Saquan at the main desk is awesome and went above and beyond to make my stay great! I'd arrived at the hotel for a two week stay, i'd got a room that was pretty small and just was not ideal for a comfortable two week stay (not a common problem, most rooms are decent sized). I just had a brief conversation with Saquan about my concern in staying in that small room for such a long time, and he immediately set to work getting me a more comfortable room. The room he gave me was wonderful, great river views and all... but the real highlight was how quickly and professionally Saquan really worked to make sure that i was comfortable during a long stay. Thank you Saquan, you made my stay at the Sonesta great! Ill be back again!
My first night at this hotel was rough. I arrived, unpacked and settled in to get some work done. Then I discovered a leak in the bathroom ceiling. These thing happen, but it was really annoying because I had unpacked and was trying to work. Also, one of the reasons I had booked my stay in the hotel was because I had a leaky roof being repaired at home. I couldn't believe it when my hotel room had the same issue! I called the front desk. The staff immediately got me into a new room that was the same quality and had the same stunning view of the river. Of course, I had to pack up then move, unpack and settle into my new room so I lost some valuable time towards my work deadline. However, the hotel staff repeatedly checked on me and followed up during the rest of my stay. They made sure that I had what I needed, that I liked my new room, gave me the late check out that I requested, etc. The customer service was above and beyond - and would be at any time - but especially during a pandemic when everyone is tired and spread thin. The staff really did go out of their way to follow up with me and make sure that after that incident in my first room, the rest of my stay was as wonderful as possible. (They also sent someone to fix the issue in my first room as soon as I left it.) The river views are lovely. The rooms have everything you need. However, it is the staff that really sets this hotel apart from others. …
Saquan at the registration desk greeted me with a smile and was very helpful. He suggested restaurants and activities to do while I enjoyed my stay at this lovely hotel. He was thorough at explaining all amenities provided at the hotel. Thank you Saquan for your warm greeting and making me feel like an important guest.
I arrive late after a long day of travel, hoping to get a bite of food before bed. Unfortunately the hotel has no food service. Got to my room to find the temperature around 80 degrees and the AC barely functioning. Wall paper was peeling off the wall and overall the room was pretty gross. One of the two elevators was out of service which effectively meant I had to take five flights of stairs every time I left my room. Called to ask for my room to be made up when I was working during the day only to be informed that this hotel does not provide any housekeeping service.
Extremely rude front staff. Mark, the manager, really talked down at me when I asked for an updated room (they do have better rooms as I’ve stayed here before) and kept on pushing me to pay more for a different layout. Not only that, he then calls in the room and engaged in more rudeness when I reviewed his poor behavior. What?! Get some training! Will not stay again. Kimpton has much better attitude and is right across.
The Royal Sonesta is an older hotel located in Cambridge on the Charles River. We were greeted by Marta at the front desk who was professional and very helpful. Same for Larry who helps with luggage and calling cabs. We had a room on the ninth floor with wonderful river and Boston views. Negatives include expensive parking, no housekeeping and no complimentary coffee. There is a Starbucks in the hotel and a nice restaurant.
Just give me coffee! I get it ; no daily housekeeping. But just give me the coffee!!!!! The front desk can't give me coffee? nope Security had to deliver my coffee? ...well that makes sense...... just give the coffee when I request at the front desk,, duh.
Stay far, far away from this property. Atrocious experience, terrible staff. Room type from reservation not honored, staff unhelpful and unprofessional, clueless about services and repeatedly changing their statements. AT this stage when even the US government is not requiring COVID testing from international travelers, this property is saving money by insisting they will only do housekeeping every 4-5 days. If they are so concerned about safety, why is their onsite restaurant still open? Because it generates revenue, and housekeeping costs money. For nearly $800 for two nights, I do not expect this. Housekeeping requested and was told they ask management, did not even have the basic courtesy to get back to me with a response either way. The lotion bottle in my bathroom was used (eww, but also unsafe). The property is run down - lobby is decent and renovated, but the hallways remind me of motels in shady areas.…
The location of the hotel is excelent, but the rooms and the entire hotel seems to be very old. I think this hotel was property of another brand and Sonesta bought it, everything looks old. I rather chose another hotel for a next trip to Boston.
Mixed bag of feelings: upon arrival friendly check-in. Waterfront location is beautiful. The room could use some fresh paint left and right and the room was quite dark. Shower was very nice. Breakfast (sandwich, muffin, coffee) was all there is and on the go: no proper breakfast restaurant. Very limited opening times of bar/restaurant in general which I don’t get: made what could be pretty and lively seem fairly deadish. Room did not get cleaned during the 4 nights I stayed there: hiding behind Covid: unacceptable to me to get no fresh towels, no made up bed at these prices. Will be there again in 2 weeks buf if similar experience I will look for other locations going forward
