#1 of 3 hotels in Hvolsvollur
Travelers' Choice
UMI hotel is located by one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in the country; the hotel is only about 150 km away from Reykjavik and 2 km off the Ring road (Road NR. 1). Our location offers a strong connection to nature that allows our guests to experience the peace and quiet of the Icelandic countryside. The hotel offers a first class restaurant with a unique view of the Westman Islands and the southern coastline, as well as a lounge bar with a view of the famous sub-glacial volcano Eyjafjallajokull and the beautiful mountain terrain surrounding it. Next to our hotel the river Svadbaelisa peacefully flows by. The starlit skies and northern lights certainly won’t let anyone down over the winter months. The hotel is non-smoking and open all year round.

We absolutely love our stay with this beautiful hotel. It is a true gem in Iceland. The views are gorgeous, the cleanliness is immaculate. Most importantly, the service has been incredibly astounding. The decor is modern and minimalist in the rooms. I also kept myself busy in the comfortable and wonderfully decorated space outside of the room. My husband had some work to do and I had no problem sitting and enjoying the views on my leather chair. I’d like to note that the scents of the shampoo, lotion, etc were so pleasant and herbal and I’m a tough gal to please with toiletry scents. We also dined with the hotel and the food was top notch, flavorful, and thoughtful. We are from New York and I consider us a bit more critical of food (I swear, I’m not a NY elitist!). Special thanks to Jacob and the owner of this fine establishment. They were so attentive and showed us such incredible hospitality! We will return to Iceland just for this! I would rate this gem a 10 if I could!!! Love, Vivian and Jonathan
