We were lucky enough to get in last minute on a weekend. Mary and Dan are very kind and welcoming. The breakfasts were delicious and filling. We had to share a bathroom with the other guests, but that was not an issue (especially since there are only two rooms). They are cash only, so stop by the ATM first.
Dan and Mary open their home so you become part of the family! Super nice people who make your stay feel like home. Together they make a great breakfast to get you going and local knowledge of sights to see with many local contacts to give you a personal touch as well. We took our grandson to Alaska for his senior trip and had a blast on ATV’s, river rafting, glacier explorations and much more Highly recommend and hope to come back soon.
We stayed 3 nights, the beds are so comfortable it was just what we needed after a long day of fishing! Mary makes a great cup of coffee and was so helpful planning our trip, she really made things easy on us. She had great recommendations for things to do and restaurants to try as well. This is a nice quiet house in a beautiful area. We will definitely stay again!
This was a wonderful place. Mary and Dan are fantastic hosts. Excellent food and company. We felt right at home and welcome. The bedrooms are comfortable and the living room provided plenty of relaxation. We really enjoyed getting to know Mary and Dan and will return for another visit.
We truly felt at home while here, playing with Lucas helped us with being away from our own dog. Dan and Mary were more than accommodating, plenty of travel tips, excellent food, and an altogether cozy and laid-back atmosphere made Jarvi a place of rest and relaxation the whole time we were there. The proximity of JHS to downtown anchorage and the Chugach makes for an easy time being a tourist. Downtown Anchorage, Whittier, Alyeska, and a walk across a frozen lake to Portage Glacier were all an easy drive away.
This is our third visit at Jarvi Homestay. Excellent food. Great location. Mary, Dan and Lucas make you feel like family. Looking forward to more visits to Jarvi Homestay. Plan to return next year for a longer stay.
Jarvi Homestay was truly a "home stay." Mary and her husband were both accommodating to our every need. The bedroom was very comfortable and the living area large. The homemade breakfasts were very creative. We left feeling like we were family.
So many special things about this B&B-location is wonderful, in Anchorage and easily accessible to restaurants and businesses, yet private wooded area. Great neighborhood for walking. Room was private and quiet, beautiful deck, pet friendly. Some of the features that made my stay outstanding were fenced dog yard (no leashed walks in the wee hours), espresso machine and reverse osmosis water filter. The water in Anchorage tastes heavily of chlorine and I loved having this clean and tasty choice. Your hosts Mary and Dan are lovely people, felt like meeting old friends for the first time.
From the moment we made the reservation, Mary was wonderful to work with. She accommodated challenges in our arrival schedule and when we arrived, we immediately felt at home. Her home was inviting and her gift of hospitality was evident in every aspect from cleanliness and comfort to the delicious breakfasts she served us each morning. I would definitely choose Jarvi as my preferred place to stay when returning to Anchorage and highly recommend it to anyone visiting this area!!
Great place to stay - awesome breakfasts, something homemade and hot every morning. Clean and nice rooms with quiet atmosphere. Hot tub available with peaceful surroundings. Enjoyed seeing hosts' gardens and flowers. Hosts were very nice getting to know.
