It is sad to see how COVID is used to shut down service "for health and safety reasons" and at the same time crank up the price. Traveling with a dog, we were charged $50 pet fee and at the same time given an old room, bringing our total up to $375 for an old, tired smelly room with the most horrible mattress on not even queen size beds, but double beds. The restaurant and food service in the hotel is suspended due to COVID, while every restaurant in the neighborhood is busy and no reservation to be had before 8pm that evening. Again, the pandemic is used to eliminate service. One gets the impression great service means: "let me show you how you can do everything yourself while we do nothing." Go, get your food somewhere in town, make your coffee yourself on a Keurig in your room. If we really have to, we sell you one of those pre-packaged, old and solid as a stone muffins from a basket behind the front desk. But wait, nobody was to be seen at 6:30 in the morning. I walked by four times between 6:30 and 7:45 without any interaction or greeting by any member of the staff. Simply, because none was there.

The hotel was fine. Room was less clean than I expected but was not bad. Stayed overnight as a halfway point in our road trip. The price was comparable to others when we booked. There is street parking for free if you are able to find a spot overnight and move or head out early in the morning, that was good as we were able to avoid valet costs. Did not meet the expectation of a 4 star hotel, but was fine.

At the Berkeley they take the hotel business seriously and their attention to detail is very much appreciated. My room was clean and the furniture was lovely and added to the atmosphere of the Vintage Hotel vibe. Even though it's right downtown at feels like a cozy Corner of the city that steps back in time. This is not a cookie-cutter hotel and I appreciate the Berkley's attention to detail. I received a thank-you letter from the manager on my last day . This hotel has good management and good staff . When I returned to Richmond this is where I will stay again.

Enjoyed staying here. Helpful staff. In a section of town that meant you could walk to some fun places and restaurants. The room was comfortable and quiet, even though it faced the street. I also appreciated that the curtains really kept the light out -

Booked two rooms for a one night stay on Friday night. The reception and check in was very friendly and welcoming . Our rooms were clean and comfortable, although one of the rooms had no soap in the bathroom and the bottle of “ mouthwash “ tasted rancid. All in all, this is a charming boutique hotel, and preferable to modern chain hotels.
