Castello Village Resort is a stone's throw from Sissi's center and the sea, though its location comes with noise from a nearby venue, according to some guests. The service at the hotel often receives compliments for staff friendliness and cleanliness, but issues like tricky late check-outs have been mentioned. While the resort's amenities and lively atmosphere are acknowledged, a shortage of sunbeds and maintenance needs are points of contention.
Room opinions vary, with some finding them spotless and well-appointed, while others report them to be dated and not always clean. In terms of value, there's a sentiment that the resort falls short of expectations, with additional costs and facilities that don't impress everyone.

Hotel's Favorite
Just returned from yet another wonderful holiday. Staying at the fab castello village and castello boutique suites. I can't tell you how much we enjoyed it .it was a truly unbelievable stay !!! We had visited this hotel in May and had a fabulous time so really wanted to go back ! .
And what a welcome we received from these lovely people. Michalis, Tziko, Erlind, Agatha ,and Evi in the restaurant 😀 they had remembered us it was really fantastic. Loads of hugs all round.
Dimitris who is the manager of all 3 hotels he is also a very caring, kind lovely man who goes the extra mile to please his guests. We were so spoilt with a fabulous upgrade to the suites, which were out of this world , beautiful!! with views to die for! The new part to the restaurant was lovely, good food with loads of verity for meat eaters and vegetarians . Everything is kept so clean with beds changed every third day and towels every day. Christina, Dusty and Yannis , plus the other ladies on reception sorry I can't remember you're names also delightful plus the other manager incharge of food and drinks.
Sam in the evening on the bar 🍸 talk about entertaining 🤣 we had such a laugh! Sorry if us two golden girls woke you up...all in all another fabulous holiday thank you all so much , WARNING ⚠️ we will be back ❤️ xxxx

Castello Village Resort in Sissi is a very beautiful place to spent time and money. It is quiet, clean hotel with very friendly atmosphere. Rooms are cosy, great bathroom with shower corner (room 502), electronic kettle, fridge, watter, tea, coffee, that is refilled upon a request at the reception. Everyone in the hotel speaks english, so no worry about language issues.
What absolutely amazed me was the food. Despite the small size of a bufet, you are able to choose from different types of greek specialities, which taste simply excellent. Believe me - you can totally forget searching for extra salt or other seasoning. The hotel chef should be rewarded.
Sissi itself is a very beautiful place with lots of restaurants, taverns, shops, where you can just walk here and there and enjoy great views, cocktails and greek cuisine.
The only negative thing someone may dislike is no beach near the hotel. There is one small beach near the Sissi port and then 2 small beaches (stones and sand) around 15 minutes walk and one bigger sandy beach (around 20 minutes walk) situated near Kalimera Kriti Hotel.
Anyway, I definitelly recommend this hotel and location if you want to relax, experience greek spirit, cuisine, calm friendly atmosphere and don’t want to be bothered by legions of spoiled tourists.

Lets start with the positives, the waiting staff were excellent and worth their weight in Gold. Location is convenient with small supermarket, vehicle rentals right opposite and a very short walk to the centre of the village. Showers here are also excellent. Now for the negatives.... And they are significant. We checked in OK and were given our "garden view superior room". All I can say is there was nothing garden view and the only thing it would be superior to would be a prison cell! The room view was actually a balcony (room 353) which as it was a corner was shared with adjacent room with a single table where either room would be looking into the other. The garden was a tree separating from a dust yard. Bed was OK but decor awful, only one pillow per person really poor. Requested change which couldn't be done there and then but had to go and sort next day when told no change available that day but next day... Come to the change, moved to 252 which was OK in an OK kind of way with single beds (not zipped) but pushed together with the uncomfy single pillow each and balcony door not closing properly which reported but never got fixed. This room also had an old fashioned insecure basic door and developed AC problem which when reported was fixed. Requested a late checkout which was accommodated albeit had to move room for 20 Euro where the late room was I can only imagine a room used for staff as TV had been removed, AC control had to be requested and it overlooked the adjacent building site and had urine in the toilet when we moved in but heho we were only in that room for 2 hours so shouldn't have any health issues! All in all the worst hotel I've ever stayed in in Greece, would be a 1 star if it wasn't for the staff. Despite being half board we ate out 80% of our 2 weeks... Would definitely not use this hotel again

This was our first ever visit to Crete and was unsure of what we had booked, I did not review the hotel only taking what our travel agent told us about this hotel.
We arrived at the Castello resort just before midnight and was pleased at what I saw, the hotel is set away from the beach which did consist of rocks and No sand, Our room (123) overlooked the road giving us a great view of the mountains and the supermarket directly opositte, the rooms were a fair size consisting of a double bed, large wardrobe and a fridge along with a kettle, a seperate room with shower/toilet/sink, the shower was a good size with large glass sliding doors.
The pool was amazing, a shallow end with a railings to guide you down the steps, I have a phsyical disability and this was a great feature to allow ease of access in and out of the pool, the bottom end of the pool @ 8 foot deep.
The outside snack bar just of the reception area is open just after breakfast finished, cold drinks or a tea/coffee can be found here, 12:30 the dinner menu begins, a full menu consisting of various salads can be had (Grandmas Salad) has to be tried as this was very nice, meat/fish dishes are on the menu along with chicken or pork on a skewer with a side of salad and chips, a pizza menu too, we had the pizza made fresh by Kristina and was cooked to perfection, the staff in the resort cannot do enough for you, Ervis was a great staff member who identified my disability and was very helpful to offer his assistance.
The cleanliness of the hotel was outstanding, the maids would come in daily to remake the bed with clean linen and a fresh change of towels
I will say this hotel has everything.
The Hotel Manager (Kostas Katsoprinakis) could be found within the hotel and was more than happy to have a conversation with you.
I only stayed a week in this resort meeting some wonderful guests from different parts of the country, we will be arranging another visit to the Castello.
The Castello was the last drop off on our coach transfer which took @ 90 minutes from Heraklion airport.

We stayed for a week & loved it.
Very quiet due to Covid restrictions impacting on the number of guests in residence.
As a fussy eater, there was some of the very best food I have had on a holliday, the staff were funny & friendly, always interacting with the guests.
The closest beach is a 10 min walk, & due to covid there were no sun beds or bar there, I am sure once Covid is over it will get back to how it should be.
100% recommend staying here.

We originally booked with TUI but after the holiday was called off due to the UK Government overseas holiday restrictions we decided to book direct with the hotel.
It was our 55th Wedding Anniversary so we booked an Executive sea view room, with balcony which was an extra cost. However, on arrival to the hotel we got shown down to our room by the pool on the ground floor with terrace doors straight outside. Not a lot of natural light in the room zero privacy on the terrace.
And so we phoned back to reception and eventually got shown to another room. It was a suite with a side sea view, again not what we had booked, it looked straight into another building. Again we complained but was told that the room we had booked was not available for 3 days so we had to stay put. Eventually we got the room that we had booked even though the hotel was half full.
We cannot fault the staff on reception and in the restaurant, Sevi and Ervis in particular. The other restaurant staff tried their best but it was obvious that they were still being trained. The food was very disappointing, unadventurous and repetitive.
Entertainment? Well there is none, apart from a 1 hour Caribbean Show on a Monday night.
Other nights there is only disco music in the pool bar which made our room shake until midnight each day.
No complaints about the room that we booked except the bed is slightly more comfortable than the floor. The maid cleans the rooms daily, sheets and towels changed every 3 days.
For the last week the staff was reduced and the restaurant went downhill, Sevi and Ervis were let go and it was left to the untrained waiters to cope. On top of this there were about a dozen French residents who thought no better than to stand behind your seats with food and try to talk across you, in a very loud manner, as you tried to eat.
Well we have been all over the world during our 55 years of marriage, in three to five star hotels, but the Castello Village Resort is not one that we would come back to. Very disappointing indeed, certainly NOT 4 STAR.

Dear LesandLyn21 Thank you for your review regarding your recent stay at the Castello Village Resort! Your booking was for an Executive Room Sea View. You had requested a room with a balcony which we informed you – via email – that we would do our best to accommodate you as per your wish. These rooms have either a balcony or a terrace and neither of these extensions are extra charged. We gave you the room you had initially booked. Nonetheless, after you expressed your dissatisfaction with the room given, we upgraded you to a One Bedroom Suite Sea View with balcony until the room of your preference became available. Regarding the Food and Beverage comment, even though some members of the staff were not anymore part of the team, the quality of service did not change. We are sorry that our buffet food did not meet your expectations. We offer daily entertainment program, and the evening entertainment is comprised of two weekly shows plus dancing lessons from our dancing teacher. We thank you for choosing to spend your 55th wedding anniversary with us and hope to be able to welcome you once more in our hotel. Kind regards, The Management Team.

First off good points the staff, everyone we met were polite helpful and happy cannot fault them first class. Bad points room small but expected in greece, no tea making facilities no hangers air con not working, shower flooded bathroom and bedroom ankle deep in water when you emptied something into sink it came back up from the drain in the shower, after complaining these things were put right. Terrible points booked a seaview with as it states a private balcony, no balcony, a table and chairs squeezed in the corridor outside the room, couldn't leave so called patio doors open as anyone could walk in, not good for women on holiday. The description and photos of these rooms are misleading to say the least BEWARE

Our week or 6 days in the Castillo was a very nice week from checking Maria made you very welcome
We upgraded our room to a sea view the room was lovely quite spacious but little storage very nice bathroom.
We only B&B basis so breakfast buffet was a good choice and good quality
The staff were really lovely with good English language which didn’t help my learning Greek.
Rooms were kept clean to a good standard and also around the hotel
The pool bar area was nice but we didn’t use spent one evening there where the barman was also very friendly
Will probably go back again as the hotel is in a good location for sissi

The room was fantastic but we were in room 362 which although was a land view was basically a dirt track and side on white wall to other residence. Other rooms we noticed stepped out straight into the dining area or swimming pool so were lucky in fact with our room The food however was dire, we were half board but can honestly say that the food was not of a good selection plus for me luke warm is a no! no! It is basically catering for Germans who were in abundance and through out Sissi resort. The cost for staying on in the room from checkout at 11am until we needed it until 16.00hrs was 30 euros which we declined. We had some good nights out Cactus Bar, Tropical bar, and Queens Lounge for us was the best with great music. Unfortunately we would not return to Crete, our heart is in Corfu and this certainly did not measure up in any shape or form which I know you should not compare but never the less very disappointed!

We reserved and paid for an Executive double room with side sea view at Castello Resort in Sissi which was advertised on their official site as having a private terrace or balcony with side sea view, with double glazed windows, jaccuzzi and other features like luxury bagd mattress, bathrobe or slippers out of which none was assured. We received a ground floor room, with a small glass window, with little natural light, with a wooden grey door not the most secure one, with a bistro table and 3 chairs in front of the door in a public area which according to them should be the private and fully furnished terrace ( there was nothing private about it) and with a view to a large bush/plant in front of the entrance door. We raised all these issues with the hotel manager, and his answers were : we can't take photos to all the rooms in the hotel, if you are not satisfied talk to the travel agency to move you to another hotel and I can try to change your room, with emphasis on try, but after few days with no guarantees as the hotel is fully booked. On top of all this while I was talking with the receptionist about my issues with the room and he was telling me that he can't do anything because the manager can talk to us only at 7pm now being 3.30 pm , the manager was present at the desk but he didn't present himself at being in charge or having the given role and also instructed his colleague to tell us he wasn't available till the hour mentioned above. After few minutes and several discussions he aproched us with the "solutions" already mentioned above.
Below I'm attaching the phothos of the room advertised with all amenities publised and what we got, to judge by yourself.
The worst and unprofessional experience at a 4 star hotel ever.

Due fully occupancy we told you that you will be removed after 2 days and we did that. Maybe it was a misunderstanding by your side about the facilities because what you wrote in your comment are the facilities from Castello Boutique 5*. We enjoyed our stay, my wife has mobility issues but a short walk to the beach (15mins) is well worth it. Hope you enjoy
We were told we could only use the spa if we booked a treatment or paid. We were advised we could use the out door pool.
We weren’t offered any. Bring your own to be on the safe side.
I’ll answer my own question since I’m here at the minute. If there is building work going on we can’t hear it.
Hi Howard not too sure buddy we did B+ B but wouldn’t return anyway, sorry.
