In full CORONA-period we decided to have family holidays in Kalimera Kriti.
It was the first time we came, and we were full of expectations.
The room that was given to us, was a nice sea view room, but as we didn’t like the style, we asked the reception if we could get another room. The director was called and he proposed us a modern styled room, in the same price-category. One hour later we could change rooms, which in COVID times is not an evidence at all!!!
Our children were happy, we felt satisfied. Food was delicious, no self service, but service at the buffets. Nice buffets, full of choice. Every evening there was a nice evening program: one evening acrobats, another evening music, another one karaoke, ... Water sports also were provided (additional charge), as well as tennis courts and tennis teacher. Kalimera is a very spacious hotel, full of green and flowers, in which you never fell alone, although can be alone if you want to. Members of the personal take their full responsibility in COVID-times, but always stay helpful and kind.
Τhere is also a SPA which can be advised and there are three splendid and very big outside pools. The heating pool was closed for security reasons. Not to forget the mini club, which has every evening mini disco, and the possibility to make excursions in the area. We had a very nice holiday at Kalimera Kriti, and hope to return in the future.

The resort is very harmoniously spread over 220.000 sqm. Beautiful sandy beaches. Elegant renovated rooms and suites . We were a family of 4 persons, 2 adults and 2 kids and we really enjoyed the Cretan hospitality during mid October, thanks to very helpful and friendly staff!. The Half Board (breakfast & dinner served from the staff at buffet)was really very good with preventive measures during COVID-19.
Our kids loved the mini clud and specially Simone!

Crete is very beautiful and diverse (as whole Greece is) and the resort Kalimera Kriti is as stunning as the whole island. The private beach has everything needed, fine sand, rougher one, small peebles or big stones, areas with tiny water golfs and low water good for small kids and areas with deeper water and big waves good for experienced swimmers and all in between. The private hotel beach and the sea are both very clean, one can see the fish and bottom perfectly in the water and there are no medusas and just here and there one can find small patches with sea algae but not disturbing.
The room I had was exactly what I asked for: a nice and big renovated full sea view room, very quiet, with a great view, by the sea and the main swimming pool, close to the food area and the Reception but away from the bars. The room has been maid serviced daily and I would like to thank the Cleaning Staff for doing stellar job.The buildings were/are nice, there are greenery and beautiful flowers and trees everywhere but what made my vacation really wonderful were/are the great people I had the chance to meet here. Indeed, all the staff was really nice and accommodating (least the lady who makes the coffees at the pool bar who seemed less friendly). I was especially impressed with lovely Ms. Katerina Goulidaki the extremely nice, friendly, kind, warm waitress from the Evening Bar. One can rarely meet such a perfect ambassador of one's culture and such a perfect employee. She always knew what to recommend, she was truly outstanding in every way, not just professional but an amazing person, remarkable indeed. We were regulars at the main bar just for her friendliness and open nature, it is rare these days to find someone like her, equally frank and sentimental. The food was excellent, gourmet and my thanks go to the Food Department, too. The Front Desk staff provided excellent service and good information regarding the area and especially sweet Ms. Natasha, beautiful and calm and funny Ms. Maria with local knowledge were simply amazing, always smiling and helpful. Also great were determined Mr. Giorgos, polite and serene Mr. Dimitris and the very nice and accommodating Mr. Michalis, as well as the Hotel Manager, Mr. Nikos Panteris, attentive to detail and caring for guest feedback and prompt and professional Ms. Joanna Spatharou from Reservations Department. I will for sure come back and I definitely recommend Kalimera Kriti, a fabulous resort with fantastic people! Yours, forever in love with the place and people, Univ. We’ve been twice - the second time was a last minute deal as we didn’t have time to plan. Normally we would visit somewhere twice, but it was low risk.

Again though it has good and bad points.

Good things:

Food and restaurant are very good. Great selection of food, always well prepared and plentiful

There are 2 private beaches. One is a little rocky, but nice to sit on the beach and read, the other no rocks at all with lovely sand and plenty of sun beds and a bar a few meters away

Tennis, mini golf and ping pong are all free and great fun

Main pool is large and there is a separate kids pool and an indoor pool which looks very good, although we never tried it

The gym is ok. New machines, a few weights (not many though) and a couple of treadmills. The gym also provides the free beach towels whenever you want them

There is a small shop in the centre. It’s not cheap, but it does seem to have everything from plasters to face masks to olives

The staff are generally nice and helpful. Maybe the odd one or two are not great, but don’t believe they are all rude or unhelpful as that’s simply not true

Not so good things:

It’s been said many times before, but the rooms really let the hotel down. They show pictures implying they are all modern and attractive. The truth is the majority of the rooms are at best 3 star. The beds are uncomfortable, not enough plug sockets, old decor, very basic and ugly bathrooms. The safe still uses a heavy key, the same for the doors - this really need to be updated to electronic cards etc. Update and upgrade ALL of the rooms and the overall quality of the hotel will improve dramatically

The main pool needs a little maintenance. Grouting mainly needs some work to make it clean and remove sharp or rough edges. Otherwise it’s actually pretty ok and a good size. Lots of fun for families

The only other downside is the evening entertainment. Last year was very good, this year it was rubbish. Maybe it’s dependent on the summer staff, so not just the fault of the hotel

One other thing which is not good or bad, but would really make a difference is that there is no where near enough clever use of space. The hotel has HUGE amounts of unused space and even small buildings that are empty. They could have a chill out bar for adults, a games room for teenagers for the evening, a good IT suit etc. there is a huge amount of potential unrealised here

When you read the above, do bear in mind that Kalimerakriti may not be genuinely 5 star,
But it’s also not charging 5 star prices for most of the rooms. It’s actually very good value and despite the rooms, we did have a great time there

Garden room on 2nd floor was stifling hot with no working air conditioning. When we complained, we were moved to a ground floor room which was a lot cooler although I am not sure the rooms I have seen can be classed as 5 star. They need updating throughout to a modern standard. There was only one single electrical socket so remember to take extension lead if you are planning to use more than one electrical device. I would recommend you also take your own hairdryer. Note: They do not provide an iron and will need to pay for an ironing service. Note: They also do not provide tea/coffee facilities in the room.

Overall the resort was great, the adult pool in particular was amazing but in the busy season you may struggle to get a sunbed. Private beach was the best part of the resort. The resort was less than 1 mile to the lovely Sissi fishing village although the road was not really fit for walking in the dark - taxi 6 euros each way.

The staff were very friendly although some in the dining area struggled with meeting the demands of people and they were slow in bringing drinks and struggled to understand English. The cleaning staff were very good but in high demand, one day they forgot to replenish towels to shower with and the reception asked me to walk to the gym to ask for alternatives but this wasn't a huge problem.

the gym was great and was flexible to allow you to enter before 9am.

Overall the holiday was great and relaxing although based on other 5 star hotels I have stayed in, I would rate the rooms in particular 3 stars.

We had a wonderful time here the main hotel is absolutely beautiful with surrounding apartments/ bungalows in a low rise, pretty Grecian village style. All of the staff are very nice & helpful, it is clearly a well run hotel & the staff are looked after.

The restaurant choices are superb, excellent quality. A bit chaotic inside the restaurant but that’s always the case with self serve. The pools are fantastic and never crowded but the usual fiasco of saving a sunlounger applies. Some hotels now issue guests with a numbered sun lounger for your entire stay, problem solved for everyone. The beaches are stunning with incredibly clear water, yellow flags on most days but still fine to snorkel.

It is very easy to walk to Sissi which is quite lively for a night out and a change of scenery. We hired a car for 1 day and explored some gorgeous nearby villages in the mountains beyond. All very traditional and not too touristy. My husband hired a road bike from a local company who were absolutely fantastic, they offered lots of routes. cyclingcreta.gr

Our bungalow was very spacious with large comfortable beds but extremely basic, gloomy, nothing vaguely luxurious/ stylish and disappointingly not a 4*+ rating at all. No tea or coffee facilities in the room and I really missed not having a morning drink on our terrace, it’s the little things sometimes.

The entire floor of the large restaurant outside did not appear to be cleaned or even swept during our 10 day stay, it progressively got worse and worse with dropped food and drinks and was totally unacceptable by the end. I took a picture as I was surprised at this lack of basic cleaning considering how well kept the rest of the hotel is.

We did still enjoy our holiday and found Jet2.com to be an excellent tour operator.

Our family has visited Kalimera Kriti many times in the summer over the past years. Its location and beaches are top notch, and there is plenty of space so it never feels crowded, which was especially appreciated during the pandemic. The hotel has many pools (including an olympic 50m pool and an adults only pool), two main beaches, and a very good children's club. You can easily spend the entire day outside, including breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food and service never disappoint. Some rooms could benefit from renovation, but the management is very friendly and helpful. In particular, Claudia Hauser (Sales & Guest Relations Manager) is very kind and has gone out of her way to help us on many occasions.

We would highly recommend Kalimera Kriti, especially for families who want to spend most of their holiday outside.

4 friends first summer holiday since Covid. We decided to go B&B only so that we could try a variety of local tavernas during our 10 day stay
Did dine twice in hotel and choice of food at both dinner and breakfast was exceptional.
Great staff in all areas from reception, dining room, beach cleaning staff, shops and management. Very helpful and courteous .
Beautiful well maintained beach and poolside beach bar and cafe
Sea view bedrooms very comfortable, great views very well appointed rooms

Only minor disappointment was that only one of the A La Carte restaurants was open during our stay and that had a very limited menu

Local area tavernas very varied but great food and fun people. Well worth the taxi ride to Sissi or Varahachsi

we went here on a tennis active away holiday. reading some of the reviews online initially had me worried as there was a bit of negativity towards the rooms which now i have been there for a week is totally unfair and untrue. i found the rooms (we had 4) very pleasant and in full working order. the daily maid service was exceptional too. rooms very clean and well cared for. it has a traditional greek feel with the painted window shutters and a lovely balcony which i enjoyed very much. air con was good and there is a room safe too with no extra charge!! ALL the staff that i saw were super friendly and helpful. food from the buffet was goods with lovely fresh fruits in the morning, freshly made pancakes, waffles and omelettes. local wine that was served on the table was very nice as were the lovely staff who looked after us wherever we went. i would go again and would definitely recommend. thankyou to reception staff who booked our taxis, helped print all
our covid forms and helped with a later checkout which was very much appreciated too!!!

Great hotel with very nice garden, pool and private beaches. Very friendly staff in the restaurants, bars, reception, animation, pool, and other areas
We enjoyed our vacation besides Covid restrictions very much. Buffet was partially limited due to official rules but was very delicious.

Minus point: our apartment was in the „old section“ with a quite old bath room, and of the two bed rooms only one was air conditioned, so the nights have been quite hot in the warm September/October days.
Beds were fine and the small cooler is a plus for the hot temperatures.

It is officially requested, yes. But you see a lot of men with shorts at dinner, especially in summer. To be honest, there where only a few that actually followed this rule. So you have to decide for your self, if you want to do it.
