Not a bad resort with decent facilities, but could definitely be improved. We arrived quite late and were greeted by the worst staff member that we came across during our entire week there; so our first impression wasn’t great. He certainly lacked the helpfulness that all other staff seemed to provide, and I can say all the other staff we came across were friendly and very helpful. Overall, we enjoyed staying there, but like many all inclusive options, the food can get a bit boring and I was hugely disappointed that we were never informed about the kids water play area being closed. If I could give it 3.5/5 as Good then I would. I’ll cover off the detailed review 3 mains areas … FACILITIES – this resort has a good range of facilities including a indoor pool, spa, gym, Spa services, kids club (Animation team) and water points (as you cannot drink the tap water in Malta). When we were there (early April) the main pool was very cold and it is not heated. It’s a decent size, but I can see that in the height of summer, it would get very crowded. There is an outdoor baby pool which is tucked away in a corner that sees no sunshine. I was extremely disappointed that the kids water play area was closed during our visit and we were never informed of this prior to our arrival. They offer hotel pool towels which cost EU10 refundable deposit each. The indoor pool is useful during colder weather, but its small with around 15 sun beds and can get very busy. The 10th floor bar, restaurant and pool were closed during this time, but that is clearly started on the website. I am not sure if the kids club at this time of year differs to summer, but it felt much more like a creche where you can drop your kids off for them to play; 7 days a week. My kids enjoyed it, but it seems different to other kids clubs we have used. There is a kids disco 6 nights a week and it is pretty much the same every night. There is also a show/entertainment at the main bar every night. The animation team are great and put in a lot of effort into the entertainment. Its handy that there are a water filling points around the resort so bring a water bottle with you and our room had a large glass jug for water as well. There is a decent size supermarket opposite the resort and around the corner. The area itself is a bit more rundown than I expected and there is a lot of development going around. The ‘beach’ is a quick walk away and the closest one is quite small. The aquarium and nice playground is around 10mins walk away and lovely for an evening stroll. FOOD – There is the main restaurant and then another 3-4 (depending on time of year) additional restaurants. The main restaurant is the standard walk-in buffet and that’s where they serve breakfast, lunch, late lunch and dinner. The other restaurants only serve dinner and need to be booked. We tried Salia, which appeared to be the best one, however our experience there was disappointing and therefore didn’t bother trying the other 2 buffet places. We did not have All Inclusive +, so our option at Salia was only for the set menu and I assume maybe the full menu could have been better. The food at the main buffet has a good variety, but admittedly after 6-7 days it gets repetitive and a bit boring. The late lunch option is the same every day. There is also a café at the front which offers drinks, ice cream, cakes/tarts and pastries; everything except for the pastries are part of the all inclusive package. There is also an All Inclusive+ specific room, which I understand can be used by anyone who is All Include late at night (we went after midnight to get a snack). ROOM – we had a family room for 4 and to set the expectation it is quite a cozy room. It did have a table inside and outside on the balcony so at least there was usable furniture. I was impressed by the storage in the room which had decent hanging space, drawers and cupboards to store everything; which included a mini fridge. Our room was on the first floor near the fire exit and it was pretty noisy; including the fire door slamming. Some mornings from around 7am we could hear people upstairs jumping around and on some days furniture being dragged around. If available, they offer late check out at a cost of EU10 per hour and you can only check and confirm this on the morning of your check out.

Hotel's Favorite
We stayed here for a winter break. What a great choice. The 4 star hotel is lovely. The reception area/lobby is very nice with lots of comfortable chairs to sit and chat to fellow guests. The hotel is in a good location with the seafront and long promenade immediately behind it. The bus station is less than five minutes from the hotel. For 2 euros you get 2 hours of travel all over the island. We were really pleased with our room on the 4th floor. It was a good size with a nice bathroom and a small balcony. It was well equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, table and chairs, sofa etc. There was a table and chairs on the balcony. We were all inclusive. The hotel offers 4 restaurants. Three are buffets. The main one offers a fantastic variety of good quality, delicious food. There is a good salad bar, one or two soups, at least three types of meat and two of fish. There is an excellent choice of vegetables. For dessert you are spoilt for choice. There are always several gateaux, three flavours of ice cream and other assorted deserts. You can help yourself to iced water, fruit juice, red, white or rose wine (all on tap) or get coffee, tea etc from machines stationed around the restaurant. I defy anyone to say that they have not enjoyed the food. You get as much choice at lunch as you do at dinner. Two of the three other restaurants are also buffets, one offering Moroccan dishes with an Indian twist, the other offering Mexican dishes. Both are good but our favourite was the Salia. This is full a la carte restaurant with wonderful, delicious food all served by very polite and friendly staff.A good choice to sit, meet and chat to other guests is the Cafe Maroc which is alongside the lobby. They serve up lots of speciality coffees and teas and also have a selection of gateaux and ice creams. We spent lots of time here enjoying cappuccinos, coffee with Maltese liquor and the like. They also serve soft drinks, beer, wine, cocktails and other alcoholic drinks so there is something for everyone. The best place for fun in the evening is the Kosy Bar. The staff mix up fantastic cocktails which are all delicious. Every evening the entertainment team deliver very enjoyable shows involving song, dance and acrobatics/gymnastics. We enjoyed every minute. There are three swimming pools at this hotel. The outside one is large with areas for children and adults. There are plenty of sunbeds. There is a children's playground nearby. On the top deck there is a bar and lovely infinity pool with views to the sea. This was closed for the winter but we could look out to it. There is also an indoor pool but we did not visit itI want to end my review of this great hotel with the thing that was most important in giving us a great holiday - THE STAFF. The management of this hotel have put together the most amazing team of employees. From reception, cleaners, restaurant workers, Cafe Maroc, Kosy Bar staff,( hopefully I have not left anyone out,) all were super friendly, super polite, extremely hard working and best of all, made everyone feel important and very welcome. This is a must return to destination! Many thanks to the staff at db San Antonio Hotel and Spa for giving us a memorable holiday.

lovely hotel and staff, if your looking for a not so hot country to go away i recommend malta in april. the weather was alright the wind made it feel a lot colder than it was (around 18 degrees). the hotel was lovely, had a nice outdoor area and pool with a bar, wasn’t the best to sit outdoors with the wind. has a nice small indoor pool and spa area (have to pay separately for spa treatments) the pool, sauna and jacuzzi are included in your stay. the restaurant and food was lovely depending on what you like, a lot of fish meals and pasta. the entertainment for the hotel is good, has a different act for the different days. the day trips out are lovely we did Valleta and the aquarium, pretty cheap to do, taxi to valleta ranged around 26 euro with the hotel taxi. aquarium was 16.90 euro each to do, around a 5-10 min walk from the hotel. wouldn’t recommend doing the blue lagoon or boat trips during april as the weather is quite cold and windy. had lovely shops on the street around the hotel. coast nearby to the hotel which had a bar on the coast lovely views. overall i would recommend this hotel and malta, i would recommend going may/june for nice weather and to enjoy the outdoor area more.

Great place to stay with the family. Food was great with a decent variety and the staff lovely. Would recommend the spa which was amazing. Facial from Maya and Indian body massage from Kavitha were particular highlights. Treatments available offered different and traditional options and everyone was great.

This was our fourth visit to the Db San Antonio, accompanied this time by our family, so 9 adults spread over 4 rooms in total. POSITIVES As before the food and drink offering during our stay was good. We particularly enjoyed the Salia (Med/Italian) dining experience. The coffee shop remains our favourite. We enjoyed various spa / massage treatments between us at the Pearl Spas and all were very highly regarded and inexpensive. The entertainment provided was reasonable but not of the quality previously encountered at the Db. NEGATIVES We were disappointed on arrival to find that the SkyBar was closed which apparently opens for the summer season in May. (Our fault as we hadn't realised!). Surely the hotel could have this great facility open for the Easter holidays? The rooms allocated to us- standard- were poor and in much need of modernisation. We ourselves requested a move twice from room 246, a Batcave, to 345,a room in which a disgusting smell is ubiquitous, to finally a semi decent room ,305. Apparently there is a major programme of renovation being carried out and I have to say the families 4 rooms would suggest it is not before time. Overall we enjoyed ourselves once again but perhaps it is now time to look at alternatives for our Maltese holidays.

Visited for an out of season week away. Wanted to go somewhere we hadn't been before. Chose Malta because it looked like there was a lot to see and easy to get around the island using the buses and ferries etc. Well Malta 🇲🇹,you certainly didn't disappoint 👏. The island is beautiful and the people are friendly and welcoming. The DB san Antonio didn't disappoint either .lovely, modern hotel ,tasty food, delicious drinks and in a fabulous location.,couple minutes walk from the main bus station. We had a sea view room, which over looked the pools too. Again was modern and spacious with a big walk in shower, with the 2 options ,rainfall or hose. Frequented the coffee shop ,every morning for cocktails and cakes . We also tried the various alcoholic Coffee's which were strong and tasty too.A big shout out to KATARINA & SALLY ,great service ,lovely ladies. Would be return 🤔 100% so YES,if you're thinking of booking - you won't be disappointed 👍

We travelled with a group of wheelchair users. This hotel has several assistance rooms, so spacy and bathroom adapted for the wheelchair 👌🏼. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Food very tasty and varied. Little minus for the elevators to reach the restaurant : only 1 out of 2 in use and very small, so it took forever to get the 12 wheelchair down to eat. Special mention for ROSHANI at the Guéliz restaurant : always smiling and a nice word for everyone!

We had a wonderful week at this lovely hotel. We travelled with two kids (age 7 and 10). The pool area is lovely and even when the hotel was busy we had no issues getting good sunbeds at anytime. The pirate ship was closed for maintenance, but this wasn’t an issue for us as the main pool was a great depth for the girls and they also enjoyed the indoor pool in the mornings. The food was very nice, we particularly enjoyed the tagine restaurant and breakfasts. The cafe Maroc was great and we used it a lot for ice cream/coffee/pre dinner drinks, lovely staff. Public transport is good and easy to use, we made our way to Valletta and Gozo this way. The girls used the kids club and enjoyed it and the entertainment we saw was brilliant! The staff are all lovely and you are always greeted with a smile. Overall I’d recommend! Fabulous week in the sun.
