Hotel is always great and very dog friendly. The food in the restaurant is good. There ia also a nice bar in the evening. We stop there on our road trip to Florida .FELIPE is the best valet, he was very friendly and helpful.
The Quirk is a beautifully restored hotel with a very welcoming, attentive and professional staff. The hotel provides for a very comfortable and relaxing stay. Would highly recommend this hotel for anyone needing to stay in Richmond
From the time we arrived, Felipe with the valet service made us feel welcome and catered to. The whole staff was a pleasure, but Felipe stood out! I would come back, especially because the hotel is dog friendly.
The hotel is beautiful and in a great location. However, the noise was terrible on the 6th floor where we were located. Loud banging above and outside of our room woke us up from midnight to 7:00 a.m. We had to turn off the heat in our room because the noise from the system was even louder. We were provided extra blankets in case our room was cold after turning off the heat and offered a room switch for tomorrow night when additional rooms will be available. Being awake for most of the night isn't worth the accommodations. We have visited the Quirk several times over the years, and this was our first poor experience. Visiting here is a splurge for us, and to have a bad experience is beyond disappointing.
The hotel is a trendy stop. It’s quite basic hidden behind all the art and trends….. It has weird little things about it which I didn’t love….. Bar doesn’t open til 3, only breakfast available is from the cafe section. The staff hosting breakfast were beyond miserable. No water, condiments, all too much hassle for them. Maybe that’s trendy these days but it’s not great. Otherwise OK but a couple of nights was enough.
We had a quick overnight stay in Richmond and staying at the Quirk was a highlight. Both ourloft suite and standard room were immaculate and well appointed for the traveler. We had a relaxing drink in the Lobby Bar and enjoyed chatting with locals who love the Quirk as a local art/shopping and dining gem. The owner was on site and despite a busy weekend, proved gracious and enthusiastic.
We stayed here and had two rooms. Both immaculate and wonderful. Had drinks in the well conceived and sociable bar area where we met locals who enjoy the the lobby bar, referring to it as a “local treasure” Happened to meet the founder who was working on a project (on a Sunday) and was so impressed with what she has built for those of us that love a great hotel experience.
Beautiful hotel! Clean. Great bar area. Extremely friendly staff. However, neighborhood sketchy at best. Did not feel safe walking to restaurant. Should have ate in the hotel restaurant, but found out you needed reservations and there were no slots left.
I have to say I was not a fan of the nouveau thirsty pink decor, but assuming you wish to sleep there, the biggest negative of the Quirk Hotel Richmond is noise transfer from both the hallway and neighboring rooms. We could hear all the hallway noise and not just the baby next door but also the baby’s parents gently and frantically shushing him. The tall ceilings and hard floors create a bouncy echo chamber for every sound. In addition, the room is poorly set up for guests — little or no space in the bathroom for toiletries or jewelry, and the sink was tall with the faucet awkwardly set back. The two beds were not Queen sized; they were full sized. Also, no water glasses (disposable coffee cups only) and if you want a robe or to have your room cleaned, you have to go downstairs to ask. Really? This would have been “quirky” in a mid-priced boutique hotel, but for the money this was unacceptable. My spouse reserved this hotel for a special experience. We were disappointed. The lobby was well done, if you like that sort of preciousness, and the rooftop bar was fun. You don’t have to be a guest to enjoy either of those.…
Had a great stay here. Very friendly from check in to check out. Nice rooftop bar. Really good tapas servings. (Really good toast dish) nice cocktails and draft selection. Great view of city skyline. Morning coffee bistro station in lobby. Loved our room 413. Corner room with huge windows.
