Skofka Loka is a very small city with and attractive old town worth of a short visit. The Garni Paleta is a family run boutique hotel that provides the required accommodation and amenities for a nice and restful stay.
We had a wonderful stay for one night. The bed was comfortable, not water plentiful and the air conditioner worked a treat. The host was friendly and informative about local attractions and suggested walks. We followed his suggestion for a place for dinner and it was an amazing meal. As we had to leave early the next morning he conviniently packed a bag of breakfast to go, totally unexpected and gratefully appreciated. I would definitely stay here again and have no hesitations in recommending it.
No air conditioning- just a decoration. When I asked owner to switch it on he did nothing. Breakfast from 8 till 9 in the morning...c'mon during vacation I would like to sleep longer. Plus for location.
We travel all over the world, but I didnt meet such unpleasant owner of the hotel so far. Very poor breakfast - no regional food, room was not cleaned (only beds), air conditioner was only decoration on the wall (sleeping in the room where beds are upstairs we couldnt breath), no ventilation in the room, bad smell from the bathroom. I will give only one star for the location. A big dissapointment.
We came to Škofja Loka to visit my family that I hadn’t seen in 43 years. This hotel, run by Igor, is a gem. It was very hot in Europe and we were thrilled to have great AC. Our room overlooked the river and castle. Breakfast was in the 650 year old cave under the hotel. We hated to leave!
This is a splendid little place, overlooking the river Sora, in Skofia Loka. Unlike some of the B&Bs we've reviewed the Hotel Garni Paleta is not hard to find. In fact you absolutely can't miss it as you drive down to the river. You can put your car into the little alley next to the Hotel to offload luggage. Hotel parking is close by. This place has been developed out of his former family home by Igor, your host. Our room was clean, bright and modern, and overlooked the river. Its twin beds were on a mezzanine level, reached by a steep little spiral ladder. Cooling and wifi were both excellent. Breakfast is served in the newly refurbished former wine vault which also has river views. It was Continental, with excellent coffee, various breads, cheese and meats, and some fruit. We really cannot fault this B&B, and thoroughly recommend it. We are also grateful to Igor for his suggestions on our onward travels in Slovenia.…
We were in this hotel for 3 nights at November 2018, The hotel was near bus station, 20 minute by car to Ljubljana, It was a small hotel but clean room with good breakfast , the host of hotel was a man that he was so kindly with us. every morning we had a different local cake from the village near there. view of our room was so beautiful. Totally I love there.
This is a terrific hotel in a lovely old town with a great central position to base yourself for day trips around Slovenia - ideally with a car (the hotel has a private car park) but there is also a super convenient bus station 3 minutes walk away and a train station further out. The hotel is very clean and well designed with excellent modern facilities (especially the fantastic showers) and big comfortable beds, The proprietors are a local family (with good english speaking skills) and are extremely pleasant, friendly and helpful. Igor is the main host and he is very hospitable with in-depth knowledge of the town and wider region - especially the mountains - which he is pleased to share (he refers to the breakfast room as the unofficial tourist information centre, with leaflets, maps etc) The old town of Skofja Loka itself is a superb example of a medieval town with a rich history and architecture - and yet it is very much a living, real community which you realise if you are staying there as the local families come out in the evening to meet up and socialise. It's a real joy to sit and wind down in the early evening in the Homan cafe with ice cream, beer or something stronger.…
To be honest,, I was looking for a hotel in Kranj...... this came up as an option and booked it as was very competitively priced. The owner greeted us personally with a drink and made us feel immediately welcome...... also have us great advice on where to go and things to do. The room was newly refurbished and very comfortable with great view of the river from the window... (Yes it really IS as picturesque as the headline photo!). My luggage didn't arrive at the airport and even though we left the next day for a touriing holiday the owner said I could have Air France drop my bag there... he even rang me when it arrived. Highly recommended, great location in a lovely town
We felt at home from the moment the door was opened to us. The host, Igor, is a very welcoming and warm person. He offered a local aperitif right away and advised us on places worth visiting in and around town, the best restaurants etcetera. The hotel itself is very homely and cosy. It is full of beautiful and colourful paintings that match the general atmosphere. Our room was very clean and well organized. The same goes for the bathroom with its spacious shower cubicle. The breakfast was very nice as well. We were offered a wide variety of food, including an absolutely amazing piece of cake, which is freshly made every day just for the hotel. To sum it all up: fantastic place (situated next to the historical bridge) and the perfect host. We recommend this hotel highly.
