I booked ahead a room for the night. Arrived to find hotel was completely dark and looked closed for season. Had to use a call box by the door, using my phone torch to see, in order to speak to the desk clerk, who asked me what room I was in. "I don't know, I've just arrived." He buzzed me...

Imagine Fawlty Towers without the charm of Manuel, Polly, a chef, (all laid off, I guess)or even any other guests!!! We arrived (with reservations) in a cold rain to find the door locked!! After ringing the bell for some time a nice gentleman (a friend of the owner) came to the door and let us in. He helped us upstairs...

We stayed in this hotel because we were with a coach trip with NEWMARKET and looking at reviews before we went we were worried whether they were ok dealing with Coeliac. Newmarket told us they had informed them, we also spent 2 days trying to phone them personally, but they did not answer the phone. Whilst we stayed there we...

We stayed here as we had travelled up to Lanark for a dog appraisal. Hotel was dog friendly and we had our BB sleep in our room. Room was clean, hotel staff were friendly and it was a great location, just off the motorway.. Will def be staying here again!

Stayed at the hotel as part of a coach trip visiting the Edinburgh Tattoo and area and found the hotel to be very clean and comfortable although the rooms were a little tired and need of modernisation. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. Ryan the young barman was brilliant when we all arrived en masse and single handedly...

As former residents from the village of Abington we decided to try the Sunday Lunch menu which was advertised on the sign opposite the hotel. We booked well in advance (I would advise anyone else intending to dine there to do the same). The day we visited the hotel apparently had been very busy due to 2 bus parties. The...

From other reviews was a bit worried but found this Victorian hotel to be better than others of this age and price range. We had hot water, powerful shower, sizable room, comfortable beds - what else do you want from such a modest hotel? Meals again were OK, a bigger selection on the menu than other hotels (of this type)...

Having a couple visiting last night from England and we decided to call up to the hotel for a couple of drinks, shock & horror, NO beer on draught (apart from lager, Guinness & a beer none of us had heard of before. A round of 4 drinks amounted to £14.50, consisted of 2 cans of John Smiths, glass of...

Having read previous reviews on trip advisor of this hotel, my heart sank when I knew the travel company had booked us in here. However I was very pleasantly surprised. Needs updating in every room and evening meal not edible. On the plus side bed clean and comfortable. My breakfast adequate and staff very polite and helpful. This would be an excellent hotel if modernised.
