This bed and breakfast is always our go-to when in Atlanta. The mid-town location is ideal with lots of places to eat within walking distance. The Botanical Gardens is worth a visit and within walking distance. John and Grace are such delightful hosts; the breakfast menus are unique and delicious; the rooms are spotless with countless amenities; during Covid-19 we had homemade goodies in our room and a complimentary bottle of wine. What could be better?

Dear Kathy F, Thank you for returning over and over to Stonehurst Place! I also love our location near Midtown Atlanta restaurants and top attractions for any visitor. I need to carve out time to be a visitor in my own town - there is just SO MUCH to see and do in Atlanta, it's hard to keep up! Breakfast is really special at Stonehurst Place and thankfully we've managed to keep that feeling despite necessary social distancing this past year. I'm glad our small changes for everyones protection during Covid-19 didn't impact your enjoyment of Grace's breakfasts or homemade amenities 😊 We look forward to welcoming you home soon!

I had to book this bed and breakfast due to a work seminar. Originally, I booked it through AirBnB, which then promptly decided to cancel it on me. I reached out to John with my emergency. He very calmly rebooked the room for me, and was just so unbelievably gracious. He didn't even seem phased when I called him a day or so later to let him know my spouse will be coming along. This is all the service I got BEFORE arriving.

First, the house is absolutely breathtaking. My husband got to wander around the grounds and take everything in and we have both decided that Mr. John is possibly Atlanta's version of "The Most Interesting Man in the World" and you will not convince us otherwise. The home is spotless but not in a way that makes you feel like you would be unwelcome. I never experienced the breakfast but based on the smells in the morning as I left I know it was divine.

My husband and I could not have enjoyed the bath robes more if we tried we are actually contemplating buying some, if that is an option. We are definitely, going to be coming back.

John and Grace are gracious hosts and cater to your needs to make you welcomed as if this was your own home. The home is spotless and creatively decorated with some historical photos of the original owners. A new carriage house has been completed with 2 units. Conveniently located to the historic Fox theater, the Atlanta aquarium and the Martin L. King museum. Grace's creations for breakfast are to die for! Uber is prompt. Highly recommended Band B!

Dear capt J, Thanks for your kind words about our hospitality, decor and service! We're lucky to be located in the heart of Historic Midtown, close to all Atlanta has to offer - as well as Georgia Tech, where a building is dedicated to the brother of the original owner and builder of Stonehurst, George Hinman. In our Music Room is an original photograph of the George Hinman children unveiling the sign during the dedication of the Thomas P Hinman building at Georgia Tech; be sure to have a look for it on your next visit! Warm regards, and see you soon, Barb Barb Shadomy, owner Stonehurst Place

My husband and I recently escaped our daily grind for a weekend staycation at Stonehurst Place. I don't think we realized the stress we had been carrying until we felt it melt away within an hour after we arrived. John graciously told us the history of the house and gave us a tour. Every piece of artwork had a story, from the original Andy Warhols to the covers of an interior design magazine that only ran for one year many decades ago. The house is immaculately maintained and is partially powered by solar panels and includes a water filtration system that is purer than any plastic bottled water. Grace's afternoon treats were worth every single calorie (think espresso walnut brownie that was gluten free and almost the consistency of fudge) and her 3 course breakfast menus could be in a 5 star Michelin rated restaurant. We stayed in the Stedman Suite which was in the carriage house and incredibly quiet. The heated floors, heated towel bars, and multiple shower heads in the bathroom were the ultimate luxury. During our stay we walked to Piedmont Park, walked to several patio restaurants for dinner, and took the recommended bicycle tour of Atlanta. The location is in the heart of everything in Midtown and we enjoyed our time sitting on the porch as much as we did exploring the neighborhood. Stonehurst Place is magical and the personal attention that was doted on us by John and Grace is unparalleled. We can't wait to return for a longer stay.

Dear Daydream49601294044, There are just so many parts of your review that sing to my heart! I'm overjoyed knowing you loved the Stedman Suite, one of our newest rooms and the one I painstakingly worked on the bathroom so that all of the ADA requirements would disappear in small design details ... and I love that you loved my Flair magazine collection! I trained in interior design in London, England, and that's where and when I fell in love with Fleur Cowles short lived Flair magazine. I have a few extra copies ... write to us, and I'll happily post one to you! Come home soon to Stonehurst Place! Warm regards,

We stayed in a suite with generous size room and bathroom. Favorite features were soft bedding, very clean, and en suite has a deep soaker tub and steam shower. Unfortunately the jets were not operational during our trip but the tub was still so relaxing with view of skyline. Few spas could compare to the steam shower! Worth the upgrade o this suite if you go!
The ceilings are sloped as it is a top floor of a historic home, but I didn’t feel it was too small. Lovely book collection, fresh still water and TV with Roku for a rainy afternoon movie were all available. The breakfast was unique (limoncello simple syrup on pancakes!) and breakfasts were as tasty as were the homemade sweets in the afternoon. Be sure to mention ahead any dietary concerns as they are happy to accommodate and quite knowledgeable in various preferences.

Mostly, I enjoyed the location - from walking to a delicious neighborhood Italian restaurant a few blocks away and being so close to shopping.

Overall we spent the same $$$ as a 4-5 star hotel with a more memorable, personal experience. I would suggest arrive before dark on your first trip to take full advantage of their hospitality and makes it easier to spot the driveway.

I hardly know where to start! We are familiar with the area and as we had tickets to a performance at the Fox Theater - within walking distance - we decided to make it a getaway. We arrived on a lovely Sunday afternoon and were greeted by John. He was most gracious and friendly, telling us details of the history of the house and its features. Although a little early, we were allowed to check into our room immediately. It was spotlessly clean, luxurious sheets (which can be purchased through Stonehurst), heated towel rack, a comfortable seating area within the room, fireplace with indirect, romantic lighting, and....a welcome goodie of flour less chocolate cake! Which was to die for!!! The venue also includes a screened in porch as well as a beautiful, wide porch (like our grandmas used to have!) that overlooks Piedmont Avenue with a view of the city's skyline in the background. The next morning we were served breakfast alone with the other guests. Grace is a fabulous cook and the ambience of the dining room was pure charm. We were given a key to not only our room but the house itself so we were free to come and go at any point. It was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend Stonehurst.

Stonehurst Place is my go-to stay in Atlanta! I stay at Stonehurst Place every time I travel to Atlanta, and it's always an incredible experience. The rooms are impeccably clean, and the bed and linens are luxurious and the most comfortable I have ever experienced in a hotel. The rooms have amenities like rainfall showers, heated towels, and refreshments perfect for the weary traveler. The location is on a quiet street, but still centrally located and convenient. On my last visit, there were even delicious homemade cookies and treats with the sweetest note waiting for me in my room when I arrived. John and Grace are incredibly kind, and it's always a pleasure to stay at Stonehurst Place.

John, Grace and the rest of the staff were exemplary! Breakfast was superb each morning and was served promptly. The room we stayed in was “The Gables”. The room was immaculate upon arrival and well stocked with extra blankets, pillows and the like. The bed was plush, but very comfortable and not too soft. The toilet was in it’s own room connected to the bathroom which is always a win. The tile floor was heated inside the bathroom and the walk-in shower had a bench. My favorite part was the three separate shower types (handheld, wall, and RAIN) which were all able to work at full force simultaneously. Also, the location was very central and allowed me to drive to the Aquarium and Cirque Du Soleil without having to run the interstate gauntlet. Plenty of restaurants and cafes in walking distance and a surprisingly safe neighborhood. I WILL be staying here the next time I visit Atlanta. Once again, huge shout out to John and Grace Cardona for their hospitality.

Great location, nice clean room. Breakfast were excellent!! Only issue was poor masking. Staff were generally not masked and we were asked to pull down our masks to verify our identity indoors. Requested by an unmasked employee standing close by. Unmasked employee also serving and straightening our place setting (while eating)/hovering close by during breakfast. Upsetting to us as older adults at high risk for Covid.

Dear Bonnislaw, My response to guest reviews are typically both grateful and lighthearted, but I am concerned your comments will give fellow travelers the false impression that we are lax or careless in our attitude toward Covid-19 safety and hygiene procedures. We are not. It is paradoxical that our staff member you pulled aside to compliment for wearing a mask was in fact wearing one because she is not fully vaccinated and was adhering to our company policy requiring her to mask up. Because of your comments, I feel compelled to go into the details of our unwavering safety commitment and procedures. At Stonehurst Place we steadfastly maintain the highest hygiene and cleanliness standards. Our hotel’s sanitation guidelines include using a hospital-grade disinfectant fogging system to protect both guests and staff from Covid-19 contamination or exposure. In the State of Georgia and in the City of Atlanta, we are not allowed to require guests to wear masks, but as a company we can and do require staff who are not fully vaccinated to do so. We ask guests who are not fully vaccinated to do the same. We closely monitor government policy changes, CDC guidelines, government mandates, and public health advancements. We are informed, and we are alert. We make changes to our protocols and procedures as needed to ensure the safety of our guests, employees, and our community. Our procedures and guidelines are outlined on our website, but I list them below to eliminate any confusion. For anyone reading this review who may have questions about our Covid-19 policies, please call or email us - we're happy to boast about our efforts! Warm regards, Barb Barb Shadomy, Owner Stonehurst Place

This was our second time at Stonehurst, but won't be our last. We live in the Atlanta suburbs and needed a nearby getaway, and our stay was everything we could have hoped for. The Hinman Suite was beautiful and luxurious, from the bed linens to the heated bathroom floor to the oversized shower, our room was calming, comfortable and just what we wanted on a weekend away. John and Grace are fantastic hosts - John made sure all of our accomdations were great and our questions were answered, and Grace is quite talented in the kitchen. Breakfasts were divine and we enjoyed all of her extra treats. The location is great, walking distance to Piedmont Park and many restaurants, or a quick drive or Lyft to everything Atlanta has to offer, from restaurants to shopping to museums and attractions - we were in the middle of everything, yet still in a quiet garden oasis. I can't say enough, other than, you just have to stay here!

Hello Classic_C, Sorry to only now discover these questions on TripAdvisor and to be overdue in my response to you! All rooms and suites at Stonehurst Place have their own individual thermostats. I agree, most B&B's are set up as a regular house could be, and some times it can be difficult being subject to the whims of guests in the room that DOES have the thermostat! Not to worry, at Stonehurst Place you have one dedicated to you and your comfort. Hope this helps. Barb Shadomy Owner
