When you walk into a room and the noise from the heater is all you can hear you know you aren’t in for a good stay. The bathroom heater was the noisiest I have ever experienced. And for a 55 year old that does a lot of business travel that is saying something. The only way to get the heaters quiet is to turn the thermostat down really cold. Which is a bit of an issue on a cold night when it is 20F outside. Thank haven for the little oil radiator they provide, but the point is a heating system should not be so noisy it keeps you awake half the night. The blinds didn’t all work. Some did not close at all. Lots didn’t open fully. The paint is peeling in the bathroom. The bedroom ceiling is cracked, the window mesh is dirty and doesn’t even work well if you want some fresh air. The pillows were hard, the mattress not that comfy. The towels were frayed and small. There was no food in the hotel when I was there – not even breakfast. No pantry for a nibble or drink. There is a sign on the front door asking people not to let it slam – although people can miss that and it is on such a hard spring load it is hard not to. And when it does, the whole hotel shakes. If you are lucky, you are not in the bedroom right above it. I was not lucky. Why not get a softer closing door!!! The shower was powerful and worked well. Room size good. Overall, really not a great experience. They need to spend some money getting it back up to a decent standard.

My friend celebrated his birthday at The Colonial Inn. All 9 guests were thrilled. Great food, beautiful presentation. Staff were professional, gracious, helpful, yet always unobtrusive. Highly recommend!!

I cant begin to say how wonderful this property is. My husband and I picked it as our wedding venue back in 2018...its everything a person expects from a historical inn and more. From the food to the guest rooms everything was amazing. We stayed in the 1st floor cottage and it had enough room for at least 10 people to get ready at once, with its 3 season porch, full bathroom with tub and any kitchen tool you could need I couldn't ask for a better room. We had lunch the day before at liberty and it was such a relaxed atmosphere, The Inn Burger is the best but don't forget to get the cornbread while you look over the menu. This historic spot also has so much charm even on one of the hottest weekends of the year. The sitting room off the lobby is the perfect place for coffee in the morning or to wait for your wedding reception to start. If your on the fence about where to stay in the Concord area I would definitely look at The Colonial.

Went for a drink after lunch. Bartender was absolutely horrible. Made the experience miserable and us uncomfortable. Would not recommend, especially if spending hard earned money. Been many times, but over the holidays bad service is not acceptable.

Two months ago, I made a reservation for my family to stay at the Inn over the week of Christmas while we visited extended family. Today, on December 9, I called to ask a question, only to be told that I do not have a reservation, and, of course, the hotel is now full for Christmas. Terrible disappointment and frustration!

I’m afraid my stay was ruined by a few things: - Stench of sewage suffusing whole ground floor during morning when trying to work in room - intensely hot central heating so was told to run air conditioner simultaneously for whole stay! - Incorrect reservation on arrival for second time in two months - Alarm clock in room went off at 5am Would love to stay here as near my parents, but…

We spent one night in Room 17, a Main Inn King Room in the original part of the building. It was a large, comfortable room with a seating area, desk and en-suite bathroom with shower over the bath. We dined in and the meal was decent pub food. Some parts of the public areas look a bit tired and need refreshed. Good central location within easy walking distance of shopping and tourist attractions.

The Colonial Inn is in an ideal location when visiting Concord. Our room was very tired and worn. The peeling ceilings and floors, one faded print, degraded bathroom caulking and thin mattress did nothing to add to the buildings overall architectural charm. The Inn exterior was being painted on our visit, which makes me optimistic that the owners will repair and seriously refresh the interior. The staff were welcoming and helpful.

It’s not as though we should be surprised—we come again for perhaps the 15th or more time. We know the stairs will be steep, the floors well worn and uneven, the lobby crowded if non existent—but therein lies much of the charm of this lovely old Inn that recently celebrated its 300th birthday! Relatively new ownership is felt most clearly in staff who couldn’t be more accommodating. We lucked into being met initially and served by General Manager Alex Adamson whose unpretentious warmth, welcoming and helpful manner was manifest throughout our stay. (Does he ever go home? Does he ever not smile? Is he always in a good mood?) Melissa in the dining room must have been watching as she too turned the mundane experience of a meal into what bordered on family…in a good way! We love the quirky old Inn and in our 80th year match it’s creaks and groans as we climb the stairs—smiling in recognition, anticipation and approval. May it be in the cards to return again next October!

Our cramped basement room had utilitarian furnishings, industrial-grade amenities--like kleenex that disintegrates when you blow your nose--and was pretty worn around the edges. The room was seriously overheated, but we followed the staff's advice and turned on the air conditioner and let them fight it out. On the positive side, the location is ideal for exploring Concord, the room was clean, and it was quiet at night.
