Visiting Richmond for a conference, I had to book last minute, and realised that all other hotels near the convention centre were fully booked. It was quite hard to find this hotel - it wasn't on Expedia, I just stumbled upon it on Google Maps. Having emailed for availability, the owner, Abe, gave me a very good rate. Upon arrival... More

In December I had to come and stay in Richmond, VA. It was a last minute trip due to the fact that I had an unfortunate family emergency and needed to be close to the MCV hospital. When I got to Richmond I passed by the Massad House Hotel and decided I would stop and take a look. As soon... More

I reviewed this place back in November 2009 when I was there for the Richmond Marathon. I ran it again in November 2013, and stayed here again. Again, I know that people really have strong feelings about it, but I didn't see a ton of negatives. Definitely, this place is not for people who are used to W Hotels, or... More

I think these reviews are horribly wrong...My mom an I stayed at this Hotel in March of 2010 and loved it...The things that attracted us to it was their quaintness..european charm, such as their antique elevator..the high postered beds an the eagerness an politeness of every employee we encountered.  All reasons  we wanted to stay again, on our trip from New... My friend and I reserved this hotel in advance online because of the location. The entire place smells of smoke and mold. Very old and not kept up well. To get up to our room, we were shown to a 2x2 unventalated elevator. Room was extremely small and bathroom no more than a closet. The hotel would not refund any... More

Friendly communications online, made it easy for 3 of us to get the accommodations we wanted. Upon arrival all staff members we encountered on various shifts were very friendly and helpful. The Hotel is a bit older, but very well located and very well priced next to similar options nearby. Only a few blocks from the State Capitol, and right... More

This one of the worst places I've ever stayed for a hotel. When I finished taking my shower and reached for the towel; snatched it off the towel rack, I was met by roaches. All night roaches crept on the rug, the bathtub, my toothpaste tube, toothbrush and everything else. The comforter itself was infested with cigarette smoke as well... More

I don't meet to be mean to the hotel. The employees are great and very welcoming. Nonetheless, I the hotel is not very clean, the rooms are narrow, and it smells smoke everywere. There are signs forbitting smoking but I don't believe the rule is reinforced. I believe it they can do something about the smoking and renew some of... More

I went to Richmond to run the Suntrust Richmond Marathon in November 2009. I'd been lazy about getting rooms at the downtown hotels and found this one on Google maps (the hotel doesn't have a website). While the other hotels had been charging triple digit figures with minimum 2-night stays (as reported via promotional e-mails), this place charged me less... More
