We stayed the night here on our little tour, and it was cold, dark in the main areas and not welcoming. We found some parking quite close, and dragged our bags in,left to search out our room. The corridors were dark and cold like something out of a horror movie, with hardly any other guests around, all a bit spooky. The room was dated, but clean with a portable electric heater,no radiators switched on anywhere else. The bathroom was dated, with hot water, and no heating in it! There was no remote to switch on the TV...... Fortunately this was just a pit stop enroute to Seville. So we had breakfast, the receptionist told us the night before, this was served @ 8am,but all was closed at this time,no staff nothing ready. Eventually a man arrived unlocked the door to a very cold bar area, restaurant left in the dark and called us to enter.... We had coffees, orange juice, one small toasted bit of bread, ham and cheese. It was like and felt like it was something from a Dickens book, when we had to ask for another piece of bread.... It too was a cold soul less room so we finished up,packed up and soon got on our way. It took 15 minutes to get a bill, from a member of staff who couldn't work the computer!!... She eventually gave me a piece of paper with no detail of tax,but billed me for tax...... Rustic is ok,charming is ok,but cold not ok,I wouldn't stay here again.

The place is over 100 years old and something of a faded glory but the food was well prepared and the staff helpfull (e.g. advice on where to walk and the opening times of local shops) and friendly. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water for the showers. The bar was lively and frequented by locals. We were there as part of a large group for a week eating in the coldish (in March) conference room and on a low-cost menu but the food served in the bar looked very appetising and with generous portions. Limited parking is available on the street but within about 150m is a parking area behind a neighbouring building which should take about 20 cars - we never saw it more than half full. The pool is out of use and has been for a while but we saw a meeting being held to discuss its renovation.

The hotel is in the center of Lanjaron and you can park in a public parking space nearby. The pool is nice. We were in a family room which was extremely hot. There was no aircon, only a fan which wasn't very helpful. There was a window facing a inner count and thus, there was no breeze. Most of the time the reception area was deserted and you had to wait a very long time for help. We paid the same for this room as we've paid for a whole house or a luxury apartment elsewhere in Andalusia!

This is a very pleasant hotel. It oozes history with the interesting Garcia Lorcha Apartment in the one end of the hotel - don't miss that. And the pool in the backyard is a nice place to relax. Every room has open doors to the street or to the backyard. And the restaurant and the terrasse in front of the hotel is a must.
