We highly recommend Zane Grey RV campground. The staff keep it in pristine shape. There is plenty of shade from all the beautiful huge trees and they provide full hook ups. The staff helped us to our site, even helping us back in, which is a first for us after camping full time for a year. The campground was full, but was still nice and quiet. Next time we are in the area we will request a site away from the road to avoid the road noise from Hwy 260. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the restrooms and showers were shut down, understandably so. We were very grateful to have this place to stay to shelter in place safely.
Cottonwood is only 20 minutes away to shop at a Safeway or Walmart. We found Vinnie’s Pizza to have a wonderful carry-out pizza and salad. There is also a grocery store in the town of Camp Verde, five minutes away, including Starbucks, as well as many restaurants and a cute little coffee shop (that was closed for the weekend).

This was our first stay at Zane Grey. Reservations were easy to make which was followed up for an email confirmation. Upon checking in promptly at 1:00 we were escorted to our pull thru site and the staff member pulled us in, lined us up and we were all set. Our site was freshly raked, shady, and ready for us to hook up, put out our rug, chairs, and table and sit and enjoy. I would say the majority of the sites are shaded. There are some nice back in sites along the grass that look very nice. The park was full and it did look like there are some rigs that stay for extended periods of time. There were also I think 3 "camp hosts" that stay on the property. A water truck comes twice or more a day to wet down the road to keep the dust down. There are 2 dumpsters for trash, a small dog run and also an area to walk the dogs. The bathrooms and showers were closed due to COVID, but the laundry room was open. There are also cabins to rent.Pictures online. Short walk to the creek and plenty of trails. Husband even fished in the creek. We heard they stock it. It is a wonderful park to relax, enjoy, and meet new people and doggies. Staff does a great job of maintaining the sites and grounds. They are friendly and can give you suggestions about finding the Verde River access or who to call if you need a mobile RV repair person. It was a wonderful 7 day stay. Oh, the wi fi isn't half bad and if you have a window antena, bring it as there is no cable but with our antenna we got maybe 20 channels. Great time in the shade. Hot during the day, but cool at night and especially in the morning.

We chose a pull through site, (had to pay an additional $25 to secure same) as we have not camped for a long time and just acquired a caravan. All sites are quite spacious and well maintained: every day the staff rake, blow away leaves, and clean up. It was extremely windy whilst we were there, but water was sprayed daily on the roads to keep dust down. The ablution block and laundry room are spotlessly clean. It was Cinco de Mayo whilst we were there, and the park provided an evening meal (at no cost to the client) in the ramada, where there is a fire pit, and plenty of seating. Also on Mother's Day they provided ice cream ($5) with various toppings, and we were encouraged have seconds if we wanted. We thought that was very kind of the owners to do that. Staff were extremely friendly. The trails led to the creek, which is lovely to sit and hear the trickling of the water. We will definitely go back, and have noted some favourite sites!! Most people there had dogs, and I must say there was minimal barking considering how many there were.

Of the 50 rv parks we’ve been in this is in the top 5 because (not in priority order): friendly helpful staff, cleanliness, amenities, location, parking spaces reasonably spaced, great walking trail, long dog park so you can throw a ball.... reading room/book exchange.... we really like it!
we work remotely and the only negative was the WiFi which dropped zoom meetings even in the middle of the day and Verizon wasn’t strong either so hot spotting was not effective.

When we arrived, we were escorted to our spot. In order to back-in you have to pull forward into another spot then back straight up into your space. We did that with the direction of the owner. After we were situated, the owner and wife stopped by and reamed us out for messing up the gravel in the spot forward to ours. They also continued to ream us out about keeping the park clean, and maintaining our spot to high standards. The lady was a real "B". We are meticulous about our camp site. We pulled forward into the other spot at the request of the owner. It's just infuriating. Bottom line is you better bring a rake to clean your own spot and any where else the owners want you to clean. Ridiculous. The wifi is awful. First, you can't get any mobile service in that area, so you are dependent upon the campground to get any wifi service. They use a 3rd party service to provide wifi. You have to create an account and login only to get unusable speeds. We had quite enough and decided to leave the next day. There's no need for the owners to be that rude. Not a place we can recommend that you stay.

We arrived an hour early & were greeted by a hand waving Big Gulp carrying woman who said you are an hour early. I said I understand that we arrived early & I know you are at lunch. Can we just wait here until you are back from lunch? Her reply was an abrupt NO. No apologies, no friendly suggestions as to where we could park until check in. Then she walked off. Rude. I cancelled my reservation but was told they would keep a $25 fee, I guess rudeness is not free. We are on our 5th cross country trip & have found everyone very nice, friendly, helpful, accomodating until today. I make it a policy not to patronize any business that does not value their customers & customer service. I have spent my entire working life in Customer Service, I recognize both good & bad & this was very unwelcoming & terrible. This is the first time I have ever felt the need to write a bad review for a Campground but as there are many other choices in the area, I have chosen another site, one that we have stayed at on a previous trip, I recommend everyone else do the same.

I live in Arizona and I visit Zane Grey at least once a year. I love this RV park. Some recent reviews talks of noisy kids and horrible management. That has not been my experience at all. Park is always quiet aside from the daily leaf blowing and the water trucks that keep the dust down. There is a beautiful walking trail that takes you down the creek and it is so peaceful back there. Everyone is friendly. During COVID they shut down things but that is to be expected. My only complaint of this property (seems to be consistent among all RV parks) is the lack of good wifi. As long as you aren't streaming, we get by. The pull thru sites are great since we have a 37' 5th wheel. Shade trees galore. Keep up the good work Zane Grey. You are marvelous. See you next week:)

We stayed at Zane Grey with friends of ours last week. We were very impressed with the park. The manager was very friendly as she checked us in. Our site was wide and separated from other sites and the road by bushes and trees. Everyday it was raked and the leaves were blown away. There is a nice common area with a fire pit and indoor game room. Free wiFi is available, but for $14.95/week you can upgrade to wiFi that allows streaming. We did this and streaming worked very well. They have a trail through the woods along a creek which was a great place to take our dogs. The laundry room and bathrooms were immaculate. It was our first visit to the Verde Valley and it was a great home base to visit all the amazing sites nearby. Sedona, Jerome, Montezuma's Castle and Well are all an easy driving distance from the park. We highly recommend a stay here.

We stayed in the one without the upper story sleeping area.
The place was very clean and came complete with all things needed to cook your own meals. (Pots pans, utensils silverware glasses cups kitchen towels dish soap salt and pepper)
All things you would see at in a hotel room for bath and bed needs are provided.
It was quiet and really enjoyed our stay.
The only draw back was the TV choices are basic channels and if you dont mind watching a million commercials in between 10 minutes of a show then, well all is good. Me, I prefer Netflix but this was not available there.

This was the nicest, best maintained campground we have stayed at. We have spent months in our 5th wheel with our son over the past 3 years and we were very impressed. The facilites were immaculate, we took advantage of the many DVDs while we were here and loved the trail that was on the property that led to the creek. We enjoyed driving to Cottonwood, Sedona, Pine and Payson from this location. We will be back!

How strong is the WiFi?
Answer from CowgirlKathi

WiFi was weak and at times, non-existent. Don't try to stream anything UNLESS they have finished upgrading their system. They told me they were going to bring in cable instead of waiting for Verizon to put in a new tower. I had a good signal on my Verizon cell phone and also on my Verizon Hot Spot, though.

Not sure because we didn't have a mobile. You could call and ask them. There was a phone on site for use.

Yes. There isn't a play ground area per se, but the stream is right there with a fun hiking trail so fun for exploring. They can ride bikes around too. Its not a KOA campground, with kid activities, but the outdoor exploration would make it good for me if I was a kid! I don't think there's a pool, but the website will say that.
