The room was elegant and clean. The location is excellent. There was no coffee in the lobby. There was no restaurant in the hotel at the time of our visit, although there appears to have been a bar/restaurant in the past. Valet parking was hideously expensive, but street parking was not difficult over Labor Day Weekend. Internet was free.

piattj.....We are glad that you mostly enjoyed your visit with us over Labor Day weekend. Coffee has been transferred to individual guest rooms, and you are correct our restaurant/ bar did exist until early 2020 as it was closed in anticipation of a property remodel that was postponed, but is not scheduled for early 2023! Valet parking at the Berkeley, $25/ night with unlimited in and out privileges, is ironically lower than that of the Omni, or the Courtyard at $32, $35/ night respectively.

The hotel has yet to reopen restaurant / lounge inside the hotel. While most other local hotels are back to "normal" , the Berkeley is not . When booking, the hotel lists these as being open for their customers. For this reason I can not recommend the hotel at this time. This created a huge inconvenience for our stay. We were looking forward to enjoying this historic hotel, but were very dissappointed.

steve121052......Thank You for taking time to let us know what was not up to standards during your most recent stay with us. We have been attempting to catch all of the websites and ensure that the property amenities are correct. We do ask that you give us another try, as we have just been purchased and have new owners. The new owners are determined to get at least the bar reopened in the near future. The property is scheduled for a total makeover starting in early 2023. Please stay tuned for more details.

The hotel let us bring our bicycles into the room as we rode from Jamestown to Richmond via the Va Capital Trail (then were heading back the next day). This hotel was convenient to the trail, restaurants and shopping. A great experience.

very comfortable in every respect, love the wood paneling in the lobby and the "traditional," distinctive, and warm decor and feel of this hotel - not like so many other "modern" facilities which all look the same.

This is a great boutique hotel. The location is amazing if you like a nightlife. Plenty of places to try and not far from anywhere in the city. If you are an early morning breakfast person (especially on a Sunday) your options are VERY limited. Truth be told, most Richmond places don’t open until 9. The hotel is clean and charming. However, the furniture I starting to show it’s age and the pillows are almost worn out. I like a cooler room when I sleep and the thermostat is set for no lower than 68. I really didn’t sleep well either night. The staff is amazing and attentive. It is located within a 15 min walk of the train station. They offer valet parking or there is a parking deck behind the restaurant across the street. I just took the train an then used rideshare. I never waited long and it saved me from trying to find parking in the city.

If you are planning a trip to Richmond, especially, if it's to be in downtown Richmond I highly recommend The Berkeley. There is plenty to do nearby, it is close to the highway system and getting around is easy, and, there are plenty of great restaurants within walking distance. The Berkeley is one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in and would definitely stay there again if I am ever in Richmond.

The hotel is centrally located in the middle of everything. Several restaurants and bars within a stones throw and minutes driving to anything in central Richmond. Our air condition did not work the first night, and although that was brutal, we were upgraded second night to room with a terrace and great views. The staff was terrific! They had constant smiles and were always ready to help! Thanks Raeyvn and Starlett at front desk! Justin and Damien did a tremedous job as valets and bellhops! My one complaint would be there is no housekeeping. I know everyplace is short staffed but it would be nice to be able to request it. That is part of the reason people vacation-to come back to a room after a long day of seeing the sights to a made bed, clean garbage cans and fresh towels. Despite that, i would highly recommend the Berk! Classy place with a classy staff! Tips-try the Hotel Greene for a unique round of miniature golf - City Dogs for an affordable and creative spin on the classic American Weiner - Maymont for a look back at the lifestyles of the rich and famous - and the Answer Brewpub for the best beer and pub grub in Richmond!

jmaran619926...Thank You for the kind words to everyone you came in contact with during your most recent stay here at The Berkeley!! Although we have not returned to stayover service, with housekeeping, you are able to contact the Front Desk, and request more towels, sheets, etc. We do ask that if anything needing changed out, that it be paced outside of your room by 8am so that housekeeping can pick it up.

JayFKDC....Small intimate Hotel is what we are, with only 55 rooms, we try and give our Guests a more personalized experience during their stay. With you being less than 2 hours away, a drive to Richmond would be able to support a night away with another stay at your newfound quiet Hotel, The Berkeley.
