beautiful and the deck which overlooked Mt. Rushmore was an added bonus. Our tent was located near the bath house as well as the reception tent. It was very inviting with beautiful chairs and a freshly made bed. The s'mores were a nice touch at night! We did not partake in dining at the reception tent but from what we noticed it looked good! There were many families at this resort and pets too. The bath houses were clean and fresh towels were readily available but if I used Under Canvas again I would upgrade to a tent with bathroom facilities especially if you have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

This was our second visit to an Under Canvas location and once again we had a wonderful time. We spent two nights here in August 2021. The food and libations were tasty; the accommodations are rustic but still comfortable enough for those of us who don't like camping; and the tent situation was perfect for a family of four.

We were not able to get the tent with a sofabed but we got a tent that had a kids pup tent outside, which worked fine. The main tent had a shower which requires a pull-chain to operate, but we had no complaints given it's private.

We found the sleeping accommodations comfortable and peaceful even with canvas walls and both children and celebrating adults in tents nearby (it was much better than having a hotel room full of partying teenagers next door). The food options for dinner, plus s'mores over the fire later, were perfect for a COVID-19 environment. (Grab and go breakfast options in the morning were limited though, especially if you want to get on the road early).

And best of all, we really appreciated the care that the front desk staff took to decorate the kids' tent to celebrate a birthday in our family, while we were up eating dinner. It was a pleasant surprise for the kids and a memory that will last for a long time.

We can't wait for the next Under Canvas experience! Big thanks to the Mount Rushmore staff for a great time.

I booked the best suite available for my husband’s birthday for two nights. I was of the understanding there would be a personal grill and fire pit at our tent. We packed things to grill out, but found that was not the case upon arrival. The few grills available were being used so we just ate onsite. Menu choices were not what we would order (not their fault) but online research had showed yummy looking gourmet choices, we ended up with grilled cheese sandwiches. An evening bonfire lost its allure when we learned we’d be sitting with strangers around a fire, so we just went to bed each night at 9pm. I had a conversation with my chiropractor before coming and excitedly told her about this place, to which she inquired about the price and almost spit out her water when I told her. Wondering if I had maybe misspoken and our nightly rate was the entire trip, I confirmed later that day. And lo and behold that was indeed the nightly price. Ok- no big deal I thought, this is a special trip and this place is going to be exquisite, I just know it! Daily housekeeping that the website offers is simply not true/non existent. There were no hand towels, just wash cloths. To get a cup of coffee and a hastily thrown together French toast was quite the hike, again not their fault, we’re spry and didn’t mind the walk, but some might. We have friends that have stayed here and they received food and wine delivery to their tent, when we called we were rudely told we don’t deliver. The next morning my husband watched a bag of food being delivered nearby. I guess for $600/night we were hoping for a little more. We have traveled the US extensively and did not pay this much a night for a two room suite overlooking the Pacific on Maui. If our room had been $200-$300 (still high) a night, I would have zero issues as it IS camping. We were disappointed in the lack of amenities. We ran out of charging block juice and had to recharge in the truck. It rained both nights and the tents are very noisy, again not their fault, just wanted to add that in case you're a light sleeper. I was exhausted by the end of our trip and that is not how vacation should end. That being said, our bed was very comfortable and the views are exquisite, but we wont be back. There are hotel choices in town for much, much cheaper.

My wife, daughter and I stayed at here b/c we'd had a positive glamping experience elsewhere. The camp itself was nice but sorely lacking in staff service, bathroom cleanliness, and bed comfort.

The check-in experience was positive but our other interactions with staff were average to poor. They seemed young and not very well trained in hospitality - mostly ambivalent.

The restaurant was takeaway only and selections limited b/c of Covid. While that was understandable given the circumstances, the food quality was mediocre to poor. We ordered a curry and it seemed to be white beans instead. Not impressed at all.

The worst experience was with the lack of cleanliness in the shared bathrooms. They seemed to never or rarely be cleaned and restocked over our 2 day stay - no soap, always out of toilet paper, no towels. Very disappointing. And there always seemed to be a line for them since there are too few bathrooms (only 3) for the number of tents sharing communal bathrooms.

Finally, the beds/bedding were pretty uncomfortable. We've glamped at other places where the beds/bedding were very comfortable. Not here. And it was particularly disappointing b/c the reservations agent that we spoke to who works for Under Canvas made a point of saying how comfortable the beds/bedding were. We were underwhelmed especially for the premium prices charged.

Location is great to Mount Rushmore. And the other options in Keystone look to be pretty limited. But I will not stay there again nor will I recommend to others.

We spent 3 nights here as a family of 4 with 2 young kids. Overall, this is a great family escape. The property is beautiful and we were amazed to find that we had an unobstructed view of the Rushmore monument from our tent (most of the tents do not have this). We were also very happy with the location of our tent but some of the other tents, especially near the parking areas seemed a little more congested and less private. The staff was very friendly and professional.

I would suggest if considering this trip early or late season to be aware of some cold weather considerations. We experienced some snow and overnight lows of about 30 degrees. While the wood stove does heat the tent nicely, we found the fire needed attention relatively frequently throughout the night. I do not in any way fault the property for this, but something to be aware of.

Also related to the cold weather we found that the water in our shower was lukewarm at best. I asked about this at reception and was told the water should be "nice and hot." The maintenance team was sent over and arrived within 5 minutes. They were very thorough and professional and did improve the temperature somewhat but ultimately concluded that the temperature was just limited by the conditions. The adults were able to manage tolerable but not pleasant showers, for the kids it was a hard no. For the price I would expect hot water, but even different expectations set by reception would have been helpful. I expect this would not be an issue with even slightly warmer weather. We would go again, but would probably choose different dates.

This was a bucket list for us....because of the cost, we only stayed one night. We went to the sing by one of the host....which was to be followed by a s'mores roast but got rained out. Plenty of walking opportunities. We brought wine and enjoyed our evening. The next day we went to Mt Rushmore and Custers State Park.
