I was fortunate to stay at Mt. Williamson Motel while taking a one night break from the John Muir. What a quiet, relaxing time it was and is steps from the Sierra's if you enjoy hiking. Chris "Strider" and Jim were such great hosts, taking care of every need including a wonderful breakfast the next morning. Rooms have been recently...

Our first night of a road trip up Hwy 395 was spent in the motel's Paiute Suite. Immaculate, comfortable--complete with kitchen--perfect! Spectacular setting for the morning glow of the Sierras. But most memorable was the incredible warm welcome and time chatting with Cris -- our road trip was in honor of my mother-in-law's 90th, and she was blown away by...

Don't let the humble cabin look fool you...This is an awesome and friendly place to stay, with stunning views of Mt. Williamson and Mt. Whitney right at your doorstep...The Manager and owner were consummate GREAT hosts, and even cooked FAB breakfast every morning for those stay, a lot of whom are hikers and mountain bikers, etc. I was there on...

My brother and I stayed here recently for two nights as part of a rest layover on our hike of the John Muir Trail in the nearby Sierra Nevada mountains. It was a super experience. The motel consists of 8 semi-detached cottage style rooms surrounding a quaint and well-shaded courtyard. Our room was clean and neat with a great shower...

This was a stopover point for us. After staying just the one night, I had wished that this was our destination! Awesome renovated cabins with great personal touches to make you feel at home and very comfortable. Noticed as soon as we walked in that there was a clean natural scent in the cabin, not the chemical nasty smells you...

We had a wonderful stay at this motel! Although it appears rustic on the outside, all modern conveniences were available inside each cabin. It was very clean and the owner/manager was very friendly and helpful! Breakfast the next morning was excellent!! The town is very small so finding dinner was a bit challenging but there are towns nearby that offered...

Booked as a stopover point in between Yosemite and Death Valley. What a find. Semi-detached cabin. Recently renovated and well maintained. Fabulous staff. Excellent breakfast, freshly cooked. We sat with other guests around a big table which was great as we got to find out things!

Wonderful little breath of fresh air in Independence. A clean and tidy cabin with everything you could need. (Was nice to have a real jug - as it's been some what of a skill to boil water for a cup of tea using a coffee percolator! ) Strider was very generous with our two boys and the breakfast was a...

Appearances are quite deceiving. As you drive into Independence and see the hotel sign, it looks looks like every cheap motel sign until you turn into the drive and park. What awaits you are seven cabins (we were shown an additional unit with a full kitchen in the morning). At check-in, I was greeted with two cold beers and given...

Welcoming. Clean. Comfortable. Terrific service. Nice owner and staff. Enjoyed my time with other guests. Just the place for someone spending time hiking the backcountry or just passing through Independence.
