We spent a wonderful week 3-10 of May in 2022. The hotel is lovely and cozy. The team ( at the reception, restaurant and pool) are very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Utterly clean!!! Everywhere! If you like cocktails, barman Nevio is your man. He is a magician! Fantastico! A free shuttle bus service to the centre of the town, the port and beach runs like a clock every hour from morning till late evening even if you the only passenger The food. I would like to see more fresh fruits and vegetables on the table. Fast free internet in all of the hotel areas. I would recommend to go on the cruise to see the most iconic beaches and coastline. The hotel has got 2 boats and organise it very nicely. Enjoyed it. Lot. Definitely will come back.
Our bed was comfortable, there is a beautiful view from the pool, but more importantly - the staff was friendly, warm and super helpful! We really enjoyed our stay and that was mainly because of their excellent service! We loved the town of Cala Gonone so so much as well. Highly recommend staying here :) The shuttle didn't run often, but that could have been due to it being the end of season. The breakfast was ok.
Stayed one night and I have only positive things to say about the hotel. Very friendly and helpful personnel both at the reception and in the Bar/restaurant. The hotel has a full size pool. The only negative comment is that the hotel is a bit faraway from the beach and restaurants - however there is shuttle buss service available. Ladies at the front desk were very helpful when recommending restaurants and making reservations. Thank you.
Almost 2 hrs from Olbia airport via mountain roads and hairpin bends. Situated at the top of the hill from Cala Gonone but there is a courtesy bus available to take you down and fetch you back. The dining was little unusual in that we chose either starter and main or main and dessert. The first night we arrived, we were offered antipasto, starter, main and dessert so we expected this every night. The food was good but portions were not large and unlike all inclusive was served plated as if in a outside restaurant. The Sardinian night was unusual as we had four men singing acapella most of the night, not our thing at all. Most of the guests were older than us and most were German. Most of the waiters assumed that you were German. All the staff were very friendly and as soon as they knew we were English they remembered for the next time. The boat trip that you can book from the hotel was well worth doing as most of the beaches are only accessible by boat. Beaches in this area are small pebbles so they do hurt your feet, would recommend some beach shoes. As it was quiet by the pool it was empty most days so very relaxing. Nice small hotel that we like and would return.…
Dear Mario, Marco, Giuseppe and Restaurant Team! Big hi from little Michelle & Family 😊 Thanks for our absolutely fantastic holiday in Cala Gonone! We have enjoyed every minute in your hotel wrapped by love and hospitality. We have stayed as family of 3 ( 2 adults + 7 y.o daughter) for period 27 May-4 June 2019 in superior room on the top floor. Very clean, air conditioned, decent size for Italy, pool view. I have hired the car ( recommend everyone to do so) and explored Sardinia on wheels. We have been amazed how beautiful the country is! I would advise everyone to hire the boat and travel across the caves and Sardinian beached. The beaches in Cala Gonone and Orosei are ones of the most beautiful on Sardinia ( we have been in Porto Cervo’s popular beaches and absolutely positive that Orosei’s ones are better). In short about hotel: 1) Location: quite ( despite the road nearby) with absolutely stunning sea view. I believe Mario and family were very lucky to such a fantastic spot and create the illusion of infinitive pool. Enough parking. I tis not in the town centre, but just 15 min walk, or Mario & Team will organise you free shuttle transfer. We liked to walk every day in the town via ice cream and coffee places. 2) Bar: Marco is the star and soul of Brankamaria! Fantastic Milkshakes for our Michelle (see photo attached), nice selection of cocktails for me and over alco/non-alco beverages. So treats and freebees all the time as compliments from the hotel! Thanks again Marco. 3) Restaurant: very high standards of hygiene, good wine selection, flexibility of menu and readiness of Peppe to satisfy any customer’s needs. There were lots of different feedbacks about restaurant food. I would like to state my very clear, but still personal opinion: it is traditional Sardinian restaurant with traditional Sardinian cuisine, preferably from locally sourced products. Very high quality! Yes, sometimes it looks like odd combination for UK guests and may doesn’t satisfy what you have expected. Please be just honest with you: if you used to pub food/fish and chips/burgers/ready meals from supermarket/McDonalds (select the most appropriate for you) – yes, the restaurant food from menu will rather disappoint you. But there is always option: speak with Peppe ( who will ask about your preferences for evening meal) privately and said that you want exactly ( burger, chips, etc.) and the menu items are not suitable for you, and they will do meal especially for you ( sometimes for free, sometimes for small charge). For example, we have ordered the soups and had them even on the day even when no soup on day menu. My husband swapped garnish every day for chips – no problem. So, if your are utterly unhappy with what is offered – JUST SAY it to Peppe, and they will do your best to make you happy. PS but please, be reasonable. If you want very good pizza and pasta, visit Zio Pedrillo (via vasco de Gama 2, Cala Gonone). They have got great selection of wines and delivering to Brankamaria as well, if you don’t wish to walk. Breakfast: plenty of selection, it is classic continental breakfast ( no fried eggs or omelettes). 4) Pool: very clean ( it is cleaned every day with special robot), with great view. It has been end of May 19, and it was very cold spring on Sardinia that year. Anyway, we have been swimming in pool and enjoyed it. Marco will deliver your drinks to the pool 😊 Very comfy lounges. 5) General maintenance: very clean, good social area indoor, great terrace to seat and enjoy meal/drink. Overall experience: 5 star😊 we really enjoyed and looking forward to come back soon! Mario and Family, we really wish your business to flourish and make every customer happy in your magic place. All the best from Michelle, Anna and Anton…
We spent two weeks there and can not fault it. Would stay there again if in that area. Spotlessly clean everywhere and all the staff had a smile on their faces. It would be nice is the staff could wear name tags so you could refer to their names. We were located on the third floor at the front of the building and had wonderful ocean views. In view of some other comments we were concerned the noise might disturb us but we didn’t have that problem. For the beaches if you have soft feet we would really recommend you have waterproof shoes you can swim in as the beaches are very pebbly. An hours drive from the hotel towards Olbia we found a lovely sandy beach with lounge beds and food available. Head to Olbia until you see the sign S. Teodoro (SAN Teodoro then follow this sign. The beach is called Brandinchi. We went on the boat trip organised from the hotel as they have their own boat. Thoroughly enjoyed the day out and highly recommend it but don’t forget your rubber shoes as you go to three beaches which are pebbly. There is also a stop so you can swim off the back of the boat in crystal clear water. Would recommend hiring a car from the airport so you can get out and about.…
We spent a lovely week in this hotel. The staff on reception, in the bar/cafe, and restaurant were hard working, helpful and friendly., happy to share the odd laugh which is a tonic on holiday. The room was very comfortable and we overlooked the hills behind the hotel. There is a Smart TV on the wall, and it was set up in English for us, and we were able to view the BBC news on the world wide web. The satellite TV only had a few news channels in English, and one was BBC World which is unremarkable in every way. Still we were not on holiday to watch TV, The bathroom was tiled in blue and the shower and other facilities were good. The shower gel, and hair shampoo supplied was useful, but nothing special. The cost of drinks in the fridge were the same as in the bar there, and in the restaurant which is unusual in a hotel. There is a safe there, but I did not use is, I have a habit of forgetting the password ! There is adequate space for a laptop, or to write on. It would have been nice to have had two seats in the room, as one of us had to sit on the bed if the other was using the table and chair provided. Overall a comfortable room. The air conditioning is extremely effective, and is not cut off when you remove the card that opens the room and fits in the bracket on the wall, which turns on the power. Unfortunately there is no coffee or tea making facility in the classic room. Take a travel kettle with you if you wish to have beverages in the room. We can recommend the Milk Shakes that the cafe make, they are delicious and refreshing as well. We booked the hotel transfer, from the airport and Mario was the perfect host, picking us up and then bringing us back to the airport to catch the plane home. He even gave us a soft drink and espresso, from the bar, as we waited for the hotel transfer vehicle to return from town. The hotel shuttle service is excellent. It is necessary because it is a long walk from the hotel down to the beach, and town. The trip back is uphill all the way! The driver of this is very friendly. Breakfast was good, and there is plenty of variety in the food. The only cooked food seemed to be chipolatas chopped in quarters, and some type of egg omelette in squares. Fruit is sliced, or tinned. Plenty of Yogurts, cereals, cakes and other continental style items. The rolls and bread were very good as well. The evening meal was filling. The cuisine was not totally Pasta orientated. I enjoyed a lovely Sea Bream which was not filleted, but delicious. I had a variety of fish starters. The Beef dishes were also very good as well. Overall great meals, value for money, but not Cordon Bleu standard. The head waiter hands out menus with options for three courses, if you are on half board. You have to tick your requirements at breakfast for the kitchen to cook in the evening, We had excellent service for the first two days, then even when we turned up almost first in the restaurant we had to sit for as long as 30 minutes before getting out first course. By this time I had drunk the drink I had ordered. We had to ask waiters when our food was coming on more than one occasion, which spoils the overall ambiance for us. There is room for improvement on the way they serve customers, after all they have already got information on what each person wants? The Sardinian buffet was not to our liking, the first course was fine, like a salad, but the second course was pasta with some from of potato inside it with a bland sauce on top, We had to wait a long time for the second course and we did not enjoy the food, so left the restaurant before the third course and dessert. The singers booked for this evening did not look at the audience but formed a circle and put their arms over their shoulders, facing inward. This was probably traditional, but sorry we didn't like the Sardinian Buffet, it was not to the same standard as the rest of the meals during the week. The pool is fantastic, and large. A little cool, not heated, but a great place to relax around and also swim in. The pool side bar was opened most days, when the high winds were not blowing. The bar has drinks and ice creams to hand. When the wind was blowing the bar/cafe indoors brought orders out to people. There are two large flights of stairs to get up to the pool, and no facility for youngsters to swim, the pool is the same depth all over. A slope which leads up to the pool at the side of the steps, so use that if you find steps too much. There is a superb view of the coast and the hills behind when you are in the pool area. You can also get swim towels for 2 euro each, from reception. We had a jolly good time at Cala Gonone, and the hotel. We thoroughly recommend a stay there. The average mark below for serving relates the the evening meal only, and not to the rest of the staff and facilities in the hotel during breakfast and the day.. The staff work so very hard in the restaurant, but the management need to address the fact that people wait too long for meals at times. This will make things better for guests and staff.…
The hotel is excellent, the staff are superb so friendly and welcoming. Sofia and Valentina in reception and Marco in the bar stood out. Rooms also excellent, good size, front rooms with panoramic views of resort. Pool is enormous and also extremely good, parking a bit of a problem if there are a lot of guests. There is a space outside the hotel confines, that was safe for the few says we used it. Someway from the sea, but excellent transit bus that will also lend you parasols and seats for the beach. First come first served. The Dining Room/restaurant, this is where it lost the 5th star expecting lots of fish and sea food I was disappointed, the staff were still brilliant but the food was dull and uninspiring.
One week stay at this fabulous hotel. Cannot fault it. The hotel is positioned on the side of the mountain and has fabulous views over the bay. It is about a ten minute walk down the hill to the town and beautiful beaches but if you don’t fancy the walk the hotel runs a shuttle service every hour to and from. Our room overlooked the pool and mountains, a great view to wake up to every morning. The room and hotel was spotlessly clean. 5 stars for cleanliness. Beds are really comfy and the rooms have everything you need. We stayed on a half board basis and we cannot fault the food at all. Breakfast is on a buffet basis and there was all the choice you needed. Evening meals are individually chosen and we can’t fault the presentation, quality or variety. The restaurant obviously has a great manager. All in all the hotel was fabulous. The staff are really friendly and always happy and helpful. Thank you all for a lovely stay!!!…
This was our second visit to this wonderful island and to the hotel Brancamaria. The last time we visited the island and the hotel was some five years ago, the rooms in the hotel have been upgraded to include WiFi and wall mounted televisions. The guests in the area and the hotel was mainly from Germany 🇩🇪, and their appetite for queuing is well know, so we were not offended by their behaviour. The hotel management and staff were very friendly, with a special thank you to Mario and Rafael who we had met previously. The food was average at best and did not complement the hotel, the hotel needs to focus on quality and not quantity. If you want a great place to stay to visit this wonderful island and the Cala Gonone area look no further.
