Benahavís is a lovely small village, with all the essentials nearby. There’s great trails for hiking with stunning views, plenty of beaches and of course Marbella is not far away! The rooms were wonderful and clean, the location is very central and all is designed with a charming eye for detail. Also superb hospitality and great breakfast! Thank you for everything and see you next time! :)

Arrived and met by owner to show us the best place to park. Indeed, Elaine parked the hired car for me. Accommodation was very pleasant. Room was slightly smaller than we anticipated from the photographs but still more than adequate for 2 people. En-suite was superb size and very, very clean. Small area to sit out was pleasant although did have a fair amount of people passing by and as per human nature, they had a wee glance in. So, if you are really wanting privacy, I think you would be disappointed. Other reviews mention position as a negative, but we loved being adjacent to restaurants, bars etc. At no time was our sleep disturbed since everything tends to close by around 11pm. Breakfasts were excellent. We were there for 7 days and did not become fed up with the offerings. My wife celebrated her birthday when we were there, and Elaine could not have been nicer. A small bottle of Cava to go with the fresh orange juice and a cooked breakfast. Very thoughtful and much appreciated. Alan always stopped for a chat, and both were very helpful with advice and just general friendliness. Benahavis is a nice village with an abundance of restaurants catering for all types and good local walks etc. Overall, a very pleasant weeks break.

Delayed review. Apologies. What a place. Brilliant. Stayed there for the first time overnight early September. Pretty much exactly in the centre of Benahavis Village. Loved the room, spotlessly clean and very modern. Gorgeous bathroom, clearly recently fitted. Great breakfast and a lovely breakfast room. There’s nothing as good as this in Benahavis. The host could not have been nicer – Big Thank You.

I am not at all surprised it has taken the owner 3 weeks to respond to my partner's comments. I can confirm I am the one who was woken early on the first morning with a cockroach crawling around in my hair. The second morning another cockroach was in the empty wine glass in our room.   In the bathroom there is an electronic device to discourage cockroaches and an aerosol spray. If there hasn't previously been any problems with cockroaches as the owner suggests why the need for the device and spray?  I am appalled at the utter contempt the owners have shown.  We decided to leave the bed and breakfast after the second night. We were not offered even a partial refund for the third night which we had paid for upfront before arriving at the property. Please be aware the properties letting rooms are street level and surrounded by restaurants and bars. Perhaps the owners should spend more time cleaning the rooms and getting rid of the cockroaches instead of researching honest people who leave honest reviews. We have travelled extensively and leave positive reviews when it is deserved.

Response from Elaine Burns, Owner at Casa Ella
Responded Oct 16, 2022
We reiterate, what we responded to your partners review .One review would have been sufficient ! We are extremely proud of our 5 star reviews across the board and do everything we can to ensure our guests have a wonderful stay. We welcome feedback, but hurtful and insulting remarks about us is totally uncalled for and says more about your character than ours ! It seems you find pleasure in trying to find fault and damage people’s livelihoods. We know everyone else loves Casa Ella by our unblemished record over many years of running a small B&B . It’s a shame you didn’t too, but we wish you all the best and hope you find happiness on your travels and within yourselves.

Casa Ella from first impressions looked exactly the modern clean B&B we like, but unfortunately we were sadly mistaken!! The first problem was that we were told we were not allowed to use the aircon because of government advice even though the room was advertised as air conditioned. Next the tiled floor was dusty and dirty which Ellaine reluctantly mopped with a bucket of water whilst muttering "Alan was on his hands and knees cleaning this room". The shower drain had the previous occupiers hair sat on top. Then at 6am the first morning an extremely large COCKROACH was crawling in my partners hair!! We quickly dispatched it and Ellaine explained that we should not keep opening and closing the door to the cramped patio area as this was how the beasts were getting in. The final straw was on the second morning after following Ellain's advice about the patio door, another large COCKROACH was found in an empty wine glass!! We'd had enough by then, both Ellaine and Alan (who spent most of his time on the top floor in his ivory tower) both said "it is a hot country you know" as if that made it acceptable!! Of course no offer of a refund and maybe the reason for most of these issues are that they are selling up and their interest in the business and customers is dwindling fast.

Response from Elaine Burns, Owner at Casa Ella
Responded Oct 7, 2022
We are extremely upset by this review, but not surprised, as from the moment you arrived, nothing was good enough for you, unlike our previous guests x30 5star trip advisor reviews and have received a 9.9 Booking.com award. We find some of your comments extremely misleading if not bordering on the slanderous ! I have looked at many of your previous reviews for other establishments, which clarifies my thoughts ! As for your comments regarding cockroaches, we have NOT observed any prior to or AFTER your visit, so to use the word ‘Infestation’ somewhat dramatic and misleading. As for your comments regarding’ dwindling clientele’ This is a total slanderous statement ,of which you have no justification and I suggest you retract this ! I also note that you referred to another host as avaricious, of which you also communicated to me, which again was unnecessary and hurtful ! Finally, please refer to the review on Booking. Com for the guests whom were staying as the same time as you ! (A Spanish gem gave us a most wonderful stay 12/10 )

I don’t have enough complimentary words in my vocabulary to fully describe Casa Ella. Beyond perfect, charming boutique hotel at the very core of Andalucían village life. From the beautifully furnished rooms with little courtyards, to the awesome breakfasts, Alan & Ella went above & beyond to make my stay one of the best in over 25 yrs of visiting this area. Superb breakfasts to set you up for the whole day, a ready offer of help with luggage, parking, local knowledge, nothing was ever too much trouble at Casa Ella. The warmth of the owners made me feel like I was coming home when I returned again later during my stay in Spain after visiting Vejer & Tarifa. I will be returning to Casa Ella for as many times in the future as Alan & Ella can accommodate me. Just superb in every aspect, on every level.

What a gem Casa Ella is! Perfectly located in the heart of bustling Benahavis, just paces away from an array of excellent restaurants and bars. The rooms are stylish, beautifully decorated, immaculate and very comfortable. The hosts Elaine and Alan arm warm, friendly and fun with a wealth of local knowledge. Breakfast is a delight with delicious fresh produce, prepared for you to eat at your own convenience in a pretty breakfast room. We spent a lovely few days here and can’t wait to return.
