We stayed there 2 nights before our trip to Denali, and one night afterward. The hotel is a short walk to the train station and from the Denali bus stop. The staff was very friendly and helpful with suggestions for restaurants and things to do. The breakfast waffles are super. We like the atmosphere of an historic hotel - small... More

The hotel is old. That's why it's "historic." It's also smaller that I expected from the pictures. The lobby is tiny. Rooms were small and tired, and the bed was a bit soft, although at least we did have a King, which is not always easy to find. Staff were very friendly and helpful, no complaints there. Breakfast was okay.... More

I'd certainly agree with other reviewers that the location is good and the staff well-trained and pleasant. Unfortunately, for our family, the small, dated rooms really detracted from the experience. The standard two-bed room didn't work for 3 of us because the beds are only doubles (too cramped for me & the spouse) and there is not much space left... More

We absolutely loved our recent stay at the Historic Anchorage Hotel. The staff were not only courteous but extremely helpful with suggestions and directions. We were able to park our car and walk to all destinations within the downtown area. Have stayed at the Captain Cook on prior visit to Anchorage but highly recommend this hotel for less tourist feel... More

This was our second time staying at the Historic Anchorage Hotel. Both times were enjoyable. The staff was very friendly and answered any questions we had regarding things to do and places to eat. We were taking the train to Seward, which we had to be at the station before their 6:00 breakfast was served, but they put out coffee... More

We stayed here before going on a week long fishing trip and found the hotel and staff a great place to relax and enjoy Anchorage. Location is the best and rooms and staff were above the standard. The staff and especially the young lady at night welcomed us and made us feel at home even though we had been traveling... More

Our suite was charming & roomy. The bed was extra comfy and the The days we stayed in Anchorage were very sunny and unusually warm, unfortunately, the hotel is not equipped for warm summer days, so it was hot and a bit stifling even with the windows open. The WIFI connection was... chancy ... at best, so this place is... More

One of our favorite places to stay while in Anchorage. It is in a very convenient location, within easy walking distance to downtown restaurants, stores, convention center and more. The rooms are quaint and comfortable. Best of all, the manager and her staff could not be more helpful, knowledgeable and friendly.

Consider this wonderful hotel if you are staying in Anchorage, particularly if you are connecting to a cruise ship and have limited time. It is a smaller, more intimate hotel with charm and character. The room was attractive and comfortable, and the front desk staff could not have been more attentive and accommodating. The central location means that you can... More

We arrived at the Historic Anchorage Hotel around 11:30AM on a Sunday. The desk clerk, a young man, appeared to be put off by our arrival, he had to get off his stool in the corner. He was efficient once he got going and our room was ready. The hotel has one cart for luggage, luckily it was available. When... More
