AN IDEAL DESTINATION TO INDULGE YOURSELF. The purity of the six mineral and medicinal springs, the quality of its thermal treatments and its location in the idyllic landscapes of the Natural Park of Sierra Nevada (Unesco Biosphere Reserve) and the Alpujarra, south of Granada, make our Spa and 4-star hotel a unique destination to relax, get healthy and become revitalized. The hotel building contrasts with the traditional Spa facility, built almost 100 years ago, and rehabilitates the former facilities previously devoted to bottling Lanjaron water, within a modular structure for accommodation resulting in a singular aesthetic contrast between old and new. The restaurant certified organic, offers a healthy cuisine prepared with local and organic products and propose diet programmes and local recipes. The Alpujarra flavour: traditional and healthy.

Where do I start. I shall start with my previous visit which was 5 years ago and that is why I should not have come back. Yes, the staff I met we’re all very nice, one problem, language barrier. We would have got there in the end but they were not really prepared to try. There is one sign in the whole of the hotel in English which is the ecologically friendly one in our bathroom which is great. But!!!! Nothing else. The breakfast was a real let down, seriously! This could be such an amazing hotel but you really need to get it together guys! Such a shame! The icing on the cake was this morning, check out is 12pm, 2 cleaners come barging in to my room at 10.10am, not so mix have as a hello and started getting on with their job! Shameful guys! I would have went to the Arcadian hotel which is amazing but unfortunately they were fully booked! I honestly can’t believe I am having to write such a tough review but it’s an honest on.... I will leave it at that.

This hotel has so much potential and with a few tweaks could be really good. There needs to be an overhaul of the decor, it's all black and monochrome so very dated. For a spa town with abundant free water there is no water in the room, no cups/glasses and no tea making facilities. There were no spare blankets and the room was cold as it was March when I stayed. The food in the restaurant is buffet style, is fresh, healthy, mostly organic and abundant. I loved the fresh fruit salad for breakfast. And you can plan a meal for various health issues, ie gluten free, vegetarian, low calorie, no salt etc The restaurant has abundant water, two taps of flowing spa water and you can go fill up when they are open but it is a bit of a trek from the rooms. The spa is great although more for health than relaxing, you get set 30 minute slots for each treatment. The ballroom/bar is opulent and gives a hint at the full potential this hotel could have.

We were staying at this hotel before and we liked it, but this visit upset us. During the check in I asked the receptionist to have room on the park sight, but she said that at summer there are a lot of people and a lot of noise and we have rooms on another sight which is more quiet. When I enter in my room and open curtains I saw the wall before my window instead of any view. I was bagging to give me another room, but the hotel was full.

Visit of two parts: 1. 'The Hotel's - very disappointing with everything (building, decoration, plastic floors, cheap beds, one could go on & on) on the cheap! 2. 'The Spa' Fantastic! and extremely good value for money particularly if paying with UK credit card! Lanjaron has many beautiful hotels at better value for money so in future, the Spa is a must but, will stay elsewhere.

My husband and I wished to get away for December 6-8, which is a holiday weekend in Spain. We had been to the Lanjaron spa about ten years ago when one there was no hotel as part of the spa. Thus, it had been necessary to stay at another hotel and walk to the spa each day. It was not a particularly comfortable experience. But I read that the spa now had a hotel. In addition, we did not wish to go far from Granada, and I had found an extremely inexpensive offer on Internet. It included the room, a daily thermal circuit, and two meals. In fact, at first I thought the price had to be a mistake. So, we decided to give the new hotel a try. I had read the depressing reviews, but resolved to be brave. When we arrived, we were asked if we wished to have a room with the rest of the tango dancers. I burst out laughing because the last time my husband had danced was at our wedding 43 years ago. Apparently, there was a tango festival and our miracle price was for the tango troupe. I guess that someone did not show up and the deal was resold on Internet. We asked for a quiet room and were given one. When we entered, I saw that the room did not have a view but as an academic traveler accustomed to hotels with university rates, I am used to brickwall views (at least this one was white). However, two minutes later, the receptionist called to offer us a better room with a terrace and a lovely view. They promised no noise, and they were certainly right. We loved our room and had no problem with it. In answer to the traveler who complained about the absence of blankets, our room did have them. It is true that there are no complimentary toiletries offered directly in the room. However, if one needs something, it is necessary to ask and it will be provided. There is no fridge. There was no tea and coffee maker, but that is rarely found in provincial hotels in Spain. What was important for us was the lack of noise, comfortable bed, and cleanliness. And those conditions were fulfilled. The only thing that I would criticise is the uneven speed of the (free) wifi connection. As mentioned in other reviews, the lunch and dinner buffet is fairly uninspiring. We did not care because we are uninspired eaters:-) and did not come to Lanjaron for the gourmet cuisine. However, breakfast was nice. They had great German whole-grain bread, fresh fruit from the greenhouses along the coast, and home-made preserves. There was also a large selection of bacon, eggs, sausages, etc. for those who are keen on high-cholesterol breakfasts. I did not try them, but they were available. Regarding the spa facilities, they have been modernized and greatly improved since the last time we were here. A serious effort has been made to remodel the installations. The Roman thermal circuit is quite lovely and we were able to enjoy it for an hour all by ourselves with hot and cold water contrasts as well as a sauna. The other more traditional circuit had a few more people, but we enjoyed it as well. The water is natural with a high iron content (no chlorine added). I liked it because I have been in other places where the chlorine level made my eyes water. Another thing that I liked is the ambience. It is peaceful, there is soft music, and people do not go around shouting. Perhaps this was because it is December when there were fewer guests. But we did not have the impression that we were in a sanitorium, as we did when we visited ten years ago. Finally, the personnel at the hotel were extremely helpful and did everything in their power to have a pleasant stay. Fortunately for us (and any spectators who might have viewed such a comic spectacle), it was not necessary for us to dance the tango to keep the great price. Unlike the other reviewers, I would definitely recommend this hotel for the helpfulness of the employees, the comfort of the hotel, the spa installations, and the scenery in Lanjaron. And if you wish an inspired eating experience, all you have to do is eat in restaurants outside the hotel (there are quite a few).
