We used to live in Springfield, moved away about a year ago and had to come back recently for a work thing. We chose the Statehouse because it's close to my work and has free parking. That's where the positives stop. The bed was hard as a rock and came with these mini pillows that looked like they should be on the couch. We asked for more pillows and were given more of the same so we had to go buy some cheapies at Target. There was no soap in the bathroom or kitchenette - in the time of COVID, no soap?? They give you test tubes of shampoo which last for 2 days and our stay was for 6. Two set of extremely thin towels. And the BEST part of the stay - my wife and I each had a key and on 3 occasions (for each of us) we had to go back to the desk to have the keys replaced. By the looks of the parking lot we were one of the very few guests. I get it, if you're only 5% full you don't want to outfit every single room with all of the amenities, but when you saw my reservation you knew what room I would get and could have put 6 days worth of amenities in there instead of making me ask for it each day.

Not your cookie-cutter pre-fabricated motel stuck close to the interstate. Feels like 50s or 60s with a pretty recent remodel. Close to capitol and downtown, nice views from higher floors. Internet was more reliable than most.

This updated modern building has big guestrooms and plenty of free parking. For some, the room decor may seem spartan, but that's the appropriate aesthetic for the building. It was comfortable and a bit of a ghost town during the pandemic, so I can't comment about other amenities. Plenty of free parking!

Very friendly staff . property convenient to downtown, government buildings and Amtrak station .There was no housekeeping I will assume due to the Christmas holidays . Loft type of hotel . beds were extremely comfortable . parking was outdoor which during cold weather was not great but convenient to the front door .

This hotel was built in the 1950s with a look that was modernist at the time. But those times looking modern were long ago and now the area around the hotel is really downtrodden. It is convenient to the Capitol and various government buildings but most of the rest of what's around it are lacking. While the hotel looks decent because of renovations, it is held back by its 1950s style. The rooms themselves look very modern but, for example, the elevators are very dirty and beaten up. The bathrooms have been updated a while ago and still look ok. The WiFi worked fine and there's a small free parking lot connected to the hotel. If you really need to be close to the Capitol, this works great. But if you are staying a longer time or want finer accommodations, this isn't a great choice because of other better hotels. Because of the decay of all the other surrounding buildings, it means there is a quietness to the hotel that is either disconcerting for those who want more liveliness or welcomed by those who want quiet. It is an easy town to get around in and there's plenty of historic things to see that are only a few minutes away. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast options were limited because of the pandemic.
