Rodney was super attentive, gave great advice about the food and overall provided great service.
The food did not disappoint at all. I had the candler breakfast (with grits instead of potatoes) and my husband has chicken and waffles. We enjoyed our food and the setting was calm, bright and cheerful. Definitely recommend!

We had a brief but lovely stay at the Candler Curio by Hilton. This is our third stay in a renovated boutique hotel in downtown Atlanta and the Candler can hold it’s head up with the best of them. From our first contact by phone with Frederica to our last with Kwame (sp) our bellman, every single staff member was welcoming and warmly eager to assist us. At check in Courtney arranged our nicely upgraded room as Honors members, and called our attention to the hotel’s lovely Tiffany windows. Our evening bellman, Jonathan, was quite knowledgeable and answered my questions about the design and architecture of the hotel. We had checked in after pizza at Max’s nearby but came back down to explore and have sorbet in By George, the in-house restaurant. The restaurant managers morning and night answered questions very knowledgeably, reflecting excellence in training. All of the public rooms—restaurant, ballroom, library, lounge—were beautiful and would be perfect for weddings and other special occasions. We had a great view from our room. The bed was very comfortable and the city sounds didn’t keep us awake. The breakfast was mostly good (except the sausage) and the restaurant staff both evening and morning were quite pleasant. At check out Teenzi (sp) was also pleasantly helpful. My husband and I only have a few suggestions to make this excellent hotel even better. We only had one tiny soap in the bathroom, and no body wash, so it was good we brought our own. He would like the TV to take less than 5 minutes to receive a signal (which might be critical in football season :) ). All the pillows were feather and for those of us who are allergic a choice is nice—but we brought our own. Also for allergies less floral fragrance in the common areas would be better. And in the restaurant adding a few non-dairy items would help, for allergic or vegan diners. It is evident a great deal of thought went into the planning of the renovation and the staff selection and training. If there were any hiccups the first few weeks I’d say they are gone now. My husband said it would be a great stay just based on the staff’s service alone, never mind that it is such a nice hotel. I agree, but I am very glad it was so beautiful, too. We will definitely plan to stay there again, soon!

This is an amazing property. Hilton has done it again restoring a historic building and keeping beautiful marble stair cases and brass post box and elevators. The sheets and bedding are top notch and every detail in the room is on point. The closet lights up when you open the door, there is a small ironing board and iron, a small espresso machine, A dining or workspace, and the beautiful curtains will block out the room if you want to sleep in.

Ashley at the front desk welcomed me with a glowing smile I could see even through the mask. She gave me some tips on where to sight see and shop and made me feel right at home. What an amazing front desk staff you have here. Everyone I encountered at the front desk was beyond helpful, welcome and friendly.

We were unable to dine in the amazing space By George because it is closed for Covid reasons right now. However, the bar is suppose to be open Wednesday through Saturday from 4-10. We arrived to meet another member from our party around 5:30 to find only one other guest in the bar. Justin the bar tender was friendly and knowledgeable but he had no lemons or limes to garnish his drinks. Any self respecting mixologist needs the proper tools. One or two lemons and limes a day won’t break the budget. But what was more concerning was the missed revenue opportunity and the negative guest experience I observed that followed. He decided to close the bar at 6:50 pm and turned away two more parties of guests.

My flight to Atlanta was full. The flights Monday and Tuesday were sold out and no seats in first class were available on Wednesday. We are starting to travel again. It may be worth having a conversation with staff that sticking to published restricted operation hours is necessary to build clientele. You have a captive audience with your guests. We don’t want to walk the streets looking for a place to get a drink when we have an amazing space like By George to enjoy! Take our money, please! You could Reimburse your bar tenders if they want to pick up the whiskey cherries, lemons limes and oranges they need to be proud of the cocktails they make.

There was a woman who appeared to be falling asleep at the bar so he may have closed to avoid conflict with her? I’m not sure. That was strange.

Great property. Happy to have been a guest but I’ll probably go back to The Ritz because of their Gold Standard training. I miss travel and the luxurious elegance of having a cocktail with my date.

The hotel is gorgeous and in immaculate condition. It was very very clean but the hand sanitizer dispenser on the 6th floor was empty. My main issue is the fact that I booked breakfast for 2 and was notified that via email the By George restaurant was closed due to Covid. Instead they had breakfast a la carte but it wasn’t prepared fresh. So in essence I paid an additional (high) price for breakfast that consisted of a cold Belgian waffle, cold syrup and cold chicken tenders that was priced at $18.95 per person had I not already paid in excess of $50 for breakfast. There is also no microwave in the room so heating it up wasn’t an option. Management should remove the breakfast option knowing that the breakfast offered isn’t compatible with what’s being charged if people book rooms where breakfast is included. Additionally, the hotel charged me AGAIN for breakfast after checking out even though my room was booked to include breakfast. The front desk said they didn’t see breakfast included on my booking. I showed my Hotels.com receipt and my account was “noted”, but somehow I was still charged. I called and I’m currently waiting on the manager to call me back regarding reversing the charges. Other than that, hotel is in a very good location but be advised there are homeless people around. The bar inside By George made outstanding drinks (but closed too early at 10pm) on a Saturday night. I wish Covid would hurry up and go away 😔. I would stay again and I highly recommend, just be wary of the breakfast. If breakfast was offered (or food options) rooms had microwaves, and I didn’t have to currently wait for the manager to reverse those charges this hotel would be a 5 star rating.

This hotel is beautiful, had polite staff and well appointed rooms. Unfortunately, of the three nights I was there, I did not get housekeeping in my room any of these days. Two nights housekeeping knocked on the door to clean the room at 7pm or later. I had already returned to the room so there was no point at that late a time. I have never stayed in a hotel where that has happened.
Additionally, the per night incidental charge is exhorborant to say the least. That is something that should be listed so that guest can expect that at check in.
If you enjoy French food you’re set, if not expect to walk to the Westin or somewhere else for breakfast. We couldn’t find anything close for an early breakfast other than the Westin. Even the “breakfast” restaurant next down not open until 8am.
Overall pretty sure I would not stay here again anytime soon.

The building is beautiful and Rai with check in was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The rooms are big but no amenities I’m used to at a 4 star hotel. I had to cal down for body lotion. No cotton balls, swabs, makeup remover or even trash bags in the trash cans.
Upon arriving, no one at the door. I had to struggle with my luggage and the door by myself. Restaurant is closed though the city is wide open and other restaurants are almost at capacity.
The worst experience was in the mornings. I had been told that since the restaurant wasn’t open, I could grab a to go breakfast.
Fist morning at 9:50, I was told the bar was closed because breakfast ended at 10. It wasn’t 10. I did manage to have her give me a breakfast box though. Without asking she then tells me breakfast ends at 11 on the weekends, I.e tomorrow.
Second morning, I Waltz down before 11 only to have the bar closed again. I ask the front desk for a to go breakfast box and he literally rolls his eyes at me and says that would be at the bar. I explained the door was locked but he shrugs like there’s nothing he can do about it. Luckily, the manager (not sure if she actually was) who had told me it’ll be open till 11 the day before walks by holding a trash can and I ask her about it and she says they ran out of breakfast boxes and haven’t gotten any shipments yet?? Lol. At a hotel of this caliber, really? She then offers me a muffin, mind you I didn’t ask for it... she offered. I say ok. She hands it to me and as I was about to walk away, she asks what my room number was so she could charge me for the muffin. I was so flabbergasted and embarrassed. Why would I pay for your overpriced hotel muffin when I was told the stay would include a breakfast.... then I remember she didn’t even wash her hands after carrying the garbage can before grabbing the muffin (so much for impeccable cleanliness). So I gladly return it to her and go up to my room to start packing up.
Please train your staff better.

I recommend you stay at any of the OTHER hotels downtown. The Ritz seems really nice and in a similar price range.

Good Afternoon, Thank you for your feedback. I spoke with the Supervisor on Duty and he briefed me on the concerns you brought to the Front Desk’s attention. Apologies for missing you before you departed this morning as I was hoping we would be able to connect. I am embarrassed and disappointed to hear of the service you received during your short stay with us. It is certainly not the standard I expect from the team and will be sure to address your comments with the individuals. I’ve sent you a message via our text app with my contact details hoping for the opportunity to discuss your experience personally. Please feel free to contact the hotel directly and ask for Natalie should you not receive my text. Again, we appreciate your feedback. I look forward to connecting with you.

The renovartion of this old historic building is stunning and I was lucky enough to stay with a company group function. Every corner you turned there was an employee making sure your stay was at its maximum best. The conference facilities had a sound sysytem like a disney movie. Excellent set up. Will make a wonderful place for a wedding venue as well as a corporate funtion. As a matter of fact it may become the best wedding venue in town!

From the moment we arrived we were taken care of. Jerome, the Bellman, took care of our car and bags and went the extra step to make us feel welcome. We were a bit concerned to stay in a hotel due to Covid but those concerns were immediately replaced with comfort during check-in when the Front Desk explained the array of precautions and measures that the hotel has taken to ensure a sanitized room. We entered a beautiful room that felt clean and safe. Last but not least, after quick call to the Front Desk Jonathan, made sure that little details like, a fresh breakfast and extra supplies for the morning were delivered promptly. Thank you for a comfortable stay.

We stayed here for one night, but wish we could have stayed longer! Jerome, the valet, greeted us when we arrived and was professional and super kind and helpful. From there, the front desk staff (I didn’t get her name😔) quickly checked us in and we were off to our room. The elevators and all the decor are so gorgeous and breathtaking. The room was large and the bathroom was huge with marble counters and floor. The beds were so comfy. The remote for the tv was sanitized and they also give you Lysol spray. The room and bathroom were immaculately clean and the decor was beautiful. The location is great and we felt very safe. We can’t wait to come again!!

My husband and I have been in the hospitality business for 19 years and our experience at this hotel was outstanding. I have worked specifically for luxury hotels from Ritz Carlton to Mandarin Oriental to Old Edwards Inn and I was blown away.
Firstly to the shout-outs: Fredricka checked us in and upon seeing the notes that were celebrating our wedding anniversary, congratulated us and then offered our choice of rooms based on view. (Side note: room 1709 provided one of the most amazing sunrises with Stone Mountain in the background that I have ever seen) She was so sweet and so attentive. She hit all of the secret shopper check points with ease and in natural conversation. Next to Jerome our bellman. When we first pulled up he promptly opened our door and gave us a warm greeting. After getting the luggage and valet business squared away he offered me his arm (swoon) and escorted me to the front desk to check in. Once we were checked in he then escorted us up to our room and gave us some great history on the building. My husband and I grew up in ATL so we are big nerds when it comes to local history so this was right up our ally. After seeing we brought a bottle of celebration bubbles, Jerome offered to get us some ice after off loading our luggage. Again, he hit all the inspector check points with ease and genuine care.
The room was beautiful! The hotel is in the historic Candler building which they convert from an office building and they have played up the classic with touches of modern perfectly. I even have to say that the furniture they selected really maximize the space of the room without over crowding or skimping.
We had dinner offsite but before catching our Uber we stopped off at By George for a cocktail and appetizer. My corpse reviver #2 was so good that I don't even remember what my husband ordered but his was also delicious. We snacked on the pate en croute which we could not resist in ordering because 1) I can't remember the last time I saw pate en croute on a menu and 2) it is a true labor of love to make a pate en croute so it had to be ordered out of respect to the person who took the 24 hours out of their life make it. I don't know who you are, but you're my hero friend.
I would have to say the one and only downside about our visit was the breakfast. It was a Sunday morning and I'm a white woman in my 30s so you know how I love some brunch but that was not to be found at By George. The overall breakfast menu was pretty sad and pretty over priced. Also sad was when I tried to order a hangover banana (trust me, it works), I was told that they did not have bananas which to me is well, kind of bananas.
Otherwise, the two lovely ladies at check out were very sweet and the doorman made great small talk with my husband while our car was being pulled around.
The team your hotel has built is kind, genuine, and welcoming! Well done Candler! You will be seeing us again very soon!

Hello, Thank you for your review we really appreciate it and are happy to see that most of the services and facilities were to your satisfaction. Thank you for the shout out for Jerome and Fredrieka and everyone else you interacted with. Hospitality is about one thing and that's the people. We have tried really hard since we opened 5 months ago to focus on personalities, on people who care and who have a genuine interest in other people. I'm really glad that we appear to be succeeding. Overall I hope that you had a great experience and will return again soon. Next time you come, I promise that the breakfast menu will be more extensive and we will have bananas on the menu. Let us know if we can assist further and thank you again.

Hi If I chose a breakfast included plan, what would I get? Can I order from the menu or is it buffet? How does it work?
Answer from Charmaine H
Hello Nib550 The breakfast is a la carte. Based on the plan you choose it may incur and additional fee for the remainder of the amount. It just depends on how much of your meal the plan covers. I hope this answers your question.
