We were there as a group of 4 friends. Location is more than amazing. There are two little wooden houses, each one fully equipped, they have even BBQ outside the house! And big terrace with the perfect view on Mjóifjörður. The owner - nice lady living near the houses. The place is so remote that you can think of it almost as your own. I would like to come back there someday. You're just gonna need good car, SUV or something, because there is only gravel road - like 30km from ring road.

If you want to experience the Icelandic fjords and you love remoteness, Solbrekka is the place for you! Two cottages right in front of the fjord await you! The cottages are quite big and good value. There is a double bedroom, a sleeping-sofa for two persons and an open room upstairs with mattresses for two/three persons. There is also a kitchen, a dinning table with chairs and a small bathroom. We shared the cottage with our friends (we were 4 adults and 3 small kids in total) and we felt that it was spacious and comfortable. Duvets and pillows are supplied and there is a grill in the balcony. The owners were very kind and allowed us to leave after lunch in order to have time to enjoy the place (we arrived quite late the evening before). We have with small kids, so the animals (sheep and chicken) and the "village"'s playground were great! The scenery of the fjord is superb, specially in good weather! But don't expect action in this fjord, the "village" is just a few houses, so bring everything that you need. It takes between 45 minutes to one hour to drive from Egilsstadir, depending on the weather conditions. We felt that it was quite remote, and we loved it. The evening that we arrive it was really foggy and we couldn't see anything on the road, which was quite scary (we drove normal cars and not 4x4 and it was OK). However, the day we left the sun was shining and the view of the beautiful Mjóifjörður and its waterfalls will remain in our memory for a really, really long time...Definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Iceland!
