Everything was nice and organized. Pretty much in the middle of nowhere but that is normal once you leave Reykjavik. Had beautiful, healthy horses that we rode. Mostly young people from Europe work here it seems. But very friendly and had wonderful food. Just gorgeous scenery all around. Rooms very nice and clean. No TV but fast internet. Meals were... I can only say everything was a complete success. Everything, from the accommodation ( the bed was soooo comfortable ), to the friendly staff, the horses, all so well schooled and have a lot of 'power', the food made by Gyoa ( sorry about the misspelling ).. My 5 day stay ( riding course ) was so well planned. I... More

My daughter and I joined a five-day tour to Landmannalaugar, and had the most fabulous experience. We were 12-15 people and more than thirty loose horses, and covered a vast and varied landscape, green fields and countryside, lava sand on the slopes of Hekla, rivers and hills. We rode tølt most of the way, and the horses are absolutely amazing.... More

We were a group of 3 people driving the ring road in Iceland during last week of July 2014. After a long day's driving and sightseeing, we reached the hotel at about 10:30 p.m. We presented the voucher for a two-bedroom cottage from our travel agent and were asked to wait in the common room and have tea or coffee.... We were a group of 11 people and did a week long riding trip on horseback, taking with us a herd of loose horses - what an amazing experience. Riding through rivers, at the beach, Tölt for hours - though being together with so many loose horses is an adventure, we always felt safe. Marteinn and Lea definitely know what... More

In spite of e-mail confirmations I was not expected. However that was not the biggest problem. The problem was my stay did not live up to description. The last day I only got lunch to eat, no dinner and had to ask for breakfast before leaving the following morning. Had I known I would have left early, feels like I... More

Last summer, my family circumnavigated Iceland over two weeks. Best trip ever. Our last night before departing, I booked two rooms through booking.com at Hestheimar. When we arrived in the evening, however, the host insisted we had only booked on of the rooms. In addition, there were no more rooms available, so my wife and I had to take a... More

We checked in very late to the guesthouse after a long day driving. The hosts were friendly and made check-in easy. It felt like arriving in paradise - totally quiet, with a hot pot all to ourselves overlooking the meadows, nothing but birds, horses, and one wandering cat. And the midnight sun. The beds were very comfy too and the... More

Definitely the best place at which we spent a night during our trip in Iceland! We were lucky enough to sleep in one of the new cottages which are awesome. They organize tours with their horses, but we unfortunately did not know this beforehand. The owners are lovely and the area is really beautiful. I definitely would recommend this place!

We stayed in one of the cottages and it was beautiful. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen well stocked. My only regret is we didn't stay for more nights. The horseback riding was one of the highlights of our trip. If you have kids, the pool in Heckla (nearby) is a great addition. Besides the requisite hot pot, they have... More
