Lovely cabins in beautiful environment. My family rented a couple of pods this summer, and we decided to stay an additional night because the kids loved staying there. We told them we'd stay in dwarf houses while we'd be on our adventure. When loading our stuff back into the car before checking out, my 4-year-old asked me when we could come back. I have a feeling we'll have more stopovers in the future. One of the best things is also that the place is very family friendly. There was no partying or anything like that. When you get up on the small hill next to the Troll waterfall there is a stunning view where you can see the landmark mountains Skessuhorn, Snæfellsjökull and Baula as you look across the horizon. The restaurant has some nice food and tasty burgers, made from local ingredients. Just remember to state your preference if you want the cooking time to be any thing less than well done.

In the middle of the nature, this pods are very comfortable and clean. With hot tubes, kitchen and a spectacular view on the falls, this is a place to try. There is a restaurant too, with a view on the falls.

Stayed here for 2 nights, £80...BARGAIN! This is like something out of a movie! The pods are lovely & warm. They are very cosy to escape the -12 temperature outside! The kitchens were well-equipped however got very busy from about 7pm onwards so I advise eating early! Same in the morning, either eat really early or really late! There is one kitchen in a hut that was always quiet but it didn’t appear to be heated so that’s probably why! The toilets/showers were a short walk from the pod but were clean. Hot tubs were a nice touch to watch the stars/northern lights if you’re lucky, however the deck gets a bit slippery! The staff we saw were friendly & welcoming, and they had already put our bed linen into our rooms (we had to make the beds but this is expected for a camping site). It is not too far to the closest town, about 20mins, where there is shops for food so you don’t have to eat in restaurants and spend too much money! It is in a good location to go to lots of sights. Recommend a 4x4 car as it can get very snowy in winter! Would definitely stay here again.

Didn’t even bother staying. We waited 20 minutes before someone came to check us in (we were greated rudely and talked down to) when we got checked in we were not told that the shower was locked and you could only have a shower in the evening?!? and that there is only 1 for 12 pods roughly. We got into our “heated” pod (which was freezing on arrival it was also -9° outside) we had to make our own bed which we paid ( 2 sets for 1 bed?) 2600isk for ripped bedding that looked like it had been eaten by moths or bugs. Went to the kitchen to make food and there was a mouldy chopping board, dirty knifes and forks. Not to mention the rusty pots and pans. The fridge was filled with 2 month out of date milk, cheese, mouldy vegetables plus opened meat which was not wrapped. The advert shows all good reviews but these do not compare when actually in the pods. It says it’s in a town but the nearest shops were almost 50 minutes away. The driveway in was dangerously covered in snow and ice (no salt or effort of a path to any of the pods and all paths to showers and toilets also covered by ice). Due to lack of care, cleanliness and attention to detail we have had to find alternative accommodation which has cost a fortune but was better than staying there for even a night.

We stayed at Fossatún Camping Pods for 2 nights this November and were very impressed! We had two pods which were priced around £80 per pod, booked via booking.com for cheapest deal. The pods themselves are very well heated, small and quite basic. There is a bed space, table & chairs, and somewhere to put bags so you don’t need too much more. Note: toilets and showers are in a separate block, near the hot tubs. Note: bedding is at an additional charge. There is parking space available next to all of the pods, and a larger parking space by the main building. We payed for breakfast for both mornings, in my opinion, this was not worth the money. For 2x breakfast and 1x bedding, it was 4100 ISK which we considered expensive for the quality for breakfast. There was 2x cold meats, cheese, yoghurt, basic pastries, cereal and drinks available for breakfast - probably cheaper to go to a supermarket to buy your own, and use the kitchen facilities (most people did this). The staff are friendly, it’s a homely feel, and there is a restaurant available for evening food - must book prior. Restaurant is not too pricey. - Great spot for Northern Lights sightings - Must have a car - Great hot tubs available for use from 6pm onwards - Clean bathroom and kitchen facilities - Clean sleeping areas - Great social environment - 1hr 15mins from Reykjavík - 2hr + to Golden Circle
