The staff, the bellman, the valet and check has the nicest personable staff you will meet! so close to all the sights. We took a historic canal walk which was great! Near great places to eat. Very clean and staff is very responsive.

The staff was exceptionally kind and helpful. Chris from the valet stand was especially eager to assist in any way. Unfortunately the hotel was still operating under some covid restrictions - no food service, no housekeeping. All in all, a nice stay in a great location.

Reynolds F....Thank You from the entire staff at the Berkeley. We do apologize for the housekeeping being limited to checkouts only, but do have plans in the near future to return to stayover service of 5 days or more. With the restaurant being closed prior to COVID, it will take alot to get it up and running again, needing a remodel to replace equipment after almost 3 years of non-use.

I enjoyed my stay at The Berkeley -- the staff were probably the nicest and most helpful staff I've ever encountered, and I've traveled the globe, and the room was perfect (comfy bed, quiet, roomy, cozy, big bathroom, solid water pressure) -- but the hotel sits on an old, cobblestone street in Richmond's historic district. If you're cool with your car on streets like that, then have at it -- you'll love the place. But I cringed whenever I left the hotel and drove down E. Cary (1-way). You can, of course, ask to have your car brought from the garage and placed on 12th St, right around the corner, which I did after Day 1.

Andrew, Thank You for the kind words about the staff and Hotel in general. Unfortunately, we can not control the type of street, as the Shockoe Slip preservation group worked with the City to replace and retain the historical aspect of the area. We are glad that your stay was very pleasant and look forward to a repeat visit from you in the future.

Great location and friendly service. Hotel in charming location of old Richmond, with the the historical capitol complex nearby. Apparently good eating places nearby, though our short stay did not permit us to try any. Hotel needs renovation soon.

Great location and very clean room. The balcony was great although it was a bit weird we shared it with another room. Not much sparkle or extra stuff to distract you from the wonder city of Richmond. Would stay here again!

jhuerk802932...We are glad that that your stay was more than pleasant. Yes, some of the terrace rooms do share their balcony with another room, while others don't. But we are lucky to be the only hotel that has balconies in Richmond.

I think this hotel was once nice, but it's not anymore. I do not recommend it, the advertising says that it is a luxury hotel but it is not, there is no value for money. If this hotel had been significantly cheaper ($264/night), it might have been fine, but for a hotel that advertises on its website and on Booking as "exclusive" and "luxury", it was a disappointment. Outdated, Rooms are old, no fridge or microwave, coffee maker didn't work, bad smells in hallways, and virtually no customer service. The front desk staff was friendly and courteous, but one of the valet parking staff with his behavior was not. I do not recommend it and less when traveling with children.

gvaldu921304....Thank you for taking time to notify us of our shortcomings. The property was scheduled for a renovation in June of 2021, but has peen postponed. As far as microwaves and fridge, we have them available on a limited basis, and upon request. We do hope that you did contact the front desk concerning your coffee maker, as well as the smells you encountered. Once again we thank you for taking time to complete the survey.

Great location to explore the city, walkable to so much. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room nice but, like the property, a tad dated. Beds were very uncomfortable. Enjoyed our stay but would not book again unless they get new beds.

ccacci725418...Thank You for taking the time to complete the Guest Satisfaction Survey. We are glad to hear that almost everything was to your liking, and are in the process of getting bids to begin our postponed renovation, which will include new beds. Please keep us in mind for your next trip to Richmond, and check to see that status of renovations.

Alarm went off at 6AM in two of our rooms. Beds are not queen beds, but tater double beds. No mini fridge in the rooms. Plugs are very hard to find - no place to charge cell phones on the nightstands. Location is perfect, but rooms are expensive. There are less expensive hotels with better amenities, and regular size beds one block down the street.

davetravel86453....Thank You for completing the survey. Im sorry, and not understanding about the 6am alarms. The hotels websites mentions 2 types of beds, Doubles and Kings, mini fridges are available upon request, as we dont have enough for the entire property. We are in the process of soliciting bids to remodel the Hotel, as the original renovation was postponed in 2020.

The hotel is well situated in proximity for the VCU graduation which we attended. There are restaurants close by but not in the hotel. Furnishings are dated but adequate. The towels and linens were of good quality. There is a sense of class to the building and our room was very large. The front desk was nice and upbeat. Some street noise.but not enough to disrupt our time or sleep.we would stay there again.

aria49, First let me say Congratulations to someone meaningful to you as you attended commencement at VCU. Also, we are glad that you found the Berkeley of Old World charm. There are some amenities, that we have lost for one reason or another, but are in the process of trying to return some of the most popular ones in some form. We hope that if this was your first stay with us, that it will not be your last!
