Detailed Reviews
We stayed at the Parkside on our way to and from Camp Denali in Denali National Park. The Parkside is owned and run by the same people who own and run Camp Denali, and as such, it holds to the same high standards of accommodations. Carley, our host, was congenial and helpful, yet gave us a lot of space and didn't hover as many B&B hosts feel they have to. The accommodations themselves were impeccable, and Carley's homemade baked goods, which augmented the standard B&B fare, were delicious. All in all, a nice, homey change of pace from standard hotels, and the perfect entry and exit from a stay at Camp Denali.
Be sure to have the address handy, as neither of our cab drivers knew the location by name.

We've stayed in numerous B & Bs over the years and Parkside definitely makes our top 10. The Craftsman home is a gem and the setting close to the park and coastal trail makes it a perfect location, as Anchorage is a very walkable grid. Our room and bathroom were immaculate, with attention to details that these travelers appreciate - laundry facilities, adequate reading lights, ample & accessible plugs for charging electronics, bathrobes, guest refrig to chill our wine, snacks for the train and more.Carly was an informative hostess and went out of her way to make sure each guest's varied needs were met. For us, the breakfasts were just right with homemade granola, breads and muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt and flavorful local coffee. We liked being able to eat within our time frame rather than an exact sit down time with multiple courses.

We stayed two nights prior to heading to Camp Denali. The Guest House is an easy 10-15 minute walk to downtown restaurants and is located across the street from a park. This well-appointed home is a peaceful retreat, and the guest room was exceptionally comfortable. Our host, Carly, was knowledgeable and helpful in acquainting us with the home and providing restaurant guidance. She prepared a wholesome and tasty breakfast even on the day that we had an early train to catch. The house has strong wi-fi and self-service laundry facilities. We hope to be able to stay at Parkside Guest House when our future travels take us to Anchorage.

My husband and I stayed here for one night, then 10 days later we returned for 2 nights. Carley is a pleasant, friendly, helpful hostess. On our second visit she impressed me when she remembered that I needed an additional towel and that I prefer to drink tea.
Our room and the house were always clean and beautiful. Carley was flexible with breakfast times, which by the way, were delicious. She had fresh fruit, homemade granola and home made yogurt, as assortment of teas, and a homemade coffee cake/ pastry each day.
We had 3 different destinations for our trip, and The Parkside Guest House worked out wonderfully as a home base for us. We were able to store some of our luggage and clothes when we left the first time. We returned 4 days later just to switch out some clothes and boots. Even though we weren’t spending the night at this point, Carley invited us to relax at the house until we had to leave for our flight.
Then when we returned for the final visit, we were able to wash clothes and repack everything. Carley graciously offered to put our clothes in the dryer while we went out to explore the city for the day.
Th Guest House is easily within walking distance of the museum, the Saturday festival and many restaurants. And if you are staying at The North Face Lodge or Camp Denali, they offer a dis punt at the Guest house.

We stayed here prior to going to Camp Denali. Our room was impeccably clean and attention to detail was evident throughout. Carly prepared us a sumptuous breakfast and went so far as to provide us snacks for our long bus ride to Denali.

We just returned from a wonderful vacation in Alaska. We decided to use Parkside Guest House in Anchorage as our transitional lodging. We booked three non-consecutive nights there and were thrilled with this place. Our hostess, Carly was exceptional. She treated us like family, helped us with arrangements, offered suggestions for dining and pointed us to attractions. The house is beautiful and had a real comfortable feel. I would highly recommend it to anyone staying in Anchorage.

My husband and I stay at the Parkside Guest House on June 8th , and again on June 25th, 26th and 28th. We originially had reseved only June 8th and 28th. The first and last days of our three week trip to Alaska. The house is beautifully decorated in Mission Oak throught out. With extreme detail attention to everything in the entire house. It was spottlessly clean. Our host was very attentive but never invasive. We had the pleasure of have the owners at breakfast one morning. They are a delightful couple. They also own Camp Denali and Northface Lodge inside Denali National Park. This would be a great addition on anyone's trip to Alaska. We enjoyed our stay so much we called back and reseved two additional nights at the end our trip.

We've stayed here a number of times - time to write a review:
When I travel I look for beauty and education, in lodging as well as activities. I happen to love and appreciate the elegance and functionality of Craftsman homes. This one is NOT "pompous" as noted in one review; it is understated and lovely throughout. All through Covid Carley persevered in reminding us to put on our masks - annoying at times, but necessary and medically appropriate (we're both physicians). The house is always fresh and immaculate and breakfasts are perfect - I prefer high quality continental breakfasts to copious piles of heavy fare. The location is very convenient.

The Parkside Guest House is one of the nicest bed and breakfast inns we have stayed at in many years of traveling. Our room was spacious and lovely, and all the common rooms are beautiful too, with Arts and Crafts décor throughout the house. Best of all was our host, Carly, who not only baked spectacular scones and muffins and rhubarb pudding for breakfasts, but made dinner reservations for us and prepared an early-morning to-go breakfast for us when we had a train to catch and another early-morning breakfast for us to eat at the inn when we had another morning activity to get to. Plus we enjoyed talking to her about life in Alaska, as well as to the other guests at the inn during our 4-night stay. The inn is well located for easy walking to restaurants and a hiking and biking trail and the train depot. Really, this inn is extraordinary – we would stay here again in an instant. And again we must add that Carly is a gem.

Parkside is a stunning craftsman style bungalow within walking distance of Glacier Brewhouse and my other favorite restaurants. The rooms are spacious and lovely. Breakfast was wonderful and Carly, the manager was great!
