We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott downtown Atlanta, visit was very pleasant, from the valet guys to check-in. I would recommend staying here. Within walking distance to restaurants and the arenas.
I cannot imagine what the thought was when this room was laid out.
PROS: Bed very comfortable; bathroom is fantastic
CONS: However, with a king size bed, there is only ONE light; that is on the far side of the bed, as is the alarm clock. That clock is tied down tight! The near side of bed had the telephone; a cord so tangled it's hard to use. There is NO dresser; an entertainment center has been repurposed for that, also by the single light, but one still cannot see. The TV is anchored above the desk; a short light is wedged under the TV, so if you need to see what you are working on, forget it. I did move this light over to the near side of the bed, as I had had to use the flashlight on my cell to see written material. Taken in the daylight, t you'll see from the overall room picture that it looks really nice, until you stay there. It would be so very simple to rearrange this room logically AND add some lights.
Attend a trade show in Atlanta and stayed here. I arrived at 3:30 am and was pleasantly greeted at reception. Room was clean and quiet and satisfied all my requirements for a short business trip. My only disappointment was the server at the bar/lounge was not friendly or engaging and on more than one occasion our group had to track him down to get service.
I’ve stayed her many times and was noticing everything was staring to look a little tired in my first room. As usual I checked for bed bugs somewhat thoroughly (clearly not enough) after I got in and thought all was good. Went to sleep the first night and noticed a ton of bedbug bites the following day on my feet/ shins.
When I returned to the hotel and stripped the bed and used my phone light I found an. Infestation on the very end of the bed around the lip. Gross.
Anyway, the manager on duty, thankfully moved me (I first searched other hotels but everything was sold out for conventions I guess). They sent my suits out for dry cleaning and gave me money to wash clothes which Was super super nice.
New room was fine except TV didn’t work. For real! Ha! But the manager handled that.
I have two stars instead of one because the manager that helped couldn’t have been any nicer. Even without the bedbugs it’s about average hotel wise. Good location.
23 hours after setting off from UK I started to check in at this hotel only to be told they had no room for me. Told me they had overbooked expecting no shows to solve the problem but it hadn't worked out that way. Confirmed booking with late arrival notice counted for nothing. So tough luck me. Off to the Hyatt for one night then back to Marriott. Seriously poor. The rest of the stay was ok but nothing amazing. The room had no safe; no working fridge so not sure how it gets a 4 star hotel rating. The plug in the bath didn't work and maintenance only work 9-5. So fixed next day. US hotels are very expensive. If I paid this anywhere else I travel in the world, I'd get a lot more bang for my buck. Only once in all my travels have I had no room on arrival and it was solved by putting me in a suite in the same hotel. So no room and move hotel for 1 night is a world-wide first for me. Always good to have new experinces. To be fair, there was room for me at 0900 the next morning. Check out guy was very good.

Nope...wouldn't be a good idea to walk around with family that late at night in that area. Better to take some food with you. Or hold off until morning and hit the Highland Bakery not too far away. By the way, there is no hotel parking but there is a garage across the street- $20 to self-park there for one hour or for 12 hrs. Can park on street using metered parking for up to 2 hrs I think.
