We just checked in, and to say I’m disappointed is putting it nicely. The beautiful hotel you see in the pictures is nothing like real life. Our room has a view of an RV park; it smells musty and dirty. If I hadn’t already prepaid, I’d leave immediately. I’m not normally harsh about hotels, but for the price you pay to stay here, there has to be something better in town (the hotel is about a ten minute drive from downtown). Please do yourselves a favor and stay somewhere else.

For $400 a night the air conditioner should not sound like a plane taking off and the view should not be the neighboring wall. The ambience is nice but the room is not restful. The outdoor bar is very nice overlooking the se planes landing and the beer selection is good. A Stein 7/17/2019

This hotel is marketed as being in the lake and near the airport. The lake is not visible from the rooms and you are on the Runway for the numerous seaplanes that line the lake. Very noisy! The rooms are large, but carpets in rooms and hallways need to be cleaned/replaced- worn and/or dirty. There is a restaurant and bar on premises, which is convenient. Lobby decorations consist of wildlife which are fun.

LynneM5, Thank you for your review and for taking time to share it. We're sorry about the aircraft noise, which is due to the Ted Stevens International airport runway refurbishment project that is causing departing aircraft to take off over the city instead of the water, which is usually the departure flight path. As for the floatplane traffic on Lake Hood, that only occurs during the daytime and it's one of the defining characteristics of our lakeside ambience. We know that it can be a bit odd to have such a high volume of aircraft, but so much of our Alaskan wilderness is accessible only by floatplane that our location on the busiest floatplane airbase in the world brings about a uniqueness that we appreciate. We're glad you enjoy our indigenous wildlife mounts in the lobby. Sincerely, Greg B

We stayed in several hotels during our Alaska journey and this was the perfect first stop! The location is ideal because of nearness to International Airport and it was so special to be able to enjoy a great meal as float planes ascended and descended on the lake. The accommodations were extremely nice, clean and quiet. So glad we found this great place!!

We stayed here twice, for a total of three nights. The rooms were great for a family of four, clean and quiet! The shuttles to the airport, downtown, and the train station were so helpful! And all the drivers were wonderful! The restaurant and bar on site were quite convenient, too! We would stay here again for sure!
