I stayed in one of the suites, which I sometimes do for business travel when I know I'll need space to work. The "living room" space was terribly under-furnished and under-appointed. It had a couch and two chairs haphazardly thrown in. There was virtually nothing else except an ill-fitting refrigerator and conspicuous lamp wires. It felt like a college student had been living there and left his junky furniture behind, and no one bothered to clean up. I didn't use the room at all, completely negating the point of a suite. See photos. Similarly, the desk near the bed in the bedroom was a piece of plywood nailed to the wall. It looked like someone had then dumped varnish on it, but without properly mixing the varnish, so the end result was an ugly, sticky mess. My teenage son could have done better in his eighth grade woodworking class. Honestly, for a $550/night suite, it was just weird. Overall, the room was slapdash and unprofessional. Also, I've been to hotels before that boast art collections -- this one doesn't register. The art is very sparse and not thoughtfully curated. I would not have known they claimed an art collection if the website didn't say so. Bottom line: I would not return to this property.…
The Quirk is a beautifully restored hotel with a very welcoming, attentive and professional staff. The hotel provides for a very comfortable and relaxing stay. Would highly recommend this hotel for anyone needing to stay in Richmond
Save your money! As a restaurant, it's 5-stars. As a luxury hotel, it's poor. Rooms are sterile (think Ikea), amenities are few, and the service is slipshod. No washcloths or body wash in the room, the valet brought us the wrong car, and I got an unexplained $151 charge after we left. My wife had to threaten to file a fraud report before the hotel wiped the chage away nearly two weeks later. This is NOT how a supposed luxury hotel should act. I'll never stay here again.
My husband and I stayed one night at Quirk Hotel in Richmond to celebrate our anniversary. Although our dinner was great, nothing else about the experience measured up to expectations. Our room had two towels- no bath mat, no washcloths, no hand towels. Valet brought us wrong car after a very long wait. But the worst was a mystery $151 charge that showed up on our credit card for dinner and parking even though we paid those separately on our credit card. We have disputed the charge, but Quirk is digging in their heels. I’ve reported it to our credit card company. Wouldn’t stay here again ever.
Thought this would be an interesting place to stay but repeatedly underwhelmed. Front desk not friendly. Most valet not friendly. Bathroom faucet runs water onto counter. No fan in the bathroom. No one came to clean our room during our three night stay; two days in, we asked for someone to-twice- and all we got was someone emptied the garbage can and gave us two new bath mats one time. And some attitude. During our stay there was a fashion show in the lobby which occluded the nearest exit from the elevator so there was no way to get out without interrupting and no one around to direct traffic. Drinks spilled in elevator (rooftop bar). The general feeling is no one who works here actually cares. Do not recommend.
The Hotel advertises as Pet-Friendly when they mean dogs only! I suggested the website reflect this information, and the front desk person hung up on me. The interaction was not professional and I was very disappointing.
Quirk Hotel is delightful. Wherever you look, you see creative touches and artistic design. I love the lobby, I could sit there for hours. The bed was great, the night was quiet, so I got good sleep. The neighborhood is colorful and alive in a good way. Loved my stay!
Spent $407 for a room, you would think they would include bottled water in the room. They would give it to you if you went to the front desk and asked for it. Why not just put it in the room?? No light over coffee area and the machine didn't work. Bathroom faucet wasn't large enough so water went all over counter. Pillows were poor quality and only queen size for a king bed. Balcony not completely separated from room next door. Charged $17 for a $15 glass of wine. We wanted to try a different hotel in Richmond, we were better off at the Jefferson or Graduate.
The barista is also the waiter, the order taker and the buser. The bartender is understaffed and rude. The check-in host was rude and unfriendly. The hotel itself is well renovated and very pink. That was very disappointing.
Our third stay with Quirk was as amazing as ever. The hospitality is second to know. Always beautiful and clean. Great food. We could not recommend this place more. Everything is consistently above and beyond our expectations!
