Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
The Westin Richmond presents a dichotomy of experiences, where the cleanliness generally meets expectations with well-kept rooms, though there are occasional lapses noted by guests. The staff's politeness is often commended, despite some reports of sluggish service and maintenance hiccups. While the beds offer comfort, opinions on value tilt towards dissatisfaction, with guests feeling the offerings don't match Westin standards. Amenities receive mixed reviews, with some areas like the lounge falling short. The atmosphere and rooms, often deemed outdated, offer a mix of lively entertainment and comfort alongside a need for renovation.

No hot water in room. Things happen but response of management was underwhelming. Called “service center” (which was front desk). Front desk said “calling engineering” and hung up. 5 minutes later, technician was at door. Couldn’t fix, and left. Heard nothing from anyone for half hour. Called front desk and asked what they were going to do for me. Essentially, no plan from them. I asked to comp the room. Clerk immediately argued that I was “already on a discount rate” and offered some Bonvoy points or small discount on room. I guess senior rate doesn’t guarantee hot water. Settled for some points (double what was offered). After we went to breakfast in club room (actually, very nice and attendant was super), prepared to leave and front desk manager called to offer another room to shower. We declined as we wanted to get on the road. He then told me the points would take 5-10 days to be awarded. He was the only person to actually apologize for the incident. Housekeeping a bit slipshod as mold in the shower. Positives: was able to get in room early. Breakfast was great, beds were comfortable.

We had a great time at the Westin, and so did our pups and kids. Dinner was great and the staff friendly and helpful. Beds were comfortable!! I’d stay again!! The pool was lots of fun for the kiddos. Breakfast was included and tasty with a huge variety. Again, the breakfast staff were also friendly and helpful!

As a Marriott Ambassador Elite, I've been around many properties .... from the lowly Fairfield's to the more lofty at the other end of the scale. Westin's have a wide range of quality, unfortunately, and you never really know what you are getting, until you arrive. Some are really nice, some are average .... and quite literally, some are dumps. This one is a dump. Number one, they don't recognize Ambassador status and have no interest in upgrading anybody with status. Maybe it depends on your luck with the front desk person, but they are supposed to have a rooms controller whom is supposed to recognize status bearing individuals before they arrive. Here, it is likely a moron occupies that title at the property. The rooms are, indeed, screaming for a makeover, and you will likely find the antique furniture banged up and scratchy and the carpeting will likely have stains that are permanently etched in. The lounge chair in the room was downright nasty looking, and whatever fabric covering it had was all worn away from many years of use. The bathroom sink had a non functioning stopper and the sink would keep filling up and very slowly draining. The shower must have had a restrictor, as the flow and pressure were very low. The two top floors were out of service, and hopefully they are finally beginning a long overdue renovation. They do have a lively bar / lounge in the main floor and they also have an excuse for a restaurant which wouldn't be so bad if they only had a remote semblance of service. I guess you need competent management to accomplish that, though. If you are going to stay here at this dump, make sure you are getting a low rate of $120 / night or something to that effect. The property is no better than a Residence Inn or a Hampton Inn, so try to negotiate that type of rate. 3 stars at best. Stay elsewhere, and safe and happy travels !

An average business hotel. Nothing remarkable. Clean. Reasonably modern. Satisfactory. But ordinary. My main complaint was service at breakfast. In an almost empty restaurant (only one other table with people) it took 45 minutes to have breakfast brought to our table. And while it was decent food, the breakfast potatoes were supposed to include peppers and did not. But that is a small issue compared to the excessive time required.

We stayed two nights. On arrival the room was ok but the safe did not work...we phoned down to complain and ask for it to be fixed. Nobody came. Next morning we went out at 9 am and did not return until 6.30 pm only to find our room had not been serviced at all! The safe had not been fixed and the house phone no longer worked. We complained at reception and we're told that the hotel only services rooms every other day unless requested! What kind of four star hotel is this? They sent someone up to service the room whilst we went to dinner. What a total disgrace to the name of Westin hotels. As far as I am concerned this place should lose it's four star rating...2 star is more it's level. Avoid it is my advice

Always a great and comfortable stay at the Westin. It is our go to hotel in Richmond. Staff is always helpful and accommodating. When we needed to make a change in our room based on our personal preference, Abdullah at the front desk was helpful and willingly changed our room.

I give it a two because of the condition of the room furniture and bath. The common areas are fine and pleasant and the restaurant is good enough for a quick meal. The room is another story. The dark furniture (desk, nightables) was banged up at every corner. The chair was stained with an unknown substance…either food or bodily fluid. The bathroom was not up to standard with peeling wallpaper and stains. When I pointed out my disappointment at departure, the front desk was apologetic and promised me Marriott points. We shall see but overall a let down from previous stays.

I had an issue that required sensitivity and Sherita was extremely understanding, helpful, and made me feel heard. Additionally, the beds are very comfortable. The lobby is very pretty and inviting, as well.

Got to hotel 1 hour after check-in. Waited another 50 mins because the room wasn’t ready. Dirty dishes outside my door once I got to the room. Generally pretty dirty in the bathroom. Mold/mildew and hair in the shower. No hot water during my showers.

I love this hotel. While it is starting to get dated and needs some updating (especially bathrooms and room seating), the beds are the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in. The service in this hotel is also top notch. They are extremely responsive to any needs and requests and are focused on providing good customer service. My only complaint is that there are only two elevators and very often only one of the two is working. It's a minor inconvenience, but has been a frequent occurrence.
