Another scary drive up very narrow streets, but we're used to them now, and there was plenty of parking at the top. We had a very well appointed room overlooking the first courtyard, and accessed via a most majestic stairway. Room and bathroom spacious, and another good-sized balcony with table and chairs. The food in the restaurant was excellent, and... More

Very much worth the drive and the bit of overprice to be paid compared to other nearby hotels. Rooms are comfortable and modern. The view to the yard is lovely. It is excellent for summer, you will find it cooler than Madrid in about 4 or 5 degrees. Tip: If you are planning a Paradores route, your next stop can... More

Always nice to pretend one belongs somewhere so grand. Good food and stunning Spanish colonial grandeur, if a litter institutional. Lovely interior courtyard with playful fountain which cools the area. Spacious rooms which are well appointed.

Over the years we have had mainly good but occasionally bad times in Parador Hotels. This is right at the very top and beyond! We read in some book that its a chance to be treated like royalty and never has a truer word been spoken! Handily placed for a short stroll into the town centre. We resisted the temptation... More

It's a while since we checked into a Parador and Sigüenza's was one of the most beautiful ones we've stayed in. We arrived at 4.00 p.m. and rushed straight out to lunch so didn't check in until later. The castle is a medieval treasure with high ceilings, stone arches, magnificent fireplaces, chandeliers, tapestries. I felt I should have been swishing... More

Another Parador hit, great location and an absolutely splendid medieval castle. Food good - dinner and breakfast - with stunning rooms and views of surrounding countryside. Friendly staff and good service. Highly recommended.

Most enjoyable experience and well worth the 2 hour drive from Madrid. The parador sits majestically over the small medieval town of Siguenza and on entering the castle you feel as if you have gone back in time to another era. Knights in armour, traditional wall hangings combined with antique rugs and the stone walls give it that look of... More

Not sure where this is on the map, maybe 100km or so from Madrid. . But well worth changing your plans, renting a car and driving out to this hotel, it's a hotel like no other, stacked in history and off the beaten trail but I love this place. . Medeevil class, Elegant rooms and friendly staff, A courtyard that... More

Nearly every parador we visit are beutiful places and the staff are good.however the food is dreadful.the combination of ingredients are totally bizarre.there is never any cuisine except local food which im sure the locals wouldnt recognise. Where is fillet steak.etc. only the buffets are good. If these chefs worked anywhere else in europe they would last less than a... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Parador de Siguenza is an imposing medieval castle situated in an Arab fortress built atop a Roman settlement. These are the perfect accommodations, inviting you to enjoy an ancient city, where the stones speak of history, tradition and legend. The hotel's traditional Castilian furnishings are displayed with fine taste in the spacious, welcoming guest rooms. Some feature canopy beds that will make you feel as if you are lodging in a real palace. Within the thick stone walls there is a cobbled courtyard, a stately dining room and function rooms which are ideal for meetings and celebrations. In Siguenza you will enjoy a real journey back in time as you visit the cathedral, with its famous sepulcro del Doncel (tomb of the youth), chapels and cemetery. You can stroll through historic neighborhoods, medieval Travesana and the baroque neighborhood of San Roque. There are a number of typical small Castilian villages located throughout this large municipality, where traditional customs interact with rural architecture and nature, and where ancient taverns coexist with sophisticated restaurants. You can also enjoy the city's natural surroundings. The Rio Dulce Nature Reserve, the Pinar de Siguenza (Pine Wood of Siguenza), large Mediterranean forests, holm oak and oak woods, valleys carpeted in green, home to the griffon vulture, peregrine falcon and eagle owl, all offer up a one-of-a-kind splendor any time of year. Surely you won't miss a chance to visit? ... more   less
