We had a wonderful time staying at Portage Valley Cabins and RV Park. The campfire area was amazing. It was huge and perfect for making hot dogs and roasting marshmallows with our small kids. It was all sheltered and had a wonderful community feel. We met and enjoyed conversations with other campers while sitting around the fire. We also really... More

We spent 2 days here. Rented one of the spacious cabins for our 4 kids, 4 beds in that cabin, 2 upstairs 2 down, my hubby and I rented a queen cabin for ourselves. There's always a fire burning at the pavilion and the kids roasted marshmallows and rode bikes (provided by the RV park) as we prepared our freshly... More

We spent two rainy days and nights here hoping to hike the portage pass. Unfortunately that didn't work out but we were glad we stayed here. The host is friendly and helpful and starts a community campfire in the evenings. They had DVDs to borrow at no extra charge. The showers are big and clean. The lots are very level... More

Thank you for the wonderful review. This family-owned Campground strives hard to make sure everyone has a great time rain or shine. More

VERY surprised at the service I received this morning at Portage RV park. Up until then everything went great. Then I asked the guy at the desk if it would be okay if I could come back and use the dump station later this afternoon even though I was checking out. I thought he was kidding, but without apology he... More

I am sorry the front desk gentleman was rude to you upon asking a question. He is actually no longer with us. It is customary for guests to use the dump station before they leave. That is no reason to be rude to a guest so I do apologize. We are a small family-owned place and work hard to try... More

Aftera 5 hour flight from Minnesota, we rented our rv from great Alaskan holidays, excellent. We ate, then went grocery shopping. One hour south to portage valley cabins/rv park. we had a reservation and arriving late afternoon, we were greeted and welcomed. Majestic views, enough room to build a village. 4 very clean showers, and toilets. Hook up sites are... More

Nice gravel, level campground. Located 1.7 miles on Portage Glacier Road. Small sign on Portage Glacier Road for the RV entrance on Wyatt’s Windy Road. . Electric but no sewer hook-ups. Dump station available. There are different costs associated with which site location you prefer. River, dry site, pull through gravel no tree site. Very suitable for large rigs. Off... More

I am glad you had an enjoyable time here. I do apologize about the electric maintenance. Unfortunately being in Portage and electricians in Anchorage we are at their mercy of when they will show up, and weather is an obstacle also. Also it is hard to know how long it takes to do the work. You are right, I should... More

We stayed here three nights as a base for visiting Whittier, Aleyska and hiking. The park is pleasant. Two choices of sites-back ins along the river that seem to be quite roomy and pull thru spots with no trees. We opted for a pull thru on the end (29) and were very pleased with the view of the mountain, pond... More

Trees around the campground but not between each campsite. Dumping station only - no sewer at campsite. No cable, no wifi. The scenery around this campsite is beautiful with mountains and creeks. Gravel throughout campground. Friendly staff and helpful. Was convenient campground to use towed vehicle to Whittier and Seward. Campground is off the Portage Glacier Road about a mile.

Thank you for your visit and your review. The trade off for the cable and Wi-Fi is 360 degree mountains And such beautiful scenery. We are glad you enjoyed our convenient location and we hope to see you again. More

Stayed here in Motorhome while seeing local attractions. Unique common fire pit area with nightly campfires and conversations. No sewage at sites but dump station available. Super owners and great staff. Little pricey but then it is Alaska. Big romey sites, not crammed together.
