This is a lovely hotel with incredible views. My daughter and I spent 2 nights just to get out of the house. The pool is as nice as advertised and we had it mostly to ourselves. We took walks by the river and into Kendall and Central Squares. Delicious food is an easy pick-up or delivery, all ordered online. In the morning the hotel Starbucks, with the world's friendliest barista, started our day. It felt like we had traveled further and been away longer. Just the break we needed. I will recommend this spot for conferences, when my office is ready to resume 3D activities.
The most comfortable, clean, cheerful staff, Manuj the supervisor was a outstanding, loved or four week stay with the best river view of boats, trains, bikes in a superb location. We travel monthly and found this hotel beyond words nearly renovated lobby, restaurants and theatre within walking distance. Always felt at home. Dr and Mrs S from Israel
Ahhhhh, the Royal Sonesta (during Covid) was a wonderful, peaceful escape from the world. My daughter and I are avid world travellers, but since Covid/Pandemic, we've been 'getting away' through different hotels in Boston. The Royal Sonesta was a welcome and pleasant surprise, with a gorgeous view of Boston, and top notch sophistication. The rooms were impeccably clean (thank goodness, esp during these times) and the pool! Oh the POOL! Of the 5 hotels with pools we've been in Boston, the Pool at the Sonesta tops them all! Large enough for social distancing, and warm enough/shallow enough (at the entrance) for 3-year olds to walk in, my daughter and I had such a wonderful time in the pool. Then of course, as some mommies do, I forgot my daughter's bathing suit at the hotel, and they went out of their way immediately to find it (and they also found my jacket in the closet). Overall, there was some delay in getting extra bedding for my daughter (I think the staffing is limited due to covid), but otherwise, from start to finish the staff at the hotel were so kind, so friendly, so welcoming to both me and my daughter. And there's a Starbucks in the hotel! That was a great treat for this tired Mommy here. One of the best things about this hotel were the walls. Thick enough so one doesn't hear the other guests, and thick enough to mask any unwanted smells (i.e. cigarette/marijuana) from other rooms like some other hotels in Boston (i.e. Double Tree, The Colonnade). …
Yep, I'm posting photos of the views, not the inside of the hotel. Can't help it! The hotel was amazing. Staff very courteous and responded quickly to our requests. Traveling during Covid-19 meant no daily housekeeping, but any time we needed trash pick-up, extra towels, the fridge replaced (it wasn't working when we arrived) , the response was within 10 minutes. We're definitely going again.
We booked a room with views of a Charles River marina and the Museum of Science from an upper floor at a bargain price (probably covid-19 related) but that same pandemic whittled down availability of amenities such as room service and the hotel restaurant. These deficiencies were made manageable with food delivery services such as uber and the mall offerings right across the street. The pool access compensated for any feelings of deprivation in this new post pandemic redefinition of hospitality especially since pool access was the determining factor in our final choice of hotel. The pool room, located in a white and blue Greek tiled atrium with potted palms and other large leaved plants, was a serene haven after a long day of work or sightseeing. This delightful respite in the sky-lighted atrium had only one wrinkle and that was that some of the palms seemed to cry out for water and/or some tender loving care. All in all a very pleasant stay.…
