Hotel Santana garners appreciation for its prime location near the bus station, seafront, and local amenities, with numerous guests highlighting its spotlessness and well-equipped rooms. However, some guests have called out issues with noise disturbances and inconsistencies in room quality. While the staff receives commendations for their attentiveness, there are occasional reports of unresponsiveness. Opinions on value are split, with praises for transport costs and half board options, but criticisms regarding the all-inclusive offerings. Amenities overall are well-regarded, though improvement in pool maintenance and towel supply has been suggested.

Myself and my partner booked Malta last minute as our holiday to Lanzarote was cancelled due to the current pandemic. We decided to book Malta as it was somewhere we had never tried before, we also heard how hot and nice the waters are there. We managed to find a good deal at the hotel Santana.

We stayed 8th-15th August all inclusive. The drinks and food was good quality for the price we paid, all the staff wore masks and where very friendly and helpful. Only issue we had our room was very small, wasn’t a massive issue was we only used it to sleep and get ready in but was a tight squeeze at times but it was very well air conditioned.

Location of the hotel is good, not far from the promenade where the boat trips sail from and the bus station is near by where you can get buses around the island. Mask are mandatory to wear in shops and public transport which isn’t a problem.

We went on a boat trip called ‘sea breeze’, was brilliant, its a new trip on a Catamaran was €30 but definitely worth it was more chilled and has sun beds. You can also pay €15 to get a BBQ lunch or can bring your own packed lunch.

There was a few bars at night time but wasn’t as busy as it usually is I believe but think due to people currently not flying out as much as usual. We didn’t mind as it actually meant we made most of the days. And we needed the chill time as both of us had been working loads and needed the break. There is a casino on the promenade which we visited, we don't usually go to them in the uk so was quite fun and something different.

If I returned to Malta and stayed in same resort I would definitely return to hotel Santana. Only thing I’d recommend would be to have more entertainment on for the guests at night time, they had couple of singers on now and again at the down stairs bar. But I know it may be more difficult than usually is to maybe sort entertainment as not sure if they usually have more on.

Also if you like it hot Malta is definitely the place to be! It Was around 32+ degrees everyday!

Booked as a last minute getaway and having never been to Malta decided to book the Hotel Santana after reading mostly positive reviews on here.

We arrived after a 30 min transfer from the airport to be greeted by pleasant evening staff at about 9pm. We were allocated room 214 at the front of the hotel above reception. Upon checking the room and the balcony we were faced with a very noisy aircon fan - Nope - Didn't like that so went back to reception to ask to change. Hotel was full so were told to ask again the next morning after breakfast. We did this and were moved to a better bigger family room (324) which was perfect.

We were staying on a B&B Basis as we like to try local foods and support smaller businesses.

Breakfast was great, plentiful and hot, always somewhere to sit and staff were very pleasant. Only slightly annoying thing was the small packets of butter! You need an engineers degree and very strong fingers to open them!! I ended up just stabbing them with my knife to get in them!

All staff were very nice and attentive.

The location is great too, Many bars and smaller restaurants to eat or drink at on the doorstep and the bus station is a minute walk away. Here you can buses all over the island but don't expect to see one on time.....

Pool towels you can collect from reception for a 5 euro deposit and change when needed. We didn't drink in the bar so can't comment about this.

All in all a very nice hotel with great staff. Big thanks to Vivi and the young gentleman on reception. Both were a great help with bus info and sorting other things out quickly.

Just back after a week, we had brilliant stay in the hotel.
We stayed in a Comfort room which is a very nice, modern, spacious room, very well kept and cleaned daily, A/C was a life-safer in the everyday 35 C. As this was an anniversary trip we had a bottle of wine and sweets in the room waiting for us on arrival. The hotel itself was very clean throughout and adhering to the covid-19 regulations. Brilliant staff all over - in the restaurant, in the bars, housekeeping, Reception. We had breakfast and dinners included, food was fresh and varied.
Location of the hotel was great too, close to the bus terminus and the sea, surrounded by shops, bars, restaurants.
Would definitely stay there again.

Lovely hotel receptionists very friendly and helpful. Foyer very clean lots of seating and a bar where entertainment is although it is geared to older generation.
Rooms I would recommend booking comfort rooms on high floors very spacious. Fridge, hairdryer, toiletries, safe, couch, table and chairs and good sized balcony with table and chairs also air conditioning. Rooms are serviced every 2nd day no complaint at all.
Pool on roof very clean feel not suitable for younger children only tiny little section still quite deep also gets quite crowded but no glass allowed from bar 1 floor down which does lunch baguettes were really nice. Towels can be got from reception €5 deposit which is returned u can replace them as often as you need.
Indoor pool and jacuzzi freezing nobody used it needs to be heated shame as a nice calming room. Spa treatments avaible did not use so cannot comment.
Dining room clean but food really not good unless you can eat rabbit, duck, pork etc lived on cold meats and bread . Breakfast has most things.
All inclusive is only worth it if u drink a lot nice thing u can take bottles or cans with u if going on a trip.
Area is nice but a little confusing till u get used to it as it leads to a different coast right or left, plenty little shops and cafes/restaurants.
All trips pick up from hotel and bus station 5 mins away. Tip: Use public buses, open top bus was awful probably the most boring trip seeing very little and 6 hours long .
Overall would come back but B&B only .

Stayed here for 1 week in October we can not fault this lovely hotel it is in a nice quiet location but handy to everything there is a bus stop just round the corner. This hotel is spotless rooms cleaned every day you can get pool towels for a €5 deposit which is refunded when you hand them back plus you can change them when needed. Rooms were lovely and for once we found the bed very comfortable!! Nice size balcony too. We loved the roof top pool there is loads of sun loungers and sun bathing on different floor levels so no shortage of sun loungers. The indoor pool and jacuzzi was so nice too. The dining room was big there was lots of different food available at meal times salads fruit and a selection of hot meals from rabbit fish meats and gorgeous deserts we were half board plus so there was wine beer tea coffee soft drinks on tap. I loved the breakfast different breads cereals fruit yoghurts etc and of course hot breakfast sausage bacon eggs etc there was a few different toast tea coffee juice stations so you were able to make toast etc right away. The staff work very hard clearing away plates etc straight away. There is a lady in the hotel who arranges trips etc but we used graham who is right outside the hotel every day. We will definitely be back again only problem I have is we should of booked for 2 weeks!! My mum in law came with us and the hotel put us in rooms next door to each other room 403 and 405 so thank you for that I loved the fact we had a small fridge tea coffee facility in our rooms. There is a shop few doors down we bought our fresh milk in there. If you are reading this review go ahead and book it we so enjoyed our stay thanks for a great holiday we will see you again pauline kev Northern Ireland

Just got back from a 2 week fully inclusive break to the Santana staying in a double standard room. I have stayed in a lot of hotels from 2 star up to 5 stars, and I am not sure this one is actually a 4 star! Maybe a good 3? Location was good for convenience, no actual views though unless you stand on a chair with binoculars or go on the rooftop area. The pool area was uninspiring with a small rectangular pool and it got very overcrowded and although we like the odd pool day, we actually paid to go to a local lido instead as it was a far more pleasant area. The indoor pool looked lovely but never used it. There are 3 bars in the hotel, but one of them was closed in the Zazen Garden area, which is a shame as it was a lovely part of the hotel but not utilised to its full potential. Getting a drink out there was painfully slow. The cocktails didnot really look like cocktails and got served in plastic glasses outside. The entertainment was sporadic and quite poor, unless you like some guy on a keyboard belting out Elton John covers. Because of the speed of service and poor entertainment we ended up going out of the hotel every night which added to the costs when we had actually paid all inclusive. The food in the restaurant was nice, good selection but unfortunately usually cold, or just about warm. There were some great staff in there, Anton, Karen, Sylvia to name but 3, but the staff were a bit too great sometimes, as your plate etc was whipped from under you as soon as you took your last forkful. If you like going out on day trips I would not bother with fully inclusive as we only had lunch about 4 times. The pool bar is handy if you want a wrap or sandwich, but no hot food. The cleaning of the room was hit and miss, we had 2 different staff and one of them was great, but the other one left stained cups in the room, and dirty glasses. The Floor cleaning was mediocre as I dropped a glass and we got most of it up, but without brush etc hard to do, so we monitored the shards that were left behind under the sink and they were still there when we left over a week later. Also, sheets were left on when they had stains or marks on them. No laundry service unless you pay loads and it takes 3 days as its sent away. It might sound a bit petty, because overall we had a good holiday, but if you are expecting a 4 star hotel with the appropriate level of service, you may be disappointed, we saw other 4 star hotels in the area that seemed superior for facilities, decor etc.

No complaints, booked a comfort room on a bed and breakfast basis. Lucky to get an end room so we had a large sweeping balcony with a residential view. Do not expect sea views or anything spectacular, the location of the hotel prevents this and the only views are from the rooftop pool area. The hotel has a very central location and is within reach of basically everything. Several local bars and restaurants are very close by and I must give a special mention to Diana’s bar which is literally 30 seconds from the front steps.
Hotel staff are very polite and helpful and all speak excellent English. We only grabbed a quick breakfast once or twice so I’m not going to comment on the food. Lots of very good cafes close by serving quality breakfasts at reasonable prices.
Pool area is small but serves it’s purpose very well with a well priced bar. Sun beds are always available.
Rooms are well equipped and our A/C was exceptional and very welcome. Tip, make sure the patio is closed and that the red power button on the top right of the controls is red. Hairdryer in bathroom and a small selection of toiletries was made available.
If you’re like us and never been to Malta be aware that there’s a lot of building work going on and there are numerous buildings that have been left incomplete. This unfortunately is common all over the resort so you can’t really complain or blame the Santana. It did not spoil our holiday at all, I must emphasise that. Be careful when booking trips, use the old fella under the tress opposite the hotel, we made the mistake of booking in the hotel and learned a lesson. All in all a very very pleasant stay.

After previously staying at seashells and Qawra palace I thought I would give Santana and try and was happy with my choice.

Checked in towards midnight which was swift, and our comfort room was lovely, spacious and clean. Kettle provided, large shower, not a fan of the beds but that is just my preference as it was too soft and I can never get used to 2 single beds being pushed together. The air con worked well, got switched off around 9am, not sure what time it came back on as we were out all day. My only small gripe being the room cleaning during our stay. The towels were changed if you left them on the floor and the bin was emptied, but not much more than that. Beverage supplies nor toiletries and occasionally loo roll were not replenished. I don’t think anything was swept or mopped, aside from 1 day out of the 7. No drama though and I’m sure reception would assist if I raised an issue.

All the staff were lovely and worked so hard from reception to dining room. Speaking of dining room, we went half board and found the food was good. Yes, there is nowhere near as much choice as some of the places I have been, but what they had was good quality, well thought out and cooked well. Brekkie had cereals, cooked items, fruit etc (some pancakes etc would be good 😀) evening meal… always one fish and a couple of meat options with 1 potato accompaniment and assorted veg. There was soup and pasta every night, which was the only vegetarian option really. Maybe putting on another vegetarian main would be good idea? They don’t really cater for kids, but if you ask they will knock something up as I seen a lad with chicken nuggets and chips which I wouldn’t have minded 😀

The hotel facilities… I loved the indoor pool for a quick dip in the afternoon and it was rarely crowded. Bloody nippy though but it woke me up after being out and about all day. I visited the outdoor pool a couple of times, not much room to have a swim though. There are sun loungers on the top floor with the pool, and also around the 6th floor. Usually found one if I wanted one. Not sure I would recommend all inclusive as there wasn’t much to keep you there during the day or evening. Not really any entertainment which is fine by me. There is a little library and you can use their PCs too which is good.

We found the location perfect, right near the bus station and lots of little mini markets nearby. We went via boat to Gozo from Bugibba, hop on hop off 15 euro and also stops at Comino. Then picked up an open top bus at Mgarr. Took the bus to sliema and then the ferry to Valetta which was around 3 euro return. Bus to Mdina and Mellieha for a day on the lovely beach.

All in all, great hotel, great holiday. I haven’t been to Malta for a few years but I don’t think it’s changed much. Not sure I would rush back again next year, but I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Me and my new husband stayed here from 16th till 20th January, we live on gozo and with travel restrictions in place because of covid decided to go to malta for a couple of days, and choose the Santana, because of its location and parking and the fact it had also a heated pool and jacuzzi, and breakfast included, which was fantastic lots to choose from,
The rooms where large clean and modern, clean towels and room service every day, shampoo, shower gel and conditioner. Hair dryer, tea coffee and milk, small fridge
My only complaint is not enough plug sockets especially at the side of the beds or near the mirror,
The staff were friendly and polite, hotel clean bar was good not exspensive, 2 for 1 at 7pm. Thinking of coming back end of February

I stayed at The Santana for 15 nights aug/sept. I had a comfort room on the 5th floor, lovely room, nice decor, comfy bed, exceptional bathroom and all kept lovely and clean throughout my stay. The views aren’t brilliant but, if you want a sea view room, pay the extortionate prices at the sea front hotels! To put into context, I was talking to a lovely couple who were staying at one of the “exclusive” sea front hotels, I paid just over £1000 inc flights/transfer etc for my 15 nights at the Santana all inclusive, ate at the hotel almost every meal and enjoyed the meals, not a vast selection but, everything cooked really well, the pool bar does lovely wraps, baguettes and toasted sandwiches and, as a person who suffers if food is not up to standard, I did not suffer the dreaded funny tummy at all. The couple I was talking to paid £3500 for 15 nights at the “exclusive” sea front hotel and, unfortunately, we’re not able to eat any of the food at their hotel!! Says it all really!!
The entertainment at The Santana is not very good, Jamie on a Tuesday night is brilliant, Vince is ok too, but the others, hmmm I’ll say no more 😂

The staff, what can I say, receptionists were very pleasant and helpful, a credit to the hotel. The bar staff, servers…flipping amazing!!! Sofi, Lilla, Beata, Mina, Reni, Sam, Boyan and Prabish…You all need a huge pay rise 😘 So friendly, so hard working, and, the patience of a saint with some guests 😂 Fantastic, each and every one of you, thank you for making my holiday so enjoyable.

The hotel is in a fantastic location, 10 mins walk to the seafront, 5 mins to the main bus station, shops and bars all around. Oh, and the guy across the road, sat with a car selling trips, can’t recommend him enough for excursions! Had a brilliant day trip to Gozo and The Blue Lagoon off him, and the hop on hop off open top bus tour!

I will definitely be returning to the Santana, in all honesty, probably one of the best holidays I’ve had…From the warm welcome off the staff and, so many lovely guests who never let me sit alone…I thank you all 😘😘
