Recently had an incredible experience, thanks especially to Malcolm who really went above and beyond to make sure of it. He was so friendly and attentive and took excellent care of us for our entire stay -- A REAL GEM!! Thank you for everything Malcolm!!
Crumbling infrastructure…only one elevator working (please renovate your stairwell) , pool and gym closed, plumbing issues, AC not working in common areas. I had a 3 BR suite. The space was great. Full kitchen, but empty cabinets, no spoons, only 3 forks..Complimentary water in the lobby had mysterious floating particles. Jeremy at check in was very helpful. Other staff was also helpful.
Hospitality is excellent. Thembela was outstanding the minute I met her. She made feel like I was home. Great place! Clean, good food. Nostalgic a great place to meet family and friends in the heart of Atlanta. I would highly recommended this place. Thank you Thembela!
Where do I begin? My daughter chose the Georgian Terrace for her wedding in 2019, before COVID. Since then she’s worked with countless wedding managers and staff, none of whom actually saved any notes from the previous person. So it was like starting over at every turn. Then one of the ballrooms she reserved was flooded. Then the grooms suite had damage and they had to change his room. Then the pool and gym were closed. Then the elevators weren’t working, meaning there was one working elevator that had to be run by staff. Oh and no AC in that one elevator and maybe even the lobby. So the basics were sub-par. Now let me get to the room and a warning if you decide to reserve a 3 BR DO NOT let them out you in a room ending in -20. I was in 220. My sister in 221. The -21s are MUCH bigger, they have a huge DR table, full fridge, huge LR with an L shaped couch, etc. Me? Dorm sized fridge, no utensils, no cups, no pots and pans but a full stove and oven. 4 top table, small LR and bedrooms where you could not get your bag between the bed and the dresser or wall. My BR faced Peachtree and the noise from the street woke me up. The room itself was banged up as was the furniture. Scuffs and rips in the wall, water stain on the ceiling. So if you get a room ending in -20, they will charge you the SAME as as a -21 with loads less amenities. Just take a look at the floor layout on the back of the door and you can see the -21s are almost double the size of -20s. The bride tried to take a bath in her large suite (it was a 3BR room ending in -21). Rust water came out. Engineering came 2x and said to keep running water. We ran for more than 30 minutes. Rust still came out. She tried to shower. It ran so hot she couldn’t get in. She tried to shower in the rust water but the water never warmed up. They had to give her another room to bathe. The final indignity was an extra charge of $100 billed to my credit card with no invoice. I called the hotel 3x and left a VM that was never returned. Front desk staff could not explain the charge. Turns out they charged my CC for someone else’ valet!!! It is sad as others recently mentioned. This was a grand hotel from the days when hotels had that extra flourish. They may be going through a slump and I hope they return to a time of grandeur but that’s not now. TIPS: check your CC after leaving for surprise charges and if you want a 3 BR, get one ending in -21. Better yet, just wait to till they renovate and reserve at Hotel Indigo next door.…
I have stayed at The Georgian Terrace many times over the past six years and I am very sad to see how much the service and the amenities have deteriorated to absolutely nothing the past two years! There was no gym available, no pool available, no room service, only one elevator worked and you had to call down to have someone come up to your floor to get you. The restaurant had a limited menu and was only open a limited time as well as the bar was only open a limited time. I called down to the front desk a few times regarding my television which was not working only to find that no one answered. I used to be greeted by the staff every time I came and left the hotel and the door was opened for me. Not once did this happen on my last stay. It seemed as if the staff were very unhappy with their jobs. On top of everything that was unavailable and or broke down, I was shocked to see I was charged more than I ever have been per night for my stay. I regret to say I will not be staying at this hotel again on my next trip to Atlanta. My condolences to the loss of one of Atlanta’s landmark hotels. Robert Craighead…
There seemed to be a never-ending barrage of problems that arose over the weekend of a family member’s wedding. From sewerage coming up into the bathtub and toilet ( and not deposited from our room), to the elevators being basically non-functional, to amenities being out of service. Rooms that had kitchenettes had no dinner or silverware. Now it turns out that some of our party is being billed @mystery charges” that cannot be explained by the hotel staff. This must have been a premier venue at one time, but the hotel itself and the staff are in great need of help.
I have stayed in many hotels in all parts of the world, but this one is special and not in a good way - it parades itself as a proper 4 star hotel - nothing could be farther from the truth - the weekend we stayed there the pool/gym were not operational and the top floor was flooded...and only one elevator was in operation (you had to call for the elevator to come to your floor from a phone mounted on the wall - that did not really work). Beyond the obvious challenges I would have been ok with it - I guess floods happen. However, the problems at the GA Terrace are deeper and more profound - the rooms (and I was in several of them) are below standard - there are yellow residues on the inside of the room door, the lock doesn't work so they installed a latch over a cracked molding. There are scuff marks on the walls and strangely enough there are blank electrical cover plates everywhere - I counted at least a dozen...the door in my suite (it was a bedroom/living room combo) was off its lowest hinge but was still operational given the upper two hinges were connected to the door...I asked if the door could be repaired during my three day stay but to no avail. The shower did not drain and there was an inch of standing water everytime you showered which mean whoever followed would have to step into your mess...or wait a good 10 minutes + for it to drain. Not to be too picky (but I think I will) the towels were not 100 cotton and the soap was a white deodorant soap in a cheap wrapper that would think be better suited to a Super 8 motel. The bed which was supposed to be a Queen was somewhere between a Queen and a double and the bedding blankets were synthetic. I asked for bath robes, they came two hours later, the attendant basically threw them at me...and when I used one, I realized that the robe of scratchy cotton did not include a belt. The black out drapes (which were impressive) have holes in them. The windows were screwed shut. The carpet and artwork are atrocious. To say that this place is in need of some TLC is an understand. The building is grand but the owners are cheap and nasty people -they charged full price and were very rude upon check out, not one dime off the orginal price - charged three days of valet but alas we only used it one day. Please don't be sucked in on the idea that this is a hotel with merit, it is NOT....it seems that the company that owns it is going bankrupt, hopefully it will be sold and renovated back to it glory - but the people who run it now are only interested in ripping people off. This is well below a one star....stay anywhere else...…
So sad. The elevator was broken. The AC was broken. The attitude of the staff was nothing short of rude and arrogant. Why? It has potential to be a nice hotel. But with the current management company, it will not happen. Shame Don’t bother
To be honest, I was highly disappointed with our visit this time. Every time we've stayed at your hotel in the past, we've been very pleased. It is, in fact, my favorite hotel. However, this time was nothing short of terrible. I booked directly through your hotel in April for our trip in June. I asked for a specific room, not knowing it was a 3 bedroom suite. The problem was, neither did the people who handle your reservations. I was told 4 different things from 4 different people. I asked when I would know if I got the room I requested. I was told to call back a week ahead. When I called 2 days before arrival, I was told to call back the next day. When I called the day of our arrival, I was told rooms are not assigned until check in. I told the front desk that we would be arriving after 7 or 8 that evening, I was told rooms are assigned first come, first served. This is ridiculous, especially when I booked 2 months prior. When I stated this, the front desk clerk became nasty. She said that the reservations are handled in Houston! These representatives know nothing about the hotel. She became belligerent and acted like the whole ordeal was my fault. I was near tears at this point. We had been traveling for hours and I was tired. My husband called back and asked if we could expedite our check in as we were eager to just get in and go to sleep. The other representative was condescending. She said we could not do that, which is understandable. My husband explained what we had been through and she laughed and said she "would be happy to cancel our reservation". This was all on speakerphone, by the way. I had specified we wanted a lower room facing the Fox theater. When we arrived we were exhausted. We were given a room on THE 14TH FLOOR! Definitely not the lower floor I requested 2 months prior. The room was hot, stale smelling and unpleasant. Our view of the Fox was abysmal. We got the fan going to circulate air. We checked the thermostat and it was stuck on almost 80 degrees. I fell into bed sweating profusely. At about 2am my husband was able to remedy the problem. The breaker was tripped. We told the front desk person who reprimanded my husband, stating we should have called for maintenance. My husband asked if they would have responded at 2am? She laughed and said, "oh, at 2am? No." We had also asked to speak with a manager earlier due to the run around we were given and we never heard from them. The only bright spot in our stay was the valets, and bellhops. They were pleasant, personable and very helpful. As a long time patron of your hotel, I expected more. We didn't even get an apology. What we got were snotty responses, and a lousy $50 discount on a bill of well over $1400. To be honest, I'd like a response to this review, but I won't hold my breath.…
We booked a two bedroom and received a two bedroom plus den. This was great as each of us had our own bedroom! The room was a reasonable ~$245 per night plus tax and $40 parking. The issue is that the hotel is not well maintained. The pool and fitness center were closed and only one elevator was working. This led to long wait times for the elevator, plus the phone on our floor didn’t work well when you needed to call the front desk to get the elevator. Other little things throughout the room were broken: bathtub stopper was missing and both bathrooms needed to be re-caulked, dishwasher in kitchen wasn’t installed- just slid into the opening… the list goes on and on. Oh and the ice machine on our floor was broken so I went to the one on the floor above and below our room. Both ice machine rooms had extensive water damage and smelled of mold. I do worry about fire safety at this hotel - given the broken elevator we used the [very dirty] stairs and they regularly left stuff at the bottom of the stairwell (rolling carts, etc) plus the door to outside at the bottom of the stairs is extremely hard to get open.…
