Had a six night stay at this nice little hotel - it was basic, clean, well located and what you’d expect for a 2* hotel - cleaned daily; yes, perhaps it needs a little TLC but definitely value for money. Would like to mention the bar/restaurant attached - thanks to Kenny, jorges & his family, beautiful children Noa & Eva (hope the exam went well) for some great end of night drinks - very welcoming, friendly and accommodating of our poor Spanish - good luck on the wedding Kenny and hope to pop back to see you one day.

Awful, no English speakers and we do speak a little Spanish, no breakfast even though we paid for it through Booking.Com please take my advice. The rooms are not clean dead flies and gnats squashed on the walls and ceilings, not very welcoming, we arrived at 5.30 pm and apparently that’s late so we were left with a note a door key and a very rude man asking for proof. Oh and the lights don’t work properly.

Good things: Location, the room has a bed, the room has aircom (I am really trying here) Things that you need to be aware of: 1. the hotel has a serious bug problem (pack your bug sprays and spray them EVERYWHERE. Whilst we are at it pack bite cream and antihistamines, even if you have sprayed everywhere the little blighters are the olympians of the mozzie world, they are persistent and your blood is their prize, which they will stop at nothing to get at); 2. the place is not great if you are a solo female traveler (there is no one on the desk from 8.30 pm onwards until whenever they guy down stairs feels like turning up again the next day) and the front door does not lock properly 3. the bar was deserted and looked like it was going through some sort of reservations (or maybe the bugs had decided to eat all the last group of travellers and no one had gone it to clear up afterward) 4. Pack a warm jumper to sleep in as the aircom is stuck at the arctic ambiance end of the spectrum (even this did not deter the mozzies) If you are a solo female traveler, who doesn't really rock a ton of mozzie bites (10 and counting as a result of a two night stay in two different rooms) and prefer a less cavalier attitude to hygiene and safety I would recommend going somewhere else...

We checked in last week to this great townhouse hotel. There is an attached bar/restaurant run by a lovely hospitable French family. So welcoming and very funny we ended up talking a French/Spanish/English dialect I termed 'Spenchlish'. Free drink with every stay, great 'build your own' breakfast ridiculously cheap and warm service. Lovely resident dog also who we saw is regularly walked at least twice a day. We paid approx £40 per night and the level of accommodation for this is amazing. Our room had two Juliet balconies on to a quaint, quiet, street. Small flat screen TV, capable ac and a modern shower room. The only facility lacking was a room safe, but at this price I can't complain. Small towels and toiletries are also provided. Quiet at night and a great sleep. There is also a lift. Location is perfect, just where you need to be in between boulevard and port. Parking can be busy, but my tip is that you usually find a space on the promenade road, facing the sea, opposite Posada Del Mar, Fuego and El Raset. Fuego is a great nearby healthy grill restaurant. Very popular. Lots of shops and a large supermarket minutes away. Highly recommend this very affordable, central welcoming hotel.

We've been visiting the bar at the Fontanella for the last couple of years. The former owner Georgio and his wife have left which is an absolute shame because they were so so friendly. Nothing wrong at all with the hotel - nice rooms, a little small but clean & very modern. The guy now running it is French - kind of like a French version of Manuel from Fawlty Towers - absolutely hopeless. Can't see him lasting 2 minutes.
