There were COVID precautions in place which I appreciated and the staff were all nice. However, in the morning I woke up and saw two mice running from underneath the bed. Generally, I think Red Roofs are a hit or a miss, they can be a great deal but this is not one of those locations. If you really need somewhere to stay for one night and you don't mind the risk of possibly having uninvited guests then this place could work. If mice are something you can't handle I would consider going somewhere else.

We usually stay at the Richmond, VA Red Roof Inn on our way to and from our Seasonal home in Florida. The room assigned to us was a nightmare! There was mold growing on the wall in the bathroom as well as the wall itself looked as though the upstairs toilet has been leaking. The bathtub had a patch with rust all over it. The floors were absolutely filthy. For some strange reason the heat and the AC were on full blast when we entered the room. The side of the refrigerator had crusted food caked to it. I didn't dare open it. I have been a loyal Red Roof customer for years but this experience really turned me off especially during this time of the Pandemic. I am appealing to Ken Patel to due more diligence to the upkeep of this hotel before this place continues to be a undesirable stop over by I95 travelers and corporate visitors to the Marlboro Corporation down the street.

The receptionist seemed bothered I was there to check in so it started off wrong. The room was average at best and the bed was wonky. It was fairly loud so I had trouble sleeping. I would skip this hotel if visiting again.

Walls at floors were darkened with grime or filth. Door bolt had been torn off, I tried to modify it with a pocket knife. The parking lot was scattered with shards of glass. I was worried about letting my dog walk on it, actually. The evening attendant was a very nice young lady. The morning attendant was a snarky woman who needed to learn how to smile. The desk attendant gets locked in over night and won’t come out until 7:30, which means no coffee is available until 7:30 and there’s no coffee maker in the room. Are they even close about guest amenities? Concerns? Not!

Dear guest, We are disappointed if one of our guests leaves with less than first rate experience. Our aim is to provide a clean, comfortable and pleasant place to stay. We sincerely apologize that our hospitality and attention to details left something to be desired, this is very unlike us. Thank you for sharing your feedback. Please feel free to connect if there is anything we can do to help. We sincerely hope that you will give us another chance to restore your faith in our hotel and hospitality

We chose this hotel because of the pet policy, and because the parking lot was big enough to maneuver a Uhaul truck towing a car via tow dolly. We had planned to go to the Motel 6 Petersburg/Ft Lee that night but did not stay there, because the neighborhood was so creepy. This one looked a little less scary. Mistake. One of the two rooms we rented smelled like smoke. The whole hotel is supposed to be smoke-free, but many of the patrons smoke. The cigarette disposal receptacles are all under the eaves, around the stairways, etc. so even if they are not smoking in the rooms you will smell it and walk through it. One of the beds had sheets with red stains on it. We're not sure if it was blood or lipstick. Another red stain was on the wall beside the bed, and another stain of other color. The bathroom floor was water damaged in both rooms. The fake wood strips had soaked up water, wrinkled, and detached from one another. There were items on the floor including a sock, bottle cap, dental floss, and cardboard trash. The walkways outside the rooms had broken glass, nails, screws and other hardware and trash all over. The trash from a recent renovation (chairs, cabinets, mirrors) were piled in heaps all around the building and on the walkways. Late at night you check in at a security window (the day check-in lobby is closed). The young girl who checked me in took a very long time to do so, although I was the only customer. She disappeared for long periods of time with my credit card and drivers license even though I had paid already (gave my cc# over the phone 15 min prior). The next morning there was again only one person there. Like the girl from the previous night, this girl appeared to be about 18 years old. There was no indication that the hotel was actually managed. Most of the patrons seemed legit but others loitered about in suspicious manner. In the morning I discovered a radiant heater bar across the front wall pumping out full heat. I then found a thermostat on the wall, but the dial spun around and you couldn't tell if it was on or off. That's why it was so hot in the morning despite the air conditioning being on. To sum up, this was the worst hotel by far during our 9-day trip across the country. We stayed in other Red Roof Inns which were quite good, but this one was not even close to standard. Having said that, the good points are: Pet policy (free). Can maneuver a truck with trailer (drive all the way around). Mattress was comfortable. Not too much noise at night despite being near the highway.
