Lovely holiday we stayed recently at this hotel it is surrounded by apartments so no sea view. But it was a nice quiet area although lots of building in some streets, it didn’t impact on us. The room was comfortable and looked newly painted. The bed was large and very comfortable, the balcony was overlooking the pool and complete with table and chairs to sit out. The bathroom was a bit tired and the shower lacked power, but it was very clean. The pool was a nice place to sit out and didn’t get busy while we were there as it’s a fairly small area but plenty of beds and shade. Breakfast was good with plenty of variety. Staff were great and very friendly. Some good restaurants within a few minuets walk, seafood, Italian and burgers. About 5 minutes from the main bus station and buses cheap to pop around the island a better option than the hop on bus which goes to Valletta before beginning the trip so it’s an all day affair. Well worth a visit a good quality budget hotel.

Room Tip: Parking difficult as lots of cars, but buses so good you do not need a car. The hotel does...

Overall not great. We booked a week stay here as part of a package holiday but left early. First warning was the receptionist would only give us one key card for the room. When I said "but there are 4 of us" (couple and two teenagers) she shouted that she had 200 guests and could not give more than one key per room. We never felt we could ask her for any advice or information about the area. She made us feel as if we were a nuisance. Secondly, the 'indoor pool' is hilariously small, like a children's pool and the outdoor pool was only cleaned on the third day of our stay. Also, the maid knocked on our door to clean the room early each morning even when we told her that we were getting ready to go out for the day and just needed a little time. The decor is shabby and in need of updating. Our room was a little dark and depressing, with the smallest TV I've seen in years, about the the size of a laptop. The breakfast wasn't of great quality although there was a lot of choice. As for the positives, the little balcony was nice and it looks quite pleasant from the outside. Most of the other staff, at reception and in the breakfast room were polite and helpful. It's not in a great area but it is a short walk to the local bus terminus and the promenade is close by. There are also lots of coffee shops and restaurants in the area. It's definitely not a 4 star hotel and badly needs an upgrade to bring it out of the 1980s. If you are just planning to sleep here for a few nights, and get out every day for day trips it should be OK, but if you have notions of relaxing by the pool or having a few drinks in the bar, forget it. The one night we got back from a long day out I ordered a drink and the barman asked if I wanted another before he closed;it was 10pm! We booked a B&B for the last 2 nights of our stay, which was lovely by comparison.

Really enjoyed the comfort of our room t was also quite spacious, the AC worked really well, it was quite hot when we went so that was important, decent breakfast , friendly staff, we didn't get to use much of the facilities has we were out most of the time, but the pool seemed to be a reasonable size. Thanks for the lovely stay.

After the first two nights of a two week stay, it is time for a first review. This hotel is in a quiet area of Qwara. Some building works in the area, but not annoying. The room (413) has a decent size with a very small balcony. A fast and reliable Internet connection. The room (tiles on the floor) and bathroom are clean. The bed is a bit soft for my liking, but that is a personal preference. They still give you an old fashioned key with a wooden handle attached to it, that you are supposed to leave at reception every time you leave the hotel. I travel a lot both for work and private reasons. But it has been fifteen years since I didn't get a keycard in an hotel, but a real key that you have to turn in a lock. There is a safe in the room, also operated with a key that you can get at reception free of charge. There is coffee and tea in the room. Many shops, restaurants and pubs are within a fifteen minute walk, as is the main bus station with connections to all parts of the island. There is an outdoor swimming pool near the entrance and a small indoor pool on the roof. If you want to catch the sun, you will have to use the sunbeds on the roof. Because of the big buildings surrounding this hotel, the main pool is in the shade most of the day. My room rate was excellent (less than €40 a day, a decent breakfast (continental and English) included. When I rate the level of luxury, I would give this hotel three stars instead of four, but overall I am very satisfied with my choice. After having tried three other hotels in the same area (Park Lane, Pebbles and Gillieru Harbour), the price-quality ratio of Il Palazzin is great.

Excellent Staff, wonderful position , short walk to bars and restaurants , lovely facilities, good breakfast service and food, good evening meal service and choice of good food. All round very clean and tidy. Just a lot of new buildings being built around. I Recommend this hotel though.

Writing this on the last night of our stay. Picked on the basis of reviews, and the fact that a certain ‘Booking’ site has a great offer on our dates. The place is great as a base. Rooms comfortable and plenty of hot water for baths and showers. Breakfast is top notch - cold meats, fruit salad, yoghurts, eggs, bacon, lovely sausages, as well as bread, rolls and croissants. Only faults were juices are out a machine and not very ‘real’ and they use margarine from the 70s, if you can remember that far back. We used the indoor pool on the 6th floor, which was warm enough in October. Parking is the one big issue if you have a hire car. The website is correct, there is plenty of free parking, but finding a space after 2pm is virtually impossible as the residents of the flats beat you to them! Good holiday and hotel. Very Covid compliant and clean. Reception staff are very friendly. Would gladly come back.

We chose Malta for a last minute deal, Malta was on our list of places to visit, 1L palazzin is not normally the sort of hotel we would choose but we were really pleased with our choice, we arrived about 8pm and were quickly checked in and given our room key (116) after chucking our cases in we headed out for food, location of this hotel is perfect, close to shops restaurants & the bus station, there is no noise of an evening either so you get a good nights sleep, Our room was on the 1st floor over looking the pool, room was lovely and of a good size & most of all it was extremely clean, any issues were dealt with straight away, we went for a relaxing holiday but what we got got something totally different as we were up & out every day visiting Valletta Rabat Mdina St Pauls bay Bugibba Qawra we explored everything on the door step, the nation aquarium the car museum and much much more, we never ate at the hotel so cannot comment on that but what I can say Is we definitely chose well, rooms are great pool although small it is adequate & fab for a well needed dip in the 30 degree heat, both ladies on reception are fab, Simon the manager always spoke when he seen us and kindly printed off our plf forms for our return, hotel also recommended where to get our covid swabs done for our return & again went smoothly, results were back & printed out in less than 15 minutes, We really enjoyed Malta & Staying at this hotel only added to our time here, this hotel fits in more with the traditional buildings which I love Thank you & we will be back again as still much more to see & do Alison & Trevor 25.9.21-02.10.21 room 116

An amazing experience for my wife’s birthday. Everything was perfect from the rooms, to the food to the staff. Simon and the rest are definitely the best hotel staff in Malta. When it comes to the COVID-19 measures, they are all abided by. Highly reccomended

A huge thank you to Simon, Roslyn, and the rest of the staff for another amazing holiday. Our 3rd time staying at this hotel and wouldn’t go anywhere else. Superior rooms are a very good size and the bed is very comfy. The cleaners on the top floor are lovely and do a great job every day. Great selection of food for breakfast. See you next year.

great location and price. nice employees, simple but good breakfast. our room was 505, it had shade in the morning so not too hot. great restaurants around the area. the area was very nice - surrounded by apartments and actual Maltese living there. sadly, our last night was ruined by the hotel's night receptionist's. even though the employees are nice and professional, we were led down. at 4 am in the morning a drunk man was led into our room, thinking that our room is his room (his room was 405). the man starts yelling, we start yelling and in seconds he realizes that he was let into the wrong room. basically, what happened, the night receptionist didn't check which room number the guest is staying in and just let the guest into our room. needless to say, it was a traumatizing experience. the hotel apologized, we spoke to the manager, he explained the situation and gave us 40EUR experience. as we were leaving the next day, he said: "I wish I could compensate you somehow, but it seems you are leaving". I worked in the hotel industry for 5 years, but you don't have to be an expert to understand that it was a poor conflict resolution... I personally wouldn't stay again.
