Our family enjoyed a weekend getaway at the Hilton Shirt Pump, which is not far from Richmond. The hotel was nice and in good shape overall and our room was very clean. Pandemic safety was still being followed (thankfully!) and we felt comfortable and safe during our stay.
We needed an overnight place to sleep during our long car journey from the south (I-95) and wanted a high-quality hotel for that. As Hilton Honors members, we chose this hotel. It is excellent with very comfortable rooms. Spotless. One of the very nice things is that this hotel is located next to the huge, upscale Short Pump shopping center with numerous quality dining choices and many stores, should you wish to shop. Most of the restaurants are within walking distance or a 5 minute car ride. This hotel could not have been better for our needs. We would stay there again.
I've stayed at this Hilton several times since 2015 as an overnight stop on our way to Florida. We always stay on the Executive Floor. The perks of Executive are worth it for an overnight. The hotel is generally lovely and the staff are accommodating. The main reason I'm giving it 3 stars is the dang showers. Ever since 2015 the floor in the showers are a disaster. I think it's hard water staining, but honestly, it looks attrocious. You can never tell if the room has been properly cleaned or not. I would've have thought this is something they would have fixed over the years, but I stayed there in 2020 and nope, still a disaster! The room was also looking a little ragged the last time we stayed last year. It's time for a soft upgrade for sure, but generally it's still a good spot to stopover. …
Our stay did not start well. Pulling into the driveway there is an event entrance and what appears to be a spa entrance. After circling the property it became apparent that the spa entrance was also the main hotel entrance, although there were no signs indicating that. Approaching the front desk, we were informed there was no luggage assistance, no room service, no restaurant service except in the morning, and the embedded Starbucks was not open on Sunday through Tuesday. (We were checking in Sunday afternoon.) The hotel is badly worn, suffering from obviously deferred maintenance. Carpets, elevators, furniture, and some walls and ceilings are badly in need of refurbishment. The dreadful red patterned carpet that was merely garish when the hotel opened and is in the hallways, is currently soiled and faded. The furniture in our executive suite, never nice to begin with, was shabby and forlorn looking. The executive floor lounge was closed with all signs removed. In a very bad sign, the awful packet coffe in the room was no worse than the complimentary morning coffee in the lobby. The only creamer available for either was one of those chemical glop products. I could barely give this facility two stars. Five stars would be absurd. A Super 8 affiliation would be more appropriate, and the prices should match. What we paid for the suite was a very bad value. Having been at the hotel opening, it was sad to see the state it was in, and how far the property had declined.…
After months of letting this simmer, it feels like a personal obligation to complete this Hilton review. This is one of the three worst properties I personally have stayed in out of thousands. I kicked myself for months for not checking out of this hotel after the terrible experience in the first room, and certainly for not leaving by the first morning of a two night stay. We had reserved a room on the executive level although the Executive Lounge was closed in September of 2021 because of Covid concerns. The first room we checked into had ants crawling on the heavily stained carpet near the upholstered sitting chair. We called to change rooms and were shortly accommodated by transfer to another executive floor room. This second room had water damage in the ceiling, stuffing coming out of the headboard, mismatched lampshades, a ripped lampshade, and filthy carpeting. But no ants. We were informed that there were no other executive level rooms available, and because we were hurried to make our dinner reservation, we accepted this deplorable room. We should have exited the next day but had a full itinerary. Check-out after two nights was remarkable for the desk clerk asleep in a side room, snarling that we did not need anything from him to leave. This property was researched extensively. What a lasting, horrifying experience that marred our vacation to Richmond (an oxymoron?) Any favorable review of this hotel does not realize the deplorable conditions lurking within the walls, ceiling, and some of the rooms.…
Excellent stay, from the friendly front desk and restaurant staff to the clean and quiet room, perfect room temperature, and comfortable bed. The breakfast was delicious as well! Highly recommend this hotel as a stop over when traveling from NY/NJ area to Florida. You will get a great night sleep!
This is a typical suburban Hilton in a good location near a lot of shopping and places to eat. It is a good place to stay for a business trip, especially as the onsite restaurant (shulas) is pretty good which is a nice luxury to have after a long day if you don't feel like going far to eat. Try the pork belly appetizer - it is amazing!. There is also a decent gym and pool. Rooms are big, and have everything you need for a comfortable stay.
I stay at this hotel at least once a year for business. Staff is always very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast at Shula's Steakhouse is great and reasonably priced. Conference rooms are always climate controlled. Catering staff are very helpful and the food is great.
I have stayed at this property numerous times in the last few years and it is my "go to" in the Richmond area. Many of the reasons that I like the property remain. It's in a great location, has nice facilities, rooms are comfortable, and meeting services are very good. I struggled with this review because this should be a 4 or 5 star property; however, they need to get their service levels back up. The Executive Lounge still isn't open....it's passed time. There are no social distancing rules anywhere else in the hotel so this shouldn't be a problem. There is a breakfast in the restaurant and Hhonors guests are provided a credit but it's not as nice. The service was slow. On the second morning, they brought my breakfast in a bag even though I had sat down and ordered. My biggest issue is housekeeping. Most Hilton properties have used a service on request model since the start of the pandemic. While I think it's time to end this, I made the request when I checked in. I was informed that they do not provide housekeeping service unless the stay is at least 4 nights. They agreed to replace towels and empty trash and I requested that be done daily. After the first night, it wasn't done and I had to request again. It wasn't done after the second night either. Daily service is part of being a full service hotel....this needs to be corrected. I hope that I can provide a higher rating in the future.…
We have stayed here numerous times and travel with our two dogs. Perfect for our needs of a higher end stay yet pet friendly. Great restaurant in the hotel but numerous great restaurants within a mile. Next to fantastic shopping at Short Pump also!
