Spain is chock a block full of old buildings and some folks like to think of themselves as knights or conquistadors. For those who enjoy this sort of thing, this is your place. The Parador, a 15th century building of massive stone blocks is part of the state run hotel organization that renovates these historic places. Structurally impressive and very... More

If you are a frequent visitor to Spain, then you should know about these parador hotels. If not, then you are in for a treat. They are historic buildings, converted into state-run hotels, hence not as outrageously expensive as one might expect. This one is a genuine 15th century castle, so those who want to pretend to be a baron... More

The building is nice, as usually "paradores" are. The room was ok, although a bit small. The main problem was Internet: although announced in all sites that they have Wi-Fi ... it is not really the case. First there is no signal in the rooms. Even downstairs, where supposedly one should be able to connect, it didn't work all the... More

Room: If you've ever dreamt of sleeping in Rapunzel's tower, ask for room 303. There’s only one tower room in the entire castle. Secret door: One floor up, next to the lift, is a secret door to the top of the castle. I've been to so many castles, I've lost count. This was my most intriguing castle experience ever.

The room was clean and wide with all sorts of amenities yet the service provided by this parador was not very good, the bar had no "tapas" ( kitchen not open before 8.30 pm) so nothing was provided with our drinks. Even though the parador is located in a castle it cannot be visited during weekdays. The choice of dishes... More

The view of Zafra from the top of the Alcazar alone is worth staying here for. We went up to the roof in the morning before we left for Cordoba. You can walk completely around the ramparts(?) on the top of the Alcazar. We stopped in Zafra for the night after leaving Seville and visiting Merida for the day. There... More

Fabulous building - easy to find - you can't really miss a castle! Great parking paid directly to hotel so no messing about with the ticket machine. Lovely unusual room in turret with more amenities I remember at other Paradores - robes etc - fantastic towels. Very very quiet - great nights sleep. Usual excellent breakfast, usual slightly less appealing... More

Stayed here 1 night on the basis of half board. We were given a quaint room where the poster bed was located in a round room under a dome in the tower. Real castle experience. The dinner was adequate but rather basic. Not what you would expect from a parador. Breakfast was up to standard. Bar with too much light... More

We stayed in a superior room which was spacious, quiet, clean and comfortable. The Parador is located in the historic part of Zafra, and an easy walk to museams and the town's attractions. We arrived late in the afternoon and were pleased that the restaurant staff allowed us to have lunch at the Parador, even when this went quite beyond... More

We love to visit the Paradores, as they are preserving a lot of history. The special "Amigos" price is acceptable, and you basic always know, what to expect. The rooms are nice and clean. However, the side seeing of the city Zafra was disappointing. Therefor only 4 out of 5
