We stayed here our first night we were in Iceland and then continued to drive down the Southern Coast. I would recommend staying here on your last night of being in Iceland because it's a great place to rewind and relax after a few days or week long adventure of hiking and sight seeing. The Blue Lagoon is one of the most relaxing places I have been and staying at the retreat made it that much better. The private pools made it easy to relax with no one else around and the Ritual (what they call their spa experience) was magical. I did all 3 face masks - the silica, volcanic exfoliator and algae - and also the salt and volcanic body exfoliators. My skin felt so rejuvenated! The staff was so friendly and very helpful in walking us through how to apply the treatments. The spa was like heaven! They also have a cold plunge, steam room and sauna and tons of skin care products for use. We got the in water massages where you float on a pool raft in the blue lagoon, they put a warm blanket on you, and face mask to shield your eyes from the sun and massage your body for an hour. Every 5 minutes they dip you in the water to re-warm your body and the blanket. I fell asleep it was so relaxing. You have direct access to the public area of the blue lagoon too. There are swim up bars and masks there as well. In the private lagoon at the retreat you can also swim up to a window and order cocktails. We had lunch at Lava restaurant on the property and the food was exquisite. We got a complimentary glass of champagne and had the most amazing lunch over looking the blue lagoon. The best part of all of this is that we got to go to lunch in our robes and slippers! We walked around the hotel in them the entire time. It was fabulous! Breakfast is complimentary and has a good mix of meats, fruit, fish and fresh squeezed juices. It was delicious! The staff was extremely helpful, knew a lot about Iceland and truly created a magical experience for us! I highly recommend staying at the Retreat for a relaxing experience.

One of the most beautiful and best run hotels I have visited anywhere. It was great way to end 10 day visit to Iceland and near the airport. The Spa is part of the hotel and allows easy access to a private crowd free area of Blue Lagoon. Spa stay open til 1 am so can be enjoyed after dinner. As Spa is busy would make reservation for massage directly with Spa well in advance. Massage not all that great but different as water massage. Moss restaurant serves 7 course creative and well done tasting dinner. Breakfast buffet in am can be enjoyed til 11am in your robe before or after a morning visit to Spa. This hotel is creative designed into Lava field and rooms are modern and well equipped. Hotel is expensive but well worth ending trip with a magical day.
