We had never stayed in a B and B before and were giving new hotels and different stays a try while in anchorage. We booked the top bedroom of this Inn for my husband and I that provided another sitting room and our own bathroom. This was up the stairs on the top floor and while I thought it may be quieter it was much noiser due to the traffic noise as this Inn is right off the busy street going into town. This was the only draw back as we did not sleep well and it creaked when we walked so we always thought we would be bothering the other guests below. Larry and Alan were quite the team, making sure our stay was good. Their breakfasts both mornings were fantastic and we particularly liked the mini dutch babies! We also enjoyed sitting with the other guests at breakfast and hearing their stories as well as with the home owners as they were quite friendly and have lots to offer about Alaska and how they grew up and worked there. We walked downtown one day and it was close enough to see around the town, although it was quite chilly. Would stay again as a solo but felt it was a bit not private enough for a couple. They kept the rooms spotless and that was important as well.…
Absolutely loved our stay here. Super friendly owner who was great to chat with, brimming with hospitality, and made wonderful breakfasts. Immediately felt like home in the two nights we stayed here and loved having a whole floor of the house including a bedroom, sitting room and bathroom all to ourselves. Add in a great location and the fact that the house was charming and spotless, and you have all the ingredients for a perfect stay. Highly recommend!
My first B&B as I'm a hotel guy. However, all the hotels in downtown were either over $200 a night or filled with bad reviews on their cleaning practices. As this B&B was only a 10-15 minutes walk from downtown and had great reviews I decided to try it. What a great call. It's owned and run by two guys, Alan the back of the hotel guy (Sorry if I mis-spelled) and Larry the front of the hotel guy. Both are very friendly and Larry was a joy to talk with telling and listening to stories at night in the family room. After long days I loved the leather reclining chair to relax and nap in. Besides the communal family room is the breakfast room. Breads with a toaster, yogurt, fresh fruit and cereal, orange juice with 2% milk was nice. One morning Larry made scrambled eggs and another Alan made Finnish pancakes with spicy reindeer sausage. The beds were comfortable. Queen and a single. Basement room with private bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. Daily housekeeping. An overall wonderful experience…
We stayed three nights at this lovely B&B. The hosts were gracious and easy to talk to. The breakfasts served were excellent with much attention paid to detail. And, what we enjoyed most, was chatting with other guests around the breakfast table.
I stayed with Larry and Allen for five days this summer, and I will definitely stay with them again. I grew up in Anchorage, not far from this property, and I was so happy to be in my old hood! They also happen to be next door to my my best friend, so that was a bonus! The beds are comfortable, wonderful shower, and I loved the Mission style furniture. Breakfast was always fun with good conversation among other guests and our hosts. All in all, a great time, and I felt at home.
My mom and I booked a 4 night stay at Larry's Wildflower Inn. Larry and family are truly gifted hosts who are warm, welcoming and have exceptional hospitality! We were given a tour and made to feel at home immediately. Our two rooms on the shared floor were attractive, comfortable and peaceful. We were both amazed at how quiet the home is being right in town and we both slept soundly. Our daily buffet breakfasts were delicious and unique daily. Larry and his family were all helpful, welcoming and great conversationalists. We had a truly wonderful stay and would book a future stay in a heartbeat! Susanne & Mom, Port Orchard Washington
I had the pleasure of staying with Larry and Allan for one evening in mid December 2019. They made me feel so welcome and right at home. My room, along with the rest of the inn, was comfortable, clean and inviting. My downstairs room had everything I needed and the jacuzzi bath tub was wonderful. Location is great...I walked to downtown with no problems. Above all, what sets this property apart is the hospitality. Larry and Allan are lovely hosts and very helpful to this Alaskan first-timer. On the particular day I stayed, I was the only guest at breakfast, but Larry joined me and we had a wonderful conversation. That kind of friendliness and care makes all the difference. I highly recommend!
I highly recommend staying at Larry's Wildflower Inn; I hope to go back. Warm, welcoming, friendly hosts who will chat over breakfast or give you peace and quiet if you prefer. Lovely comfortable room-we had the one downstairs with a queen & twin bed. Nice to be in a charming neighborhood too.
Very convenient for downtown and transportation. Breakfasts were excellent, plenty of choice buffet style. It was nice chatting to other guests and the owner. We had a room in the basement (It did have high windows) which was as well as we got little traffic noise (property is on a busy junction); suspect the other rooms would have been quite noisy.
We stayed at the Sunflower Vacation Rental (Cabin B) by the same owners and had a wonderful experience! The hosts were great and always available. Unit was as described, and close to downtown. Close proximity to grocery store and bakery nearby, nice neighborhood to walk through without the 'big city' feel. Would stay at another rental by these hosts, great experience for a family vacation. Thank you guys!!
